So the face scan for Mando was just checking to make sure he wasn't wanted by the empire. Pretty dumb security measure but that's why Fenic and Cara couldn't go because they are both wanted for fighting against the empire. Boba likely isn't wanted for any crime but he is a clone and the system may flag a clone trooper
@@mathies3598 28 years after the clones had been phased out. I doubt anyone would just recognize his voice and face. The system however absolutely would have.
Mando throwing Moff Gideon's speech back in his face is easily one of my top 3 star wars moments ever. And I forgive you Abi, for not realizing how pivotal Din showing his face is. You were distracted by your future beau's good looks to see he that would do ANYTHING for Grogu.
Also you had no idea how happy us fans got when boba triggered the seismic charge. Hearing that iconic sound, we lost our minds as we waited holding our breath in silence.
Great reaction. This was my favourite episode of the entire 2 seasons (joint favourite overall, but you haven't got to the other one yet 😉). I spent the last four episodes of this season in tears. For this episode, it was when Din turned around Gideon's own speech to him, it gave me chills and goosebumps, especially changing "it" to "he". There was nothing I didn't like about this entire episode, from hating to loving Mayfeld's character (great acting by Bill Burr), and Pedro's acting whilst without his (a) helmet, the slight head movements like he was still wearing his helmet ... and off course seeing Din's face for the love of Grogu 😍😍 It also showed us Din's amazing fighting ability, without his armour. Yes, he got hurt, but he took it on the chin and carried on regardless. Once you've finished Episode 8 you should watch the behind the scenes 'Gallery' episodes of both the seasons, they are definitely worth the watch.
10:00 "Him without his mask, what does this mean for him? The way is such a thing for him." When Mando has to choose between honoring his religion, his way of life, or doing whatever he can to save Grogu. Off goes the helmet. Being a parent, really does change your priorities.
Great reaction as always and my 2nd favourite episode of the series. Bill Burr did a fantastic job but Pedro Pascal deserves just as much credit for his acting choices as well and he doesn't get nearly as much recognition for the subtleties here. The way he conveys Din's anxiety of showing his face to others and the fear that he feels as result of that is so bang on. I felt uncomfortable watching him be uncomfortable; he's trying to hide in a room full of people and just watching how that plays out across his face and body language is incredible. Notice he moves his head the exact same way he would when his helmet is on. Fascinating and heartbreaking to watch. Cannot wait for your finale reaction! 😁
This episode singlehandedly makes Mayfeld from a one dimensional backstabber to a dynamic ex-imperial with real depth. The scene with Valin Hess is one of my favourite scenes in Star Wars period.
Fun Fact (someone may have already mentioned this) - the mission that Mayfield was talking about (Operation Cinder) is actually a mission from one of the Star Wars comuter games. Nifty little Easter Egg there. :)
@@abi_corinne The best way to know about it is to find someone who has done the main story in Star Wars battle front 2 and watch it that explains operation cinder which is basically the last order from Palpatine after his death.
Showing his face more just goes hand in hand with the helmet rule. The Armorer doesn’t ask if he’s shown his face, she asks if he’s ever removed his helmet It was so awesome seeing a seismic charge again
Of course he removed his helmet in Season 1 when he ate at the village, but no one saw his face while he did it. He did stop her when when she was trying to remove his helmet at the end of the episode hoping he would stay with her.
Feel free to gush. The actress name is Gina Corano and she didn't do anything wrong. She posted statements in her IG that were misinterpreted by people and the outrage of the vocal minority resulted in Disney removing her from the show and what would've been a spin off series for her. She hasn't worked since and it's a shame because she was literally built for this
Hey, Abi! It was the BILL BURR show for week 7 on "The Mandalorian"! Lol. Here's some helpful info on Episode 15, "The Believer": Boba Fett's ready for the ball! He simonized his armor and gave it a fresh coat of paint! By the way, did you know that Hollywood vet and Disney princess Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec Shand, is an ageless 57 years old? She was born in Macao in 1963! Mayfeld requires a terminal to locate Gideon's cruiser and the nearest is at a secret Imperial rhydonium refinery on Morak. Rhydonium's destructive potential was amply demonstrated in the D-Squad arc of "Clone Wars"! See The Lady Powerhouse, Cara Dune, singlehandedly pummel two Tank Troopers out of commission! Keeping the volatile rhydonium stable by maintaining a low speed is a film reference to Henri-Georges Clouzot's 1953 "Wages of Fear" in which volatile nitroglycerin is transported by Yves Montand over a treacherous, unpaved mountain road! Mayfeld's monologue about moral relativism and the lack of impact regime change has on those being ruled not only reveals a great deal about Mayfeld's cynical nature but is a film reference to the old timer's monologue in Mike Nichols' 1970 "Catch-22" in which Art Garfunkel is schooled about fascism, democracy and the fall of all empires! Rip-roaring action sequence that reveals three things: plastoid armor is garbage, Din don't need no beskar and the so-called "pirates" were actually GUERILLA FIGHTERS who were destroying the shipments rather than stealing them! That last sobering point means Din slaughtered anti-Imperial rebels for the sake of Grogu. The Imperial rescue that has us rejoice with the Empire is a film reference to Wolfgang Petersen's 1981 "Das Boot" in which you cheer with Jurgen Prochnow's German sub crew, whom you've come to know intimately, every time they score a victory against the Allies! MONUMENTAL MOMENT: Din removes his helmet in public violating Death Watch creed for the sake of Grogu which denotes a major shift in his thinking! BIG QUESTION: Was the terminal just acknowledging a human face with no Republic credentials, does Din have Imperial credentials from his time as a bounty hunter or do Guild credentials grant you access to Imperial databases? The tense scene between Mayfeld and Valin Hess not only revealed the psychopathy of the titular 'Believer' and his upper echelon Imperial ilk but is a film reference to Quentin Tarantino's 2009 "Inglorious Basterds" in which Brit spy Michael Fassbender and Nazi Major August Diehl have a tense stand-off over Scotch in a French tavern. Valin Hess was chillingly played by Richard Brake who was The Night King in "Game of Thrones"! Yikes! 'Operation: Cinder' is from the "Battlefront" video game and canon comics. It was Palpatine's contingency plan to raze Imperial worlds as punishment for failing to defeat the Rebellion in the event of his death. Satellites were placed in orbit over designated worlds which would disrupt weather patterns cataclysmically. Billions of loyal Imperial citizens and troops were sacrificed to Palpatine's capricious vanity which caused many Imperials to defect. Mayfeld's act of defiance by shooting Hess and destroying the rhydonium was a thing of beauty. The ultimate pragmatist found a moral line he could not cross without losing sleep. Boba Fett unleashes a SEISMIC CHARGE last seen used by Jango in "Attack of the Clones"! Love that pregnant pause before the blow! Din sacrifices the tactical advantage of surprise to intimidatingly deliver Gideon's own speech back at him. Supremely satisfying but, perhaps, a strategic misstep? This layered and exciting episode was directed by apparent cinephile Rick Famuyiwa who directed the Mudhorn and prison break episodes last season. The Empire has its virtues, Abi! In LEGENDS, an alien species from outside the galaxy known as the YUUZHAN VONG invade about thirty years after "Return of the Jedi". Their technology is organic and completely alien to the mechanized technology of the Star Wars galaxy. They bombard worlds with terraforming spores. The New Republic is nearly destroyed by this invasion and only an alliance with the Imperial Remnants' Star Destroyer fleets turns the tide. The union of Republic and Empire is called THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE. THE GINA CARANO SCANDAL: Carano is an MMA fighter who broke through cinema-goers' consciousness with the amazing Steven Soderbergh-directed action film "Haywire"! You should react to it! She wrote some inflammatory tweets that got blown out of proportion. I'm a liberal and I'm as infuriated by what Disney did as the alt-right was. Unpopular opinions are what free speech is meant to protect so long as it isn't slander or an incitement to violence. I've been rooting for Gina since "Haywire" and loved Cara Dune. I'm appalled that Lucasfilm actively erased all traces of the character's existence down to the ACTION FIGURE! Was I disappointed that she was conservative? Sure, I was. Did I disagree with her positions on mask-wearing, voter fraud, BLM rallies and Holocaust analogies? I sure did. Do I believe she is a rabid transphobic, alt-right, anti-Semite racist? Of course not. It's obvious her tweets were blown out of proportion to suit a narrative. I'm able to separate the work from a performer's personal life. There are tons of conservative actors whose work I enjoy like Bruce Willis, James Woods, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Sinise, Mel Gibson, Vince Vaughn, etc. I saw the Ben Shapiro interview and Carano comes across as very genuine and somewhat naive. Hollywood is a fake town where perception is paramount. The political climate is more divisive currently than it has been in decades. Were I her, I would have steered clear of anything political on social media. When one is in the public eye, it's the most prudent course of action particularly if one's political awakening is as nascent and one's fledgling thoughts as basic as hers, self-admittedly, appear to have been. What's really going on here is a power struggle between Favreau and Kennedy for the future of Lucasfilm. Favreau scored a big victory with the Season 2 "Mandalorian" finale for reasons you'll see and Kennedy retaliated by taking one of his chess pieces off the board with a cheap shot. The irony is that Kennedy purportedly champions the advancement of strong female role models and has instead betrayed the sisterhood by destroying a woman who portrayed a character that embodied all the virtues she supposedly espouses and who was adored by men and women alike. Kennedy's faction at Lucasfilm is now targeting Bill Burr, Carl Weathers and Rosario Dawson in an effort to sabotage the Filoni-verse even if it means losing significant revenue just to maintain control over a property she clearly doesn't understand. I signed every petition to rehire Carano despite knowing it would do no good. Kathleen Kennedy is such a moron! She's killing the golden goose! My fear for Carano is that she's going to be co-opted as poster girl for a political ideology she doesn't really subscribe to which will effectively pigeon-hole her and limit her future career opportunities. That would be a terrible shame because she was a refreshingly singular talent who had just broken through into mainstream consciousness. I also really, really, REALLY hate that Cara Dune's going to vanish from the Star Wars universe. Dank Farrik!
The controversy lool she bit back at losers on twitter who attacked her for not having pronouns in her bio, she made fun of them and as usual..they go from attack mode to victim mode. sad sad people.
I'm not sure if you are aware of an old movie called "Wages of Fear" or the remake called "Sorcerer" - but the plot of that film was men hired to drive unstable explosives through a dangerous environment. The opening section reminded me very much of that film.
@@abi_corinne I'm not familiar with any collection it might be part of - but it was a 1953 film from France. (The title in France is "Le Salaire de la peur". ) The American remake "Sorcerer" was made in 1977actually takes place in a Jungle environment, while the original is in a desert environment. Both are good films!
First off... love your reactions..just recently found your channel. Love the emotion you have for these characters. You and I cry at the same moments. Lol! Seond, I just have to add my 2 cents. Gina Carano (Cara Dune) did nothing wrong. She is a strong woman who thinks for herself and doesn't let the mob tell her what to do. She is a kind and loving person in real life. All her costars have backed that up..Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Bill Burr... all of them. She is badass as Cara Dune and she is badass in real life. I truly believe she will return to the show before it's all said and done! And true fans will be thrilled!
I'm a firm believer that just cause the actor isn't a good person, doesn't mean we should forever hate every role they've ever done. I mean, look at Tom freakin Cruise. Dude has made some bad decisions in his life OMG. Still enjoy his movies though. Nothing wrong with admiring a thing well done, IMO.
Yep Richard Brake he was the Night King for Seasons 4 and 5. Also Mando is the Red Viper and had to trying in spear combat that’s why he is so good with a spear.
If you want I can give you the info about operation Cinder and what it entailed and what it did that was talked about. It's elaborated in the recentish star wars game battle front 2? I think it was.
#SPOILERS! Found on wookiepedia Operation: Cinder was the codename for the orbital bombardment campaign devised by Galactic Emperor Darth Sidious, who sought to punish the Galactic Empire for failing to prevent his death. Following the Emperor's demise during the Galactic Civil War in the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, his posthumous instructions were relayed to loyal Imperial officers by sentinel messenger droids. They targeted various planets across the galaxy, including Burnin Konn, Candovant, Abednedo, Commenor, and Nacronis, as well as Vardos, a world known for its loyalty to the Empire, and the Emperor's homeworld of Naboo. Although Naboo was saved during the Battle of Theed, Vardos was devastated by satellites that ravaged its ecological balance. Operation: Cinder was the first part in the Emperor's Contingency; the Empire was to be rebuilt in the Unknown Regions while Sidious was secretly revived on Exegol. The plan was undermined by Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, who killed the Emperor's protégé, Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax during the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY. The widespread destruction caused by Operation: Cinder also resulted in Iden Versio and Del Meeko-Imperial Special Forces commandos of Inferno Squad-defecting to the New Republic Defense Force. Despite these setbacks, the Contingency succeeded in ensuring the Empire's revival as the First Order, a military junta determined to recapture the Imperial legacy by ending the New Republic Era.
@@UncleMilo she never compared republicans to Jews in the holocaust, the press either misinterpreted what she wrote or intentionally twisted her words out of malice.
