Marmalade never got the recognition they deserved as musicians. This beautiful acoustic pop-folk song is their crowning moment. Blow that mouth harp, Dean!
Maybe they didn't get the recognition 11 years ago but they now have almost 2 million views on "Rainbow" and not to mention "Reflections of my life" their biggest hit has over 38 million views, so no we can be fairly sure that Marmalade has secured their place in Rock & Roll History, on RU-vid and other venues!
Who remembers when these days were fresh and young. Now with a tear in my eye I look back on them, remembering friends and family who are gone now, but like this song, will live on in my heart forever.
Well said Jimmy . It was great to be young and have great music like this to listen to. Sad to think of those friends and family that have left us since then.
@@cruiser1947 So true. When I look around at the world today I honestly believe we had it all back then. Someone said we are the most fortunate generation being the sons and daughters of the greatest generation. Have to agree.
This is simply a track of pure beauty. I was only seven when my Dad, sadly no longer with me, played this song, and I was just smitten. I've loved them eversince. Beautiful compositional skills that created an unpretentious and irresistible sound. Marmalade are very special 🧡
This was one my late father's favourite songs. As soon as I hear the harmonica in the intro I see his smiling face and am filled with the warmth of love he always gave me. I will always miss him and love him and be grateful for beautiful songs like this that remind me of all the wonderful times we spent together just listening to music sharing stories and just having a good laugh.
Junior I am 64 now but fondly remember Hallelujah Freedom, it was, and still is a classic in my book, it just reminds me of a time when life felt great and you never thought about growing old. Well now I am but can still enjoy the music of those magical years full of fond memories, cheers...
Heartbeat has just brought me here. Loved this track back in the day. I learned how to sing harmonies by singing along to this band. At 66 I'm still singing harmonies. 💖
it seems to be going through a bit of a renaissance over the last year or so. Quite rightly so in my opinion. It is on a site related to the Vietnam veterans. That one alone has 7 or 8 million views
In America we didn't know this, Reflections was it. Both super songs, i am now checking Brit charts in the 50's 60's and 70's playing all the tunes we never heard in the states Lots of GREAT stuff!!!!
Living in Brazil, I never imagined I could see onde day The Marmalade in video. One of the best bands of the 60s and 70s. Thanks for posting this video.
I met Marmalade when iwas about 9yrs old stayed at my Nan's pub ,They were really nice .Didn't appreciate there music untill in my teens. But will never forget how really nice they were.
I had this tune stuck in my head the other day but could not recall what it was called! At first I had in mind Graham Nash singing the harmony as it reminded me of "Marrakesh Express". It took me a while but once I realised it was not CSNY nor the Hollies I tracked it down! Marmalade were certainly a versatile band!
Stumbled upon this song about 2 years ago. Listened to it every so often since. I call this my happy song as any time I hear it I can't help but smile and sing along. Beautiful song by a wonderful band. Long live Marmalade!!
Always loved this flip-side to "Reflections Of My Life" as I have the 45 RPM single. It's a beautiful lesson in what ends up as three-part harmony. This video is a revelation in that only two members of the band sing. The third part toward the end must be multi-tracked over the first two. I never get tired of hearing this.
I'm Brazilian and this song makes me go back to my teenage years, I listened to this type of music a lot, which were part of what I have recorded in my heart today as super special songs. For many years I searched for this song "Raimbow", but now with the technology of the internet I found it, and I listen to it every day, which makes me an incredible asset, apart from the good memories that always come back in my life.
Just watch an episode of heartbeat and heard this song and it took me back to those great days of my youth I just had to look it up and play it on RU-vid (thank you) in my 70s now the jersey cows only bettered by the Guernsey cows both by far the best looking milk cows in the world ps the lady rainbow dancer looks stunning 🤩 where is she now I wonder regards to you all Mike sol’s
I just heard this on the radio as part of a twin spin and I looked it up here on RU-vid. I'm 42 and always looking for the bottom 20 or minor hits on here after hearing them on a radio station or TV show and other places. I love oldies and classic hits stations along with classic country stations.
@Wildenfree1 Agreed- social unrest, civil rights, political revolution and anti-war protests made for some violent scenes on city streets in the late 60s, some of it justified (but I wouldn't condone it) but... as a backdrop, IMHO 1966 to 1969 really *was* the musical pinnacle of the 60s. Man, there was *great* musical talent on show.
Esta cancion es maravillosa,la escuche sin saber ingles de niño,y siempre me ha llegado muy dentro, volverla a recuperar a sido una alegria para mi corazon.gracias.
WOW! Thanks for this! I have a fuzzy B&W version of this film (with fuzzy mono sound) so it;s cool to hear stereo & see colour!! 🙂 That part with the cows backing away as the lady walks by -- ha ha! 😄
Uma banda magnífica. O seu reconhecimento está dentro de corações fantásticos. O nível desta banda não eh para qualquer um, eles são ótimos músicos!!!!
@@DavidCKendallExactly, this is the reason i named and the 3dogNight As matter of fact i search them on ytb and they did exist from 1968.This song-band i hear it first time today.Very very good.Have no bad attempts to question you about your comment.Just ignore.Greetings from Greece
Great song...great harmonies.....Reflections of My Life is in my Top 20 of all time...love the folksy side of this tune.....and just like my #2 song of all time, The Hollies He Ain't Heavy, (#1 is More Today Than Yesterday by Spiral Staircase), I LOVE a bit of harmonica.
Really underrated band. I think they weren't taken too seriously in the day because their first couple of hits stuck them firmly in the pop category at a time when being 'pop' or 'rock' was a credibility-dividing line that many bands found hard to recover from. If CSNY had done this would it now be hailed as a classic?
A proto- Music video, over a decade before MTV claimed to "invent" them! The "rainbow lady" seen in this film is an absolute beauty! Something about the Earthly beauty of those 60s ladies!
@@jayanxiety The late Michael Nesmith.from the Monkees claimed he invented MTV and videos. I am constantly amazed at how many promo videos were made in the '60s by even more obscure bands.
@@lemurianchick I saw an entire promo film by the Sunshine Pop band "Spanky and Our Gang", complete with concept videos, travel footage and even a bit of a story.
