One last part to my comment re: “please don’t judge Marcus on one song” is this… not that it matters, but I am a 69 year old woman. I didn’t get to see Jimi Hendrix, or Stevie Ray Vaughan… but I have tix to see Marcus King in September, at The Beacon Theatre in NYC… and I am THRILLED!!!💙💙💙

Marcus King is very eclectic where each song can sound very very different. However, MK has come a long way in developing his style. His first work was all kinda jam band stuff like this, but his recently albums have dived into a much more organized style. I think you guys may feel very differently about his other work.

Oh yeah, these guys have some funk in them. Great summer driving music. Band is tight as all hell, for being so young. He seems like he was just born with it in his soul. He's got a ton of gravel and grit that he uses to full effect. BP1 can't help he has no taste when it comes to blues, funk or country ;-) I have a superbly eclectic band to add you your list though. Steve n Seagulls. They're a Finnish band that does metal covers in a very...."unique" way LOL. Try Thunderstruck (AC/DC) or Nothing Else Matters (Metallica). You wont regret it, if for no other reason than the humor factor. They're super good musicians as well, but man it's .."unique".

@Daniel O'Sheigh LOL< yeah we are trying to get him to have more of a love for Blue's. I think it's the length of the song that gets him!! As for "Steve n Seagulls" I have seem them mentioned a few times. So we will give them a go soon.!! Have a great day.

Good band, interesting arrangement. King's vocals aren't too interesting, though. Yes, he has a nice raspy voice, good control, does nice runs, that's all fine. But the delivery is very much on one level and the vocal melody isn't catchy enough to compensate that. I find them always fun to listen to, but I hardly ever go back to a specific song. The other aspect here is his youth - that kind of reputation can be tricky in the long run. Does anybody remember Johnny Lang? He was 15 or so when he became famous, also a good guitar player with an old sounding voice... All in all that works certainly better for people who really enjoy the particular style and the execution. And some of that is really cool. :)
