Fun fact about the "Plushies Take Manhattan" pitch: Scott has been making fun of this pitch for quite a while. Back in FNaF World, in the Freddy in Space minigame, the Evil Scott Cawthon talks about all the different FNaF sequels he'll make, with one of the games he makes up being "FNaF 59: Cupcake Takes Manhattan"
I respect Scott so much because he didn’t want to rush the movie and make it a flop but instead he wanted to take the long route so the fans could get the perfect movie
It's not very good. I see the potential. It just misses. It doesn't know what it wants to be. Too many ghost kids, not enough Afton, and it suffers from the pg-13 rating. There is plenty more, but that's my initial thoughts.
Actually baffles me it took Scott this long to decide on Mike as the focus of the movie. You'd think this would have been screenplay #1 all the way back during the WB days. Mike was the main character of the first game, why not try a story with him first? Either way, happy this is the movie we got. Awesome video as always my man! :D
I mean it possible that since each of the first three game had a different character as the main protagonist it would make sense to get a new before deciding on mike being g that main character again, also they need to story to stay true to fnaf which apparently many of the scripts weren’t
I think it’s because he was always trying to innovate and expand on the story back then so by the time 2 years ago when the movie was officially decided on. He was able to take a step back and realize the best choice.
When a movie has trouble being made, the pitches get fucking WEIRD and the people turning them in forget that this is the first movie in the franchise and they had better center in on some core source material
Rumor or no, if the Warner Bros version screenplay may have ended up as the basis for WB's Banana Splits movies, maybe the "Insane" Screenplay ended up as the basis for that Nicholas Cage one where he plays that mute janitor that beats the hell out of the haunted animatronics. That movie is insane and turns the premise into a total action-fest? I want to believe both cases are true, because the idea of someone writing a script, getting it rejected, but then _believing_ in what they did so much that they tweak it, make it original and then get it produced makes me happy. Y'know, it's the anti modern-Disney approach; put some love into what you do instead of just looking for a paycheck and shoving out crap for the sake of getting a product out at a certain quarter for financial reasons. Can we please get more movies like that? And I mean, imagine if that is true; now we're getting a real-deal FNAF movie that should be good, a better-than-expected Banana Splits movie and a totally rad "Willy's Wonderland" movie starring Nicholas Cage! Happy ending for everyone! Assuming any of that is true, hopefully whoever wrote the "Plushies Take Manhattan" script is trying to make that movie happen as an original horror movie now too, lol.
I think a detective investigating the Bite of 87 leading his way to the Pizzeria in a horror field finally would be prettycool for the next movie if they want to use different human characters for each new movie....You can also add a kid in there like having custody over his kid because he's been so busy investigating the case that he's hardly been spending time with his wife and child mainly the fact that he either lost one of his friends(Cop partner)or one of his first kids in the bite of 87,something like that would be pretty cool

The Mike screenplay was actually scrapped later on which is why it didn’t film in 2021 and then afterwards we got the script for the actual movie we’re getting
The mike script was never scrapped. Its the one they went with but becauae of covid they had to wait to audition and get the characters as well as retool the script.
@@Fall_Cake All of these scripts were with Warner Brothers, and Blum did say there were 15 scrapped scripts just with Blumhouse. The Mike screenplay was scrapped.

Scott cawthon actually was going to make a movie on basically everything in Fnaf from the start to pizzeria simulator but realised it would be way to long and rushed to fit everything in
I remember when I was 13 years old in 2015 when the movie was first announced by WB. I’m happy that Scott decided to give it to Blumhouse instead, since Scott wanted to be involved in the making of the movie, they were just not letting him being involved, like for God sake he’s the creator of the FNAF after all. to who God knows why they never give him any creative control, this movie would’ve been pretty bad if it wasn’t for Scott pulling the plug, and then changing studio. So it was a good choice to go with Blumhouse. He had so much more involvement from doing the script and even being involved in the filming. It must’ve been so cool to work on the movie. Then again he has worked on his own animated movies Way before FNAF was ever created. I’m so happy for him, and I’m so looking forward to this movie, movie of the year for me, as an OG fan since the original first game. Like when we only just had FNAF 1 by in 2014. It’s weird looking back at that it was so nostalgic for me thinking about when we used to just have the first two games, or even thinking we’re ever going to get more than the Second game
The best part of Scott going over to Blumhouse instead of WB (in my opinion), was that the movie would also guarantee opportunities of being a Haunted House at Halloween Horror Nights. Blumhouse and HHN have VERY close connections.

@@flarestriker2005 I was 12 when we just had the first game. it’s has been 8 years waiting for this movie, my most anticipated movie of the year. Seeing my favourite animatronic (Foxy) brought to life on the big screen is a dream come true for me
I’d say it was worth the wait, my friends and I have been waiting since back in the very beginning for the eventual movie and we loved it. I’m so thankful Scott took his time and made such a great celebration of the first game and honestly good adaptation, even though half of us could probably shake him for not taking this route first lol
Im soo happy Scott actually did stop the ScreenPlays that werent based on the games and books and didnt go the Route that some GAME Movies do that is have nothing related to the actual story of the real game just a random story that was adapted to have the Games characters.
Personally I think it would be best if Scott follows the games as hes doing for the first film, and seeing that this will be a trilogy of movies, it wuld be interesting if he were to incorporate some similar events to fnaf 4 as a flashback during the 2nd film, and even some bits of sister location perhaps leading into the 3rd film. I'm excited to see how this trilogy plays out
I was someone who was around in 2015 when the movie was first announced, and I've been along for the ride following every update in its very troubled development. Now that it's finally out, I just can't believe Scott and Blumhouse actually managed to pay it all off and make a good movie. The one reason I had faith in the movie was this post, because it told me Scott was on full quality control mode, and wouldn't allow anyone to turn his game franchise into a dime-a-dozen Hollywood adaptation with no respect for the source material. I knew that, even if we had to wait years, we would be waiting those years so we could get the best movie possible, and man, it feels like we did. I still can't believe it was actually worth the wait.
It was also good the purple Man Screenplay , because it could have showed how purple man stuff the kids in the suits , and the Animatronics get possesed and at the end of the movie Mike would hire at Freddy's as a security guard
Moral of the story: Five Nights at Freddy’s should not be a movie. It should be a TV series. Maybe a miniseries. Then you can have as much backstory for the protagonists as you want and still have plenty of Freddy time.
fuck it, make a live action cinematic universe. im so serious, that way, we can get the main continuity movies (like the games), then we can get anthology shows focusing on some of these subplots, as well as expanding the universe (LIKE THE FUCKING BOOKS!!!!!!)
@@therealestryangoslingever the thing is the movies would either have too much filler that strays far from the actual lore, or they will just be too short. Id say a tv show focusing on first henry and afton creating the company, to the end of fnaf. they can even split it up into seasons too.
After seeying the movie, i have to say they should have just used some of the later scrips and scotts vision did more harm than good. Feels like what happened assasins creed where having the creators involved made the movie feel like a cutscene for lore fans than a movie that stands on its own.
I think the problem was that they didn't use the permise to its full potential Like I'm pretty sure Mike dosent even defend himself in the security room at all lmao and the girl could of just been cut completely
I’m actually quite unclear with some parts of the movie, Isn’t Michael Schmidt the alias for Michael Afton in FNAF lore? Wouldn’t make much sense if Vanessa is William Afton’s daughter, since William Afton’s only daughter was Elizabeth Afton unless im getting something wrong
The thing about the FNAF franchise is that they change things up. It’s not supposed to be interconnected. Might sound a little dumb but that’s why I love it. Plus if they had Elizabeth there it would be too obvious and if mike knew Afton it would ruin the build up. I respect your opinion though, however I like the franchise like this :)
Its an adaptation, not a direct game > movie. They changed aspects to make things more comprehensive for the audience. I'd speculate the use of "Schmidt" is just another piece of fan service.
The ghost hunter one could almost have worked if it had two or three human characters (4+ would be too many). But I get why Scott thought they'd be too much of a distraction from the restaurant's story.

I'm honestly happy with how the novie was. Regardless what others say (not counting Rotten Tomatoes since they literally gave Cuties a high rating), I think it turned out great. I'm excited for the sequel, that is if there will be one, even if it takes another nine years. Even if it wasn't as terrifying as people wanted or expected, I enjoyed it.
Damn, Trying to make FNaF movie into a Ghostbusters Movie sound like what Hollywood would Do. But again, Leaving Freddy's story Behind isn't Good at all. Just like the DOOM Movie with no Doomguy and no Demons, Only Zombies on Mars, Mutant Humans and The Rock.
Like many have said, its so odd that it took THIS long for the script to be focused on Mike and be actually like the games. Apart of me believes Scott was doing a funny and the scripts are fake (or atleast half false) although not sure.
Well when the movie was first being made he said he wanted it to be in the same universe as the games. So I think he may have been writing himself into a corner and then said fuck it and just did the script we are getting

In 20 or 30 years or so there should be a biopic on Scott Cawthon and how his hard work over the years paved the way for him to get a film based on one of his games

I felt the movie was alright but could’ve been better. Could’ve been more scary. A game about jump scares and the movie had like 3 jump scares. Felt like it was catered more for the NEW Fnaf fans rather then old by keeping the dark elements from the 1-3.
Scott had a problem with the ghost trackers because it focusses too much on the characters backstory not on the story of Freddy's which actually happened in the FNAF Movie like WTF?
@@giacomo838 Yeah, pretty sure the script got cancelled when Scott "left" (he didn't really he's still behind everything) so they had to produce a new one which was the one that ended up being used in the film today. Think about it this way, if the Mike script actually WAS used then the FNaF movie would've been released early-mid 2022, nowhere near the date it was actually released.
@@giacomo838 Yes but at the time Jason Blum said that the director had left and that they were working on a new script. Even if the script we have today is pretty similar to the Mike script it still isn't the same, so saying that this movie is the Mike script is probably wrong. Also again like I said, if the Mike script was chosen the movie would've released early-mid 2022 since Scott said they'd start filming in spring 2021. That's really the biggest clue for that. Also Scott said that the Mike script would take everything good from the previous scripts and put it into one movie. If it did, then imo it would've made Mike actually Michael Afton and make his connection stronger with the whole place since one of the main problems with most of the previous scripts was that the characters didn't have any real connection to the place. If the movie had just made Mike Michael Afton well then that would've been fixed. Imo it seems like the Mike screenplay would've had more FNaF lore in it than it has today. And heck, one of the screenplays had characters which had the same name as some of the game characters but had literally no connection to them or weren't anything like them, and Scott scrapped that script because he said it was "too loosely based" so it "lost its impact". So yeah.

But the FNAF series as a whole hasn't been good since 2015 so what can u expect lol. Really the movie should've just been almost a recreation of the first game, canon characters. More in depth with the lore. Satisfy fans and newcomers.😂
It's funny that it seemingly took so many scripts just to end up with something that really wasn't that great in its own right, let alone that much better than many of the pitches. Maybe it would've benefited Scott to have just been a consultant and left the screenplay and story to people who do it as their career, since it feels like he kept missing the forest for the trees with these attempts and what ended up in the final film.
I genuinely don’t understand how it took so long to go with the setup from the first game. They finally did it for the final product but holy fucking shit I felt like screaming at the scripts Scott posted. So glad they went with the basic set up instead of these other batshit insane drafts they had
Scott wasn't the only one writing the scripts. For a long while, other people were and he was reviewing them. I don't know when, but he finally decided after enough failed scripts to write it himself.
Making a movie based on Five Nights at Freddy's does feel like a difficult job. You have to keep in mind that the security guard coming back for the next night is a part of the gameplay. In a movie or in real life, he/she would quit their job at the restaurant as soon as they see Foxy running down the corridor. So I hope the movie gives us an explanation.
they should have made it a tv show. Then they could have followed henry and afton creating the company, their falling out, aftons life with all of the murders, etc. Then go to another main character in fnaf 2, 1, and 3. Its not that hard to do given you have lore videos literally laying out the entire story.
The movie is almost entirely focused on Mike’s motivations for being there. Hell, his motivations are a bigger plot point than the goddamn animatronics themselves.
I would’ve never thought it would take so long to decide on a idea like this. But I’m glad Scott took his time and thought about it, the “Mike” screenplay was the best choice in my opinion, and I cannot wait to see it October 27!
Funny how after all these versions, they went for the one closest to the first game’s story. Gives me a feeling of reassurance that the people behind the FNAF know what makes FNAF fun.
@@spoiledsalad1851the thing with the games is you have a constant sense of dread, you know you can be killed if you make mistakes. But with the movie it was more wholesome-ish and focused on emotions, which is nice on its own, but it’s not completely similar to the games.
It wasn’t a “horror” movie, but it was enjoyable. I just wish they chilled out with the exposition and let things be subtle, because the story was just not that well written due to it
Looking back on it, I kind of believe the pawn shop screenplay was ultimately used for security breach. Not directly used but you could tell atleast some core elements were used, especially with the whole "a boy and his robot". I don't know, this always felt like an interesting coincidence that I still wonder if it's true or not.
You say that but honestly all the stuff Seth Rogan has been a part of recently has been really good. The Boys, Invincible and TMNT Mutant Mayhem were all very good. He probably wouldn’t have been a good fit for FNAF tho let’s be honest
It's really satisfying to see these kind of videos explaining the scrapped scripts, it gaves me nostalgic vibes since the first time I've read these ones at the time in 2020. That's was a surprise and I had big feelings about the movie, and it was three years ago...
Thank God Scott didn't go with the books because the fan base would have been in an uproar. Just remake the games. The story behind the games is iconic and the books sucked.
My only gripe is why not make a movie using FNAF4’s story?! Make the main character the grieving brother who wants to atone for his sins, that way he has a reason to come back and maybe have the story about his guilt and how he’s inadvertently helping William Afton. So much better.
Watching this after watching the movie is, a lil disappointing, cause I feel like a good amount of the issues that the scrapped screenplays had, were still present in the movie (Biggest example to me being the verdict for the Random Charlie screenplay)
Funny how all the little kids in these comments are complaining about why he didn’t start with Mike. They have no IDEA how complicated making a movie and writing it is. A series of figuring out budget, location, lore, keeping og fans happy, new fans happy and that’s all the “easy stuff” the rest is all technical and financial. Not to mention this needing to work with all the producers as well. Sure having the story we’re getting is the best way and some may have thought of a very similar story… but it’s NEVER that simple in the film industry. I think we can all agree we’re just happy to be getting it though!!
The only thing I’m concerned about is having Abby at the pizzeria when Mike is there. Like, I feel like it’s just gonna be a like a cliche, friendly iron giant type thing, or spirits team up to fight off William. I’m worried for this movie
