The Marineland Adventure (1984) 

It's easy to forget despite some marine parks & zoos being inadequate for captive animals, the keepers, trainers vets.... they all cared deeply for the animals and did the best they could to look after them. Also people tend to forget for some without these places they would never learn about the creatures within, their plight in the wild and these days, in going conservation efforts that are in place to protect them. It's the people in charge that only saw dollar signs that were always the problem. These days the remaining marine parks and zoos do whatever they can to educate and improve the life of creatures still within their care, especially since we know more now than we ever did and are still learning.

My mom used to tell me about this place and how she used to go there instead of SeaWorld because MarineLand was like 30 minutes from where she lived while SeaWorld was 2 hours away.

Nice! I loved Marineland...what a great place that was. All the animals were so special and gave such joy to many. I wish this film showed more of Bubbles the pilot whale, but at least it covered her "air spin". Rest in peace, beloved Bubbles.

I worked at marinland in the early 80s. I loved playing with the dolphins every morning.

I’m somewhat glad this place closed. The animals were moved to SeaWorld where they have much larger habitats

Very cool. Thanks for posting this. For years I've been looking for pic or video of the swim-through reef. I went on that attraction once when it was new and miss never being able to go on it again. So grateful that you were able to post this glimpse into the peak days of the park. Still mad at HBJ for screwing everyone out of that place.

I'm from PVE and I used to go there a lot.

I live in San Pedro and totally forgot about this place until right now. I woke up out of nowhere thinking about marine land! This place was to good to be true wish it was still there. At least we get to enjoy this extensive detailed footage. Greeting to everyone in the comment section.

It may look beautiful to those on the other side of the prison walls, but this was a prison nothing less. An animal prison where they were forced to perform for their food. We treat Charles Manson better than we did these sweet animals :(

This was in one of the songs in the show Kidsongs, which was filmed one year before the place closed.

I went there around that very time for an elementary school field trip. I was so sad when it closed. 😞

Hmmm… Haven’t I seen something similar on a National Geographic Documentary? (GASP) The Great Whales! I thought there was something familiar about this once proud Marineland. I liked parts with the Orcas & the Dolphins seen on The Great Whales.

The most intelligent creatures at the top of the food chain were actually shocked to learn other animals are sentient........

I was problem at marineland more than anyone most likely I always thought they would keep it open guess I was wrong thanks for the you tube TV they are all really nice it broughtback memories
