Within the lands of Natlan, there is a dangerous and mysterious place known as the Mare Jivari. Few dare to travel through these ashen plains, but the Lavawalker was one exception. In this video, I go over the lore presented in the Lavawalker artifact set and the history of the Mare Jivari.

Zhongli sitting and thinking in every video is so canon, since he knows about all of the regions considering he has been there for 6000 years.

@@JoshuaA1307 No, they'll struggle to get it out of it so they'll simply kidnap him and use him as a chess piece, like: "Bennett, go B7". That why we won't be in a rush and we will have like, 14 event before Sneznahya

I had no idea the mare jivari wasn't created in the cataclysm, that's interesting, perhaps the beast that Stanley died for could be what remained from the Phoenix or even the Lavawalker himself if he got corrupt by the abyss

I really like the death of god idea. We already have many landscapes that have originated this way, like Yashori Island, Tsurumi Island, And the Amrita. It'd also be very cool if they give us stanley's notes scattered as we explore the area, and eventually get to fight the monster that killed him!

2:05 could be when king deshret lost control of the forbidden knowledge, since mare jivari seems to be connected with sumeru's desert, and the talking stick talks about a "dark smoke" approaching in the horizon

2:00 With new artifacts, i think there's a possible time frame on when the Tide might have come and from what. It mentions: "The red-eyed youth, through countless calamities, returned from the kingdom where water flowed as rays of light to the hilly heights of the ineffable city." That last part + if the ending of Faded Theater domain description implies this youth: "Until one day, by chance, it was deliberately picked up once more, and became the prelude to a new dream." might mean that the youth came back from Remuria (The domain talks about Remuria). If so, then it's very possible that the tide (Or torrent of darkness, as said in the new artifact), which came after the return of this youth since another character later goes to fight it too, might have resulted from Deshret's introduction of forbidden knowledge. It would fit the time frame i think and make sense, since Natlan is supposedly the closest region to Deshret's part of the desert. It also fits with Wanderer's troupe i think. And it also fits with the fact the tide "welled up from the horizon", which to me reads as if it came from outside of Natlan

It would be awesome if we find some kind of paradise hidden below mare jivari, almost like the eternal oasis was aww inspiring moment in the quest

it should be noted that there is a geotic demon named phenex who is literally a phoenix. That could tie in if it was a god's death that caused the area to become what it is now

The chinese version of the game descriptions implies the Mare Jivari had two states in the past, if I recall correctly theres "The Ashen Sea" (which is described as a scorching and arduous place) and "Silent Sea of Ashes" (which is decribed as a desolate domain with nothing there at all) maybe the Mare Jivari already existed but turned into something else after the events of the talking stick

ahh i also wonder about the other fallen civilization mentioned during the narzisenkreuz storyline such as Yith Arcadia Natlantean Hyperborea perhaps by looking to their possible realworld counterparts we could predict where and why the civilization fell

Well, i actually did look at the names at some point after the quest and i find Yith (or Ys as it's also called in game, notably by Mary-Ann at the end of the quest chain) the most interesting. Ys (also spelled Is or Kêr-Is in Breton, and Ville d'Ys in French) is a mythical city on the coast of Brittany that was swallowed up by the ocean. Most versions of the legend place the city in the Baie de Douarnenez. But Yith or Yithians are a fictional species of sapient extraterrestrial beings, created by H. P. Lovecraft in his story The Shadow Out of Time. Their most notable feature is an ability to coercively exchange minds with individuals of other species, even across great spans of time and space. Genshin has quite a bit of Lovecraft references but this + Basil Elton (also a name of character from Lovecraft stories and whom genshin's Basil is based on i think) make me wonder if there was a kingdom with relations to lovecraftian cosmology or something (I still believe Vera's Melancholy might talk about something like this) Arcadia interesting in the fact that we knew about it from 1.0, it's the ruins Kaeya told us about (even though the sword was a lie, we don't know about the ruins for sure): "Kaeya: According to his notes, the treasure is buried in the "Lost Arcadian Ruins."" Interesting that he also mentions a sword "that grants the wielder unrivaled power" being the treasure and it's basically what the sword of Narzissus was. From real life it probably refers to utopia Arcadia - a vision of pastoralism and harmony with nature. The term is derived from the Greek province of the same name which dates to antiquity; the province's mountainous topography and sparse population of pastoralists later caused the word Arcadia to develop into a poetic byword for an idyllic vision of unspoiled wilderness. Natlantean i'm not sure 100%, could just be referring to Natlan (or some ancient kingdom in it) For real life, Natlan's name probably based on Aztlán - the ancestral home of the Aztec peoples. Astekah is the Nahuatl word for "people from Aztlan". GOLDEN Hyperborea (Golden is important i think since it's almost always used with Hyperborea). Based on Ballad of the Fjord i think it might be an ancient civilization from Snezhnaya in the game. IRL, In Greek mythology, the Hyperboreans were a mythical people who lived in the far northern part of the known world. Their name appears to derive from the Greek ὑπέρ Βορέᾱ, "beyond Boreas" (the God of the North Wind), although some scholars prefer a derivation from ὑπερφέρω ("to carry over"). Despite their location in an otherwise frigid part of the world, the Hyperboreans were believed to inhabit a sunny, temperate, and divinely-blessed land. In many versions of the story, they lived north of the Riphean Mountains, which shielded them from the effects of the cold North Wind. The oldest myths portray them as the favorites of Apollo, and some ancient Greek writers regarded the Hyperboreans as the mythical founders of Apollo's shrines at Delos and Delphi. Delphi is interesting bc it's an actual place in Enka too, referred to as the Serpent's Land and previously called The Serpent's Heart. The name predated Orobashi and instead was referring to Ouroboros (which is another can of worm considering Dain''s constellation name) Also, based on Root Cycle description (the 3 part key during Nazissenkreuz quest), these names go in reverse i think. So, the root cycles there start from Hyperborea, then Natlantean, then Remuria, which i think, with what real life Ys represents, is supposed to be Yith/Ys, and then Khraun-Arya, which, if we take the Remuria approach, would be Arcadia i guess. But this is mostly random and could be just connected for the first 2 Well, hope you liked this random wall of text
