Wow! How cool to see a uplifted marine surface similar to that of a terrestrial "peneplain"! A whole sea floor pushed up intact. No oregeny! Amazing that such a surface is so intact. ❤ those mini vents!

I stopped travelling for ethical reasons, but i allowed myself one final destination.... I thought it was all about uncommonly gross Wood Pigeons and some remarkable flora - now i have another reason: fascinating topography. Many thanks for your work. All the best from a cabin in a swamp in a rainforest in Taranaki.

Are the volcanos aligned because of fault lines or was something like is happening in hawaii, the plate moving under a hot spot?

I'd love to ask if that barren, desert landscape devoid of trees and wildlife is natural - but it's going to be us yet again isn't it 😢.....same thing we did to Scotland etc etc etc. Fascinating video though. Thank you.

Thanks for your comment. It was once covered with forest but that was mostly cleared for farming and living settlements since humans arrived about 700 years ago. There are pockets of native forest still in some places as well as on some of the outlying islands.

Looks of it, should have been named "Bristol Island".

where are the shorelines?
@OutThereLearning
@OutThereLearning 8 месяцев назад
As the land rose, they would have gradually appeared around the volcanic cones and spread out to their present location.

Cool. Were the Chathams forested prior to human colonisation?
@OutThereLearning
@OutThereLearning 8 месяцев назад
Yes they were. Hence thick layers of peat around the landscape with lots of wood, tree stumps etc.
