Raymond Chandler made notes on the case, in which he wrote “I call it the impossible murder because Wallace couldn’t have done it, and neither could anyone else…The Wallace case is unbeatable; it will always be unbeatable.”

i DO NOT THINK THIS MOVIE GAVE WALLACE A FAIR SHAKE, AS DID THE APPELLATE TRIBUNAL.

I disagree; he so did it. The original jury came to an honest conclusion and he would have hanged but for the successful appeal. He was an evil, malicious little man, who planned his wife's murder and his alibi years in advance...and then carried it out. In any event, it's just an artistic representation and needs to be appreciated on that level, otherwise it's just propaganda, which is NOT art. You probably think film-makers have also been unfair to Lord Lucan. Your writing in all caps suggests this.

@@jaymesguy239 I admit that giving himself all of the witnesses does make him look guilty. It was overkill to have so many. However, appearances of guilt doesn't prove guilt. Why are you so sure he did it ? The door should have been left unlocked to allow an intruder to leave, not locked from the inside...... What did he stand to gain from her death ? What could have been the motive ? As he said himself, he lost alot over the whole thing and became a pariah in society.

@@henryottis295Apparently he was one of those people who are constantly asking people for the time (sometimes just to check his own watch was right) and for directions etc. He almost certainly had a Liverpool A to Z map book at his house and would of looked up Menlove Gardens east before he went out. Prudential agents would get 20% commission on the first insurance premium for new business they bought in so potentially Wallace was looking at big money in commission from Mr Qualtrough's insurance.

Many years later Parrys girlfriend admitted that he did see her that night, but a lot later than she said. Parry had also taken his car to be cleaned and the young guy at the garage told police, that he washed a lot of blood out of the car and a glove in particular was saturated, the police told him they were not that concerned, they went all out to convict Herbert. The milk boy said he had seen Julia at 6.30, but the coroner said Julia was already dead at this time and coerced him into saying he got the time wrong. Parry had a criminal record and there had been a spate of burglaries in the area, but the police were only interested in Herbert and what didnt fit their narrative was blatantly ignored.
