The marine iguana 

The marine iguana is only found on the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). We saw them on San Cristobal Island and on Santa Cruz Island, on the beach but also in the shopping streets! This iguana feeds almost exclusively on algae. It was high on our Wishlist to see them feed underwater. At Fernandina Island we got lucky and saw many dive into the water, swim to a rock, cling onto it and start grazing underwater. Before and after their dive in the cold water they need to warm up on the rocks.
