Sanjay ji, one feedback, the chairs could be better, it could be sofa or something having proper hand rest and back rest, making it comfortable to sit for long time
Sanjay sir, i was working in MoD during 1984. We had a news at 9.30 am that Indira Gandhi had been shot. All were sad except one sikh coworker who was very happy that Golden Temple has been avenged. Our office closed at 5.00 pm and we three colleagues were travelling by bus to our homes. On the way young sikh boys stopped the bus and started distributing swwets. They were joyous and behaved like the winners. We refused to take sweets but they insisted and put that piece of burfi in our mouths forcibly. They were young and almost ten/twelve in numbers. This was so bad but we couldn't do anything. Such incidents were common in most parts of Delhi. When they started distrbuting sweets in front of AIIMS where large number of people had gathered and Indiraji's body was undergoing post mortem. The first beating of sikhs took place there. Then the sikhs came back well armed. It triggered the riots. First riots were in Green Park and other adjoining areas of AIiMS.
That time leadership commited a huge blunder by attacking their most sacred site. Sikhs hv contributed much above their population share on this land, we respect the Sikh Gurus and that operation Bluestar is a dark spot on our nation that is quite hard to remove.
I was in Delhi at that time and remember our local dry cleaner who was a Sikh distributing sweets that eventually resulted in a mob burning down his business. On the flip side we were so concerned about the safety of our Sikh classmates at our college that we had to compel them to trim their hair and beards, none of whom really understood the need for Khalistan. Many had Hindu relatives , visited Hindu temples, joined Bhajans, etc. it was a sad and confusing period.
@@AG-cv7fxsee, this is where Hindus make mistake. When you give a community way too much importance and remind them that only they have been the saviour of this nation, you not only disrespect others who laid their lives for their nation but you embolden the feeling of supremacy in them. Stop appeasement.
@@AG-cv7fx Every community has contributed to the country and dharma. Not just the Sikhs. Please stop fueling Sikh ethno-centricism and supremacism by saying all this and engaging in pseudo-history.
@@AG-cv7fx There was no attack. It was the necessity. Bhindranwale had fortified it and was carrying out attacks and killings from there. Ask Nirankari Sikhs and Punjabi Hindus & Jains, who were suffering from him and his men's terror in 1978-84 and then up to 1990s. This problem still exists.
Great to hear good words about us tambis..generally speaking all of Bharat we find good fighters because fighting is about the spirit..kshatriya dharma has prevailed at every nook and corner of Bharata varsha.. ❤
In a significant move, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal has declared Ram Navami, which falls on April 17 this year, as a public holiday just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This is the first time that the state government has declared a holiday for Ram Navami
This was a fascinating interview for me. Notably, Shiv Kunal's recollections of Gen Sundarji and Operation Blue Star. It definitely cracked my image of Gen Sundarji and his contributions to the Indian Army. But then nobody is perfect! On the same matter; while Shiv Kunal appropriately concludes that political leaders have invariably landed themselves and the nation in trouble by violating the chain of command (Nehru in 1962 China conflict and Indira with Operation Blue Star); not enough was concluded about the shortcomings in the much vaunted 'discipline' within the Indian Army / Military (and I'm sure it is the same everywhere in the militaries globally). Even Military leaders are, after all, political animals!
He has abundant wealth of knowledge of our military history. I had seen in some other podcast (I think it was a series). You should actually make a series with him time permitting.
Pouch ammunition for SLR 7.62mm was 100 rounds. But facing AK-47 with self-loading SLR is not practical. IPKF went without information, recce and planning. I lost a good friend of mine there (was awarded MVC posthumously).
Field Marshal Manakshaw was originaly from Frontiar Rifles of Indian Army. After independence Frontiar Rifles become part of Pakistan Army and Gorkh Rifles become part of Indian Army. Since Field Marshal Mankshaw opted for India he was allotted Gorkh Rifles.
It's not within the powers of the Army or the Army Chief to declare any part of India as a Distured Area. Its the prerogative of the Central Govt. So why should P Chidamaram ask Gen VK Singh to declare parts of Chattisgarh as Disturbed Area?
The 1984 riots were planned and the Army was told to stand down and ignore all pleas for help. My father was commanding a regiment in Mathura at the time and was witness to the horrendous actions of the Congress party and its minions.
Khalistan kisi kimat pe jaayaz nahin hai..1984 to congŕessiyon ne kiya tha ..uski aapne Delhi mein Govt banwadi 1984 ke baad Shiela dixit ke under mein aur punjab mein jab rak AAP nahin aayi....kyon????kyonki pakistan ke ISI ne bola tha JO KAUMGRESS KA TO PAKISTAN DOST HAI....
