@@SynnKumo I did. It’s a great mic for the money. Now my spare mic after getting an SM7B and MV7. You can tell the difference between them. But still can’t fault the Maono.
Excellent video, Mike! Hunting down for a final microphone and watching review videos have been fun. Picking one is another story. After Maono PD400X, I'll go for low profile 🎤 boom arm heavy duty.
@@RetroBigCat75 my maono low profile boom arm can handle 4lb mics no problem, and it would be a perfect match to the pd400x if you’re leaning that way!
@@levelupwithmikenewman Yeah. I watched your PD400X (Maono) multiple times. Plus, I saw where Samson q9u (2.13 lb) can hold. If that's the case, there should be no excuse for Maono PD400X not to be hold by it's product low profile 🎤 boom arm heavy duty. Not to mention that there's IXTech, VIVO and Mount It for heavy duty as well.
Best review I’ve watched on this mic and I’ve watched almost every one lol 😂 but I ordered this and the AMe2.. can you get the AMe2 and do a setup overview with this mic. Usually I would never ask something like that. You should have more subs! So I’m a new sub :)
Actually, I just finished my review of the AME2 today. Should be able to post it Thursday. I will say that when I reviewed it that there is a little bit of reverb that still goes through your headphones, but it doesn’t record that way . a little frustrating to be honest. I was really looking forward to getting my hands on one. But if a little bit of reverb in your headphone monitoring doesn’t bug you, it is a really awesome interface.
@@levelupwithmikenewman Awesome! looking forward to your review. A little reverb is okay. I just received the AME2 today but not the pd400x yet. I ordered it as a bundle so not sure why it didn’t all come together, hopefully will arrive soon.
I just realized I only used my Maono PD100 mic on this for the review. I going to record a quick segment with Borge the PD400x, PD200x and the Shure SM7B on it and add that in the review. Review will be up on RU-vid by the end of the week though so you won’t have to wait long
@@thegreatlifereset 🤣😂 your Peter or my Peter.? I’m almost positive more than one Peter picked pickles 🥒 in our lifetime. Lol. Not every Peter picks the same way… 😂🤣
@@thegreatlifereset nope! LOVE IT. Great bright crisp, clear sound, build quality is great! My son stole it from me for his livestream gaming….I have to fight him for it when I want to use it. I let him choose between the pd400x and the shire MV7 ($250) and he took my pd400x… and I think it’s better than the MV7 at that price to boot!
@thegreatlifereset not a bit!!! I love how crisp and clear it is…the older it gets the more I love it. My son uses it in his gaming livestream. I have to steal it back when I need it. Worth every penny!
Hi, really good video. I have a question? Like if I use usb option, and change few eq with the app, and then connect it to another pc, will it have the settings on it? Or I should install the app on all pc?
You need more subs. Very professional! But honestly I'm dumb and can't tell the difference between the other mics. Is it a big difference or is it subtle?
Thank you! It’s definitely tough sledding in the first year for RU-vid to push your content on people’s feeds, but just gotta hunker down and keep pushing until I get to a 1000 subs. As for the mics, It’s subtle, but can be big depending on the tone of your voice and what you are trying to get out of your sound. Spoken word, singing, recording instruments, etc. This mic stands out for a great sound but the fact it comes with the Maono App to mix your audio even more in usb mode, and it’s durability. I would say more than 80% of listeners can’t tell why mic you use if they are unable to see it on camera, so it comes down to how you want your voice to sound. You want a brighter voice, flat/neutral sound, or would you like it to be deeper/darker.
@levelupwithmikenewman I appreciate the quick response! I'm really trying to decide on the best mic for me and this video helped me make my decision! I just hope it lasts a long time, the mic I have now lasted less than 6 month before it now just makes me sound muffled.
@@levelupwithmikenewman sorry to bother you one more time. but I just barely got the mic and I've noticed that its super sensitive. like it will pickup any sound in the room. like my keyboard and mouse clicks. and even my fan. is that what others will hear? or is that because i have a headset plugged into it so that's just what i can hear? is there a way to kind of make it noice canceling in a way? and would changing the limiter and compressor settings do anything to help?
@@Wezzzyboy123 I always use noise suppression filter in OBS for all my mics, that usually helps with fan noise and keyboard clicks for my mics, and mic position on my boom arm ( mic pointed 🎤 instead of high on my arm and pointed down, and keyboard behind the mic instead of directly below it. Most mics are going to pick up those noises, just gotta do your best to keep them to a minimum. 👍🏻I always keep my fan outside my room but point it towards my open door, and have my mic pointed away from the fan so the fan is directly behind it and not beside it or behind me. 👍🏻
How does it do with background noise? In raw audio, plug and play with no interface? I saw a review that said it acts more like a condenser instead of a dynamic because it picks up on noise a lot even from afar
It does want to act like a condenser in that it focuses on the higher end of the EQ. And mics that are brighter. Tend to pick up more noises as far as fans and airy sounds in your room. If you have a room with a lot of noise, you definitely want to get a microphone with a deeper darker sound to it as it focuses on the lower end and not so much the airy sounds
For my voice the PD400x is cleaner, brighter and it also includes a app interface for USB. My 20 year old son would argue the k688 is better though. Just depends your flavor. I give the edge personally to the PD400x but it is also almost twice the price too though
I think the the pd400x has a better sound in usb than most mics out of the box, but xlr has the better sound for me both out of the box and with EQ. You can do more with it with your EQ too.
@@levelupwithmikenewman I see, I've been using it on USB and kinda made an impulsive purchase to get the Audient Evo 4. It was only $97(original price was $130) and the offer was gonna end in a few hours, so I had to get it lol. Just wanted to know if it's worth the upgrade from USB to XLR, that's all!
@@unbiasOrbit your audio in usb will be great with this mic. Upgrading to xlr will be more for you leveling up your sound “if” you want more out of it than what you hear while on USB. Also xlr is more friendly for streams, videos with more than one person as well, but if it’s just you in your content, usb is a very stress free set-up and with the PD400x, a very clean EQ out of the box to go with the easy setup. 👍🏻
Once you set the settings through the software for the mic (PD400x) does it STAY with those settings? In other words, if a month later I turn the mic on and record a podcast using Cleanfeed (since my podcast is interview based) will those settings for the mic created in the software still apply?
Don't know about a month but if you set it up on a device and then move to another device it keeps the settings My only issue with this mic is it dose not work well with an iPhone and no software on Apple store . Works fine with Android though
I didnt use mine for over a month and just used it for another review I am putting together, and when I plugged it in, everything was right where I left it. Mine stays in the same setting and won't change until I change it in the app.
@@hesham69 Thanks for the thumbs up on Android. I wish there were a video just about using mics with smartphone videos. Nice to read that it works fine.🤔
I like the look of the Maono better out of the box. For singing I think the FiFine would be a better mic for mids and highs, but the audio for the Maono is better on the darker/ low end. Maono better for podcasting. From a pure sound perspective the FiFine has a slight edge for the high end of vocals. Hope this helps
@@coffeeatthecross1286 thanks man! Definitely helps for sure. Still going to think about which one to get but I’ll just get a Shure sm7b pop filter for the fifine k688 if I decide to go with that. Keep up the videos! Subscribed👍🏼
