Again,another great video, It seems the potential of the xp2 Continues to impress, I like the one button press, To bounce from one program to another, Hearing what the different frequencies are saying, i Haven't even tried the notch settings yet, But seeing some pretty impressive results in trashy ground, useing the notch, Seems the xp2 is a Little More accurate, determining Ferris from non Ferris, Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, And experience, with With these machines, 👍🌊🏝

Glad you had him try the single frequency on the Manticore. If I owned this machine I would create a user profile so switching to the 5kHz mode is as easy as one key-stroke. I was playing with different frequencies on my 800 and found it is best to use a single frequency that doesn't sync up with the VDI that Multi-IQ reports. For high-conductor VDIs 5kHz is perfect (better than the 4kHz if you have a Nox). The reason is a high-conductor signal (ferrous or non-ferrous) really likes the lower frequencies. These cause huge eddy currents and this swamps out the receiver allowing the results to bleed into the neighboring area (ferrous targets bleed into the non-ferrous region). Since the new 900 and Manticore have added the 2.5kHz super-low frequency to the Multi-IQ rainbow of frequencies, the high-conductive iron produces huge eddy currents making it so easy to be misconstrued as a good target. Once you have found a possible good target, switch to a single frequency that is slightly mismatched. This will slightly reduce the induced eddy currents reducing those flooded false signals. You had a lead seal that sounded better on 40kHz, that makes perfect sense. Lead is a low-conductive metal so it plays best with high frequencies. If the lead was larger then it might have developed a grunt (flooded into the ferrous side), so then using 20kHz would be a better double-check single frequency. Thin aluminum (medium-conductive) will show a pull tab VDI in Multi-IQ and 15kHz, but 4 - 5kHz will make the thin aluminum appear to be a very jumpy VDI (as long as it isn't laying on the surface).

I have the D2 set up with custom programs where were a push of the button I go from General multi-frequency to 4 khz mono and then 40 khz mono. Doing this with both the D2 and the Manticore, the D2 still able to handle the Deep iron a little better. The field tests will continue

@@DetectorComparisons The Manticore and the new 900 series are claiming a deeper and more powerful output. But the reality is that the power is identical to all of the other models. The CTX, Nox-800 series, Manticore, and new 900 series all output 1 watt (the maximum allowable by the FCC here in the US. The Manticore and the 900 series have included the 2.5kHz signal to the Multi-IQ program. This new super-low frequency allows a deeper penetration so the marketing team can claim this increase in power and depth. As a result, these new M/L machines will light up the rusty iron and false signals will be an issue when in Multi-IQ.The thing I like about the D2 is it actually outputs more than the 1-watt FCC maximum, so it can dive deeper without making the iron glow red-hot (lol) and give you all of those false signals. As defined in FCC part 15.247(i), the power transmitted by the transmitter can only have a maximum power level of 1 watt or 30dBm. The Deus II: 3.9-135.7 Khz |

@@danblankenship5744 I've heard about the maximum allowable output being one watt. Thanks for posting the details here on the various machines; it makes sense why the Manticore is having some issues with deep iron in multi so setting it up like the D2 where you go to a custom single frequency mode may be the answer for now when checking deep iron falsing. I have heard good things about the Manticore in salt water so I look forward to taking it to some old dock sites that have abundance iron.

I'll be ordering a Deus 2 this Spring. Had high hopes for the Manticore as my first "premium" detector, but Minelab would have to update it to fix the deep iron problem(soon hopefully), supply waterproof headphones with the machine(doubtful), and shave a full pound off it's weight(very doubtful) to sway me at this point. Same price for either unit currently, but ergonomics and better performance in iron make the XP a better choice for me at this point. I haven't seen anything about the Mcore that makes me think it'll be dominating the top-tier detector segment anytime soon. To each his own though.

I agree with everything you have said. The audio on the manticore not a patch on the d2. The headphones are cheap feeling-far from the high end you would expect and few aftermarket options? You will not regret buying the D2.

I have to do some testing in highly mineralized ground to tell you exactly what I would use. The preset programs are real good on the D2 so I would experiment working Goldfield and Relic preset modes. I hope to be heading to Virginia soon so I can tweak the programs in the highly red mineralized dirt.

The Deus II continues to perform well. It seems to be an easy detector to navigate through programs and settings. Between that and the detector pro pinpointer you seem to have everything in great. Does the detector pro detect straight in front of does it hit around the sides? Personally I would prefer if the pinpointer searched out straight in front of it and not do this side scan.
@DetectorComparisons
@DetectorComparisons Год назад
The pinpointer is more sensitive straight in front but will also detected to the sides. It is very easy to switch between programs on the D2 especially when you customize them and save them in the order you would like
@steveallen984
@steveallen984 Год назад
@@DetectorComparisons So the pinpointer works almost like the old in line probes. I don't know if you remember or ever used one but a company named SunRay made this DX,-1 for the Whites DFX detector. You flipped a switch and it cut off the coil and the pinpointer became the coil and it would also read the VDI like the detectors coil. I see its a pulse pointer so it's not reading the VDI but that's no big deal. But does it Blue tooth and needs to be charged because I didn't see where it plugged in. I looked at their website and it was a little confusing. And what is the COMP toggle switch for. I get the other knobs and toggle. I'm really impressed with that Deus 2 and uniprobe set up I'm pretty much sold on getting a Deus 2 now. I'm a little confused on what you need to take it under water. It needs to link to the coil via cable and I suppose new hard wired headphones too? I guess I can take it step by step but figured I could get a better deal getting all the accessories all at once. I really like this Deus 2. Being in South Jersey I have Rev War sites in every direction and it's nice easy digging sand that Deus should have a field day. I do almost an equal amount of water hunting and I jumped the gun 2 years ago and picked up the AT Maxx. It's alright in these rivers and creek crossings but forget about the salty beach. I have a CZ-21 that runs stable but it's too heavy and the pinpoint button is moody as h*ll. A few people who know me that I get a little rough on the machines water hunting at times are telling me I would be better off with the Legend because the Deus may not take getting bounced around. I have seen many videos showing the Legend hit really deep targets on salt beaches but I'm not feeling that convinced on it hitting land targets like I'm watching you pull AND you ID the target conductivity pretty accurately. It's a lot to take in because I don't want to make a snap decision like I did with this Maxx especially when the price isn't a problem somehow I feel like I'm gonna wind up getting 2 new machines the Deus for land is pretty much a done deal for me but will it hold up water hunting IDK??? I want to go ahead and get them now to have some practice time in by summer being I don't think we're gonna freeze and I've already been out hitting the farms doing pretty good I just wonder if I'm going over deep targets. Or at least how many am I passing especially when there are some really good areas I have permissions where you only need to hit that 1 good target. A field I already pulled a FUGIO cent and early lead and pewter buttons but my buddy pulls a pine tree shilling out of the first field permission we started off this year at. It's already got me wondering what's deep in the ground in there because that's over a hundred years before the colonial coppers. Some of these militia buttons are worth more then these coppers will ever be even though they're clean from the sandy soil. It's killing me to think might walk over anything. That Deus will hit them I'm 100% convinced of this after seeing you pull up those low conductor pins and pieces you just pulled up really deep in this video and iron is not an issue so far. Ugh I'm about to get the pulse inductor out lol I'll dig for days to feel sure I'm not missing anything there lol SMH

@@steveallen984 I used to own the Sunray probe with my Explorer. It was a great idea but you did get much depth at all. The uniprobe is not the same concept, It is a pulse induction metal detector built into a set of headphones. The comp switch is needed since some older metal detectors are wired differently. IMO there is not one detector that does it all but so far the D2 and Manticore have done well. A lot more testing to do.

@@steveallen984 I ran the Sunray X1 on my E-Trac and loved the simplicity. It is still on the same E-Trac hanging on the wall like a relic. If they had upgraded that design which one had so much control.... nope, took 'em 3 more models to really upgrade.

Both the D2 and Manticore are doing fantastic. We have a lot more side by side testing to do but so far the only advantage I see is that the D2 is a little better on deep iron.
