Bo Katan actually did have the dark saber before in rebels. Sabine wren had found it and given it to her instead of combat. I think that’s what started the “curse” because right after that is when the empire took mandalore and Moff Gideon got the saber. Hope that helps a lil bit!

Yes Bo Katan used to wield the Darksaber in Rebels I believe or after she is given the Darksaber by Sabine Wren. She ruled with it for a while before losing it to Moff Gideon.

I thought it was sweet that they redeemed the rejected droid. Peli fixed him up and sent him off to do a good deed. We continue to underestimate droids. I think this series is going to elevate droids even more than the companion droid in Andor did. We always through Artoo was a special one, just one of a kind, but if this red droid can be redeemed… there is more story to be told here.

Highlights! Grogu takes control of a situation all by himself showing he’s able to handle himself! We got straight to the point and didn’t have a filler ep of mando getting a part for Ig11, he got a new droid and moved straight to mandalore Great world building and character writing Actually felt like a quality movie rather then a tv show, cinematic and amazing!

Bo-Katan is going to become a child of the watch. She's bathed in the water, too. I bet she's going to adopt this group and there'll be contention between her, Paz Vizla and Din. I think she'll eventually put Din forward for a leadership role and try to rebuild Mandalore

Yes as others have commented Bo-Katan wielded and was the owner of the Darksaber, she was the owner before Moff Gideon and was gifted it to her by Sabine Ren in Rebels, the only thing that is unclear about this is that it has yet to be fully explained how she lost it and it came to be in Moff Gideon's posession, because in season 2 during her first appearance in live action she interrogates men under his command for confirmation on if he has the Darksaber, so that means most likely she didn't lose it in combat to him and lose it through other events that happened, hopefully we get to find out what happened back then

Not only was it good, there was so much of it! I’m used to these shows being slow. Normally I would expect a whole side quest on Tatooine and then a whole episode looking for the tunnel and then a whole episode of Mando in that cage and Grogu trying to figure out how to free him. They accomplished so much and it was satisfying.

You don't need brute strength to use the Darksaber, it's more mental than physical. The owner of the dark saber must have a goal and determination, Din djarin mentally speaking is abstracted and doubtful, his current status within his clan and creed does not help him either and he lacks experience with the saber. But he is already taking the necessary steps to fix it. Little by little he is "growing up" metaphorically speaking. Soon he will become the Mandalorian who will unite the tribe and the culture.

BoKatan got the DARK Saber from Sabine, when she thought she could just pass that Thing and be rid of the responsiblity of ruling Mandalor, because she found the DARK Saber. Btw. Im not a SW superfan, but love the Bad Bach. I have seen every Episode so far.

Great episode! Love your recap Grace. One thought I had: I was reminded of Mad Max Fury Road when Mando was in the cage and the bug cyborg was hooking him up to drain his blood. Mando was a “blood bag” just like Max. Must have been a deliberate homage.

I really liked the episode and the organic view of the whole SW universe. Bo-Katan looks awesome and really skilled. On the part of the shadow-like monsters in the cave, they reminded me the "Bando Gora". In "Bounty Hunter", a video game with the story of Jango Fett, they appear as really hard to defeat. The way Jango appears there, ruthless, was something I missed in the Bobba Fett series. Cheers!

Also R5 gets his adventure Al be it brief but let’s take it, I think they will be linking the clans together to fight the Moff and Thrawn down the road. Give me more farm it. I don't hate it - it would also give them a workaround for having to fight one another for the Darksaber... maybe together they share it without combat and unite the two Mandalorian ideologies, and Mandalore.

Very good episode and perfect point to end the episode. I'm glad Mando got the mines early in the season instead of dragging it out. Makes me look forward to what this season is going to bring. This show is at the point where little character moments are a big deal for those who've watched since the beginning.

It was fine. Really don’t like the whole “live action cartoon” vibe this show has. It feels way too cheesy to take serious. Andor was my favorite show of 2021 and I was hoping it could serve as an entry point to Star Wars for me. But nothing else in the franchise has the same tone/level of writing.

It seems to me that the Darksaber works with people with a mind to rule. See, Din doesn't want to rule or bring back Mandalore, he wants to take care of Grogu and return to his tribe; whereas Bo Katan does want to rule the mandalorians and bring back Mandalore. In the case of Gideon he's in a conquistador state of mind and bringing the Empire back.

Absolutely need to get the Princess together with the Knight. This story made little sense, but visually it was great. It was Star Wars. Bo Kattan one of the best female Star Wars characters since Leia, which makes sense; she is a bit of Leia. Katee is a great sci fi/fantasy actress. I don’t follow actors personal lives, but she seems to get source material and seems to enjoy playing her role. Instead of a constant flat scowl; she always seems to have a sly smile on her face. She is a perfect love interest for Din. Because it’s Starbuck and because she does not tell you much better than men she is as a woman; her heroics are appreciated.

The crystal inside the saber has to connect with it's user. Bo Katan had it b4 so she has connected with it. Mando still hasn't yet so it is heavier for him. Strength plays not a big part because of the crystal needing to link with it's user. Maul had used it also. Bo Katan didn't win it in combat either.
