Fickle, capricious man getting all hyper and dramatic over canceling a childhood engagement made by the parents because he's never seen his betrothed and thinks she's probably quite plain looking when he considers himself a handsome catch with lots of money. The moment he sees her standing outside the door, he's suddenly smitten and in love; then he sees her at his own house waiting for him, she stands up to his arrogance and pride and slaps him silly, proving she's much stronger, courageous, loyal, credible and righteous than he will ever be and suddenly he's chasing after her like an elk in rut as if all the insults he hurled her way when screaming at her father will just become unsaid and unheard. He may wear expensive suits, but his character is sorely lacking in all regards.

No...She was in shock! The fl and the ml met each other earlier that day for the first time. They were both attracted each other but they had no way of knowing that they were already connected due to a family arrangement since they had never seen each other before. The ml rushes to break off the engagement not realizing the woman he just met is the same one he's been engaged to all along! The fl comes along and silently listens at the door and she is devastated by what she is hearing. As the ml is leaving he glances in the fl's direction and comes to a startling realization that the woman he met in the street earlier and the fiancée he had never met are one and the same! It's too late and the damage has been done. Typical Cdrama...I only watched the first 2 episodes of this (I believe...) but I remember that scene clearly. The way the fl looked with tears streaming down her face was quite moving...
