The Many Faces of Adrenal Insufficiency 

I know this is an older post but I hope you response what have you done to treat the adrenal insufficiency? I feel like I know the answer 😢 but we're you able to get it back up and eventually get off medication ?

💜 Same here! It took YEARS and way too many Emergency and hospitalizations to be diagnosed 😢. After my son was born I had hypoglycemia and seizures from low blood sugars. Lost weight very fast. Kept eating small snacks to keep blood sugar up. Diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis (TPO level was 983) but thyroid, T4 and T3 was normal. Then my blood pressure was high so docs said no way do you have adrenal insufficiency. Begged for testing...was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and was put on hydrocortisone 15-20 mg/daily in split doses. Gained 50 pounds over 10 years. Still felt exausted, weak muscles and back pain. Told to decrease hydrocortisone because of Cushing look. Blood pressure normally ran 150's/110's and spiked to 200's/120's. Was switched to methylprednisolone 4mg daily (2mg in AM/2mg in afternoon)... begged to try something different. Lost 55 pounds in two years (down to 116 pounds now). Was also diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism. 💜

Yeah, that was a weird comment. The all-over ache feeling is one of my first signs that I need to stress-dose. There's an overconfidence that makes me sad. Not even a thought toward the idea of being wrong.

@@yHelloHello adrenal insufficiency yes. adrenal fatigue is not a medical diagnosis as of yet. But I do believe even w/ functioning adrenals, they can be sort of sluggish for reasons we don't know yet. Low cortisol will cause aches and pains

Me too, I have that type of AD. I have been able to stay off steroids for months and years at a time, but I've had to work part time and live a very chilled and quiet life. Now I take a little each day because I have to work more. Good luck to you, and I find alternative therapies., such as cranial osteopathy, ayuvedic medicine, acupuncture and herbs help a a lot too.

I have zero cortisol and zero acth. Scared cause I go Monday for a MRI. Thinking it’s a tumor

She has probably misdiagnosed a lot of patients with fibro.

Because Docs use fibromyalgia as a garbage bucket when they are lazy, cocky, and do not consider it is as serious as it is. Also, seems more worried about her own comfort than her patients having an appropriate diagnosis.

She sounds like a meaner, much nastier version of Castle's mother. Lol. I bet she isn't as pretty as she is though, lol.

I really thought this Doctor did a great job on this lecture and I learned a lot. She is a Doctor and she is a lot nicer and easier to understand than most Doctor's I have met and talked to. I liked this video so much I watched it twice and took notes. Very informative and like I said her attitude is better than most of the Doctor's you will meet and talk to for 25 minutes. Haven't seen many that would educate you for that long.

Hi, could you tell me how much time between your pituitary adenoma treatment and your secondary adrenal insufficiency diagnosis is and if your initial symptoms presentation happened as in an acute adrenal crisis (emergency) or was it a slow developing over many months or years till you got finally diagnosed? Also were your symptoms bad or worse everyday or were there good days and bad days? Because I am being evaluated for secondary adrenal insufficiency and I think there is high possibility of me having it but my doc (2nd consult now) thinks that secondary adrenal insufficiency patients don't have fluctuations in symptoms severity but that they feel bad al the time and also she mentions that trial of hydrocortisone even for 3 days will give significant symptom relief (no mention of how much dose of hydrocortisone). I am not so on board with this. Any knowledge and experiences from experienced patient/s will help a lot. Thanks

​@@MsFoundITI know your comment is very old, and so I hope you found the help that you needed, but I'm here to tell you that yes you absolutely can have good days and bad days because that's exactly how I would describe the nightmare that I went through for 3 years before getting diagnosed...I'm very lucky I didn't die.

Do you take fludrocortisone?

I'm sorry you have to deal with terrible doctors. Don't give up.

@T Tan u can't have adrenal insufficiency and take bovine. You would die. And if cassie has a 0.3 at 8am BLOOD cortisol test. And the follow up testing that stimulates your adrenals to see how they react, via injection, and they did not respond, no way you could walk around and live long.

@@fruitforlife4884 if your glands are not producing cortisol you have to take steroids. what you are pushing is snake oil for adrenal fatigue. these are not equivalent.

@T Tan Take the adrenal glandular alongside, they are gland specific and nutritive..There will be no interaction... Monitor how you feel and reduce your steroid accordingly... Never just stop taking pharmaceuticals, no need, you will organically have less and then no requirement for it.......🙏 Aldo a must, do some research but incorporate pure liqurish root extract, especially if you have low blood pressure.... Lastly, use hemp seed hearts sprinkled on all your meals, it balances cortisol levels.... Again, don't take my word for it.... Sadly when you substitute a gland with a steroid, eventually you lose that gland, it sits back and does nothing, why would it... The white coats know this, even veterinary care will only allow short term use in animals.. Blessings....🙂

Hope you reply although this is an old post but I hope you reply . I've been on prednisone for easily 4 years alternating . I've been on a very small dose (5mG) even tried to lower myself to 2.5mg but unsuccessful! Now I take it because I'm a post bone marrow transplant patient and its unfortunately what works best to suppress the immune system and not have complications with the donor cells. Now the most alarming is the weight lost and there is often lourd digestive noises as if my bowels are hyperactive . I'm convinced that as I'm trying to desperately come off I'm having adrenal insufficiency. Any suggestions to work along side à small dose like 5mg daily to avoid going back up !
