@@premanadi They also did this bit many times live. What you might be forgetting is that by the time they did movies they had already been honing their act on stage for many years and could probably do that bit blindfolded. Don't kill the magic. :)
The Marx Bros were my absolute favorites. Thx for this nostalgic treat of a scene. It still makes me laugh just as hard as I did the first time I watched it.
Harpo is so adorable in this, especially when he breaks character. It's always a little strange to watch alone, since it's completely silent. It's meant to be seen in a cinema, surrounded by a crowd of people laughing hysterically.
We did this recently at the American Humanist Conference as an ice-breaking exercise for children... as well as adults. Each partner took turns being the "leader", which the other tried to follow. It was fun, and I thought VERY effective at getting stuffy adults to laugh and play a little.
Marx bros did not create this bit. They just perfected it. It works because the bros look so much alike and were able to mimic each others facial expressions
My friend Chas remninded me of this clip recently, thought I would share the sheer joy of this mainly silent sketch with you all so please watch and enjoy.
Brilliant. I love all their movies, but "Duck Soup" is my favorite. It's so funny, but it shines a spotlight on how wasteful government can be and the futility of going to war just because you can.
@@feralbluee since it was filmed silently, I expect the director was simply telling them exactly when to move, etc. They were total pros and I doubt they would have had a problem breaking up.
Stephen Lindloff I love the Marx bros and I understand what you mean.I have friends who watch this and they don't even budge,no laughing,no smiling, nothing.I don't get it.I find them hilarious, especially Groucho and Harpo.I find in today's world anything with lots of sex mixed into it is classified as "funny" I rather sharp wit and jokes/comebacks that are ingeniously clever, like the Marx bros!
The other Marx Brother is misidentified by you as Chico, It was actually Harpo and Chico stumbles into the scene at THE END (according to every bit of information about this that exists or has ever existed).
they must’ve rehearsed this over and over - a lot of counting, too :) just choreographing the whole thing must have hilarious - try this. / how about this? / Hey, how long do you want to be? / as long as it takes! LOL
wow., last time I dae a good mirror skit was the old tom&jerry. cartoons from the 40's, if its done right it'll killya, and for the record, I think the family guy series stinks
