Her voice touches my soul. I knew it was her the minute she started singing. I can’t tell you how many hours I listened to ‘Spirit’ when I was younger.
La Vie en Rose had me in tears. I hadn’t heard that song in years because I had lost some of my interest in the foreign language that I was and somehow still am obsessed with and it really just brought tears to my eyes hearing it again
I’m 17 minutes in reading the comments saying it’s jewels. I had no idea who it was until I realized she’s a 90’s legend! I grew up listening to her. I had no idea she’s capable of all those different ranges. She’s such a pure soul. Glad she won! She deserves it!
SHE DESERVED TO WIN.. She has the purest soul and understands what it's like to come from nothing, so she respects and appreciates everything that has come to her... She doesn't act any different from her fame and has stay pure, HER COSTUME IDEA SUITED HER IN EVERY WAY... CONGRATULATIONS Jewel you deserved it... I have listened to your Music since you stared singing, I owned all your albums and single albums... You were my childhood xoxoxo🥰🥰
Any teenager from the 90’s should have immediately known who this was. I can’t count how many times I fell asleep crying to Foolish Games over a break up. Jewel has an enchanting voice, it’s also heartbreaking and beautiful.
It was specifically the resemblance to her delivery of that song and how she did What's Going On (not songs I'd normal say resemble each other) that moved my dull brain to realize who she was. I hadn't seen the show this year, so this video was the journey for me.
I have loved Jewel since Pieces of You and spent many many hours listening to her reading her lyrics and learning about her. With the advances in technology i spent many hours for her performances especially the acoustic ones. Yes Jewel understands a broken heart and her lyrics dont just speak to the break but also to hope and healing. For me, Jewel resonates with me in a spiritual sense that goes way beyond just hearing a good song, its an inspiration and encouragement to lead my own "life uncommon".
I knew it was Jewel before I watched this video. I have always loved her growing up. Watching this performance was incredible, she absolutely took my breath away! I cannot wait for her album Queen of Hearts to come out.
I absolutely love her and her voice is astounding. I would have been happy to see Todrick win though. He put so much effort into choreography which can not be easy to do in that costume. His performances were more than just singing. It probably would have meant so much to him since he isn't a huge recording artist. You really can't match jewels voice though.
I’ve been in love with her voice since I was a teenager.. I don’t watch this show but I heard she won soI had to come watch this clip .. I’m so happy she was able to show off her talent ❤️
Song after song it just got better and better. The moments in between were a nice insight to her personality...overall Jewel is a pure soul that needs to be protected. Talent beauty & a good heart, what a woman /goddess
Yes, you were in the presents of greatness. She has come a long way. I just can't believe how she can mimic others voices. Very strong and powerful voice. Hair raising on the arms, goosebumps performance. WOW!!!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
To date no one has ever been as good as the mighty Jewel on the Masked Singer. There was no doubt the first performance and the first syllables I knew it was Jewel. That's when you know you're at the Pinnacle of your trait when you're only one of a kind and no one else sounds like you so you can easily pick out someone that good and unique in this game
It’s Patsy Cline. OMG. The woman was a stellar singer. She was country but she brought her songs mainstream. She was hitting the pop charts. She would sing tearjerkers but had this perfection of a breaking in her voice. The story goes on ‘she’s got you, (song was shortened here) She heard the song, sang it. , told her manager the song makes her cry. Well that’s how she sang it. Timeless to this day. I fall to pieces, crazy, sweet dreams , I go walking after midnight. All stellar performances. We lost this lovely voice to a plane crash at the young age of 30. To this day she is hard to copy. Only the top singers can try.
A talent such as this is simply a gift. 1 that I personally am damn thankful for! Thx Jewel, nice to see such a blessing shared. With the likes of us ;- ]
Oh my goodness, girlfren. I wouldn't have been able to tell (I don't think) if I hadn't read the spoilers, but THIS. IS. A. SINGER. Her Patsy Cline alone should have won her an armful of awards. She blew away a song or two so much better than the original artist ... and I won't say who, but y'all know. So much love to you. ❤
I miss Holding An Album CD!!! And feeling I had gold!!! Back in the days were so much fun Ana amazing!!! I swear I wouldn’t miss the technology one bit!!! Just take me back !!!!!! Life now is so predictable and so Sad and so Worrisome!!! The 90s and 2000’s were amazing man !!!!!! Who’s with me!!!!
Jewel is one of the most underrated singers. Thank you Jewel for covering Patsy Cline. To get that special crying in the voice like patsy. So stunning. Funny she covered Sia because some had thought she was Sia. Also glad more younger generations will know Her better. She’s was a 90s superstar. Not pop, folk music.the 2nd to last song was more like her Songs. Had to know who she was. Katy perry , she sang it better. Lol.
It must have been so hard for her to hide all those vocal habits we know Jewel so well by, the baby voice, the yodel, and the soft whisper. She seemed to be fighting it because otherwise people would know her right away. So good to see her and know that her voice is better than ever after all these years. She looks incredible, too.
All the songs were amazing up to Patsy Cline. Then it just went in a completely other direction of amazing. Not a fan of Patsy, nothing personal, just was a generation before my time. That said, Jewel sang this with an unbelievable rendition. Then the next song was, again, another level. Marvin Gaye's song is yet another reason why she's amazing is that I'm not really a fan of people taking songs and totally redoing them. But it doesn't matter with her, not just that, but she makes you forget the original and while at the same time being in amazement of her. Her range of music is beyond words.
I don't own a television and have never watched this show. I do watch videos on RU-vid though, and saw Jewel on Kelley Clarkson Show where they talked about her performance on this show and winning. So I'm just now seeing all of Jewel's performances. I have to say, I wouldn't have known either who it was UNTIL she sang the Sia song. There I would have definitely said, "That's Jewel!!" I wonder how many viewers could have guessed it also, and if the judges also knew but played along pretending they didn't. The following Marvin Gaye performance also sounded a lot like her and I think that if many viewers and maybe the judges didn't know by before then they should have figured it out by then.... So what happens when the judges figure it out? Does the singer get booted off the show? Maybe they pretended not to know since it was obvious that whoever this performer was (Jewel) was transcending the show and reaching people's hearts as The Queen of Hearts, and singing her ass of on top of it. Her speaking at the end was a bit of an anticlimax. I wanted her to be excited. I think she was, but as is her custom, she was self deprecating. Regardless, she brought so much joy and talent to the show. Like I said, first time seeing any of it. Now I'm curious to see if any of the other personages were as good as her!
I knew it was Jewel as soon as she sang "supastarsh". I have been listening to Jewel since "Pieces of You" came out. She played at a coffee house called Brazil here in Royal Oak (Metro Detroit) in the early 90's. My cousin served there and said she was "a demanding bi*tch". He was like 21 and has since changed his mind about her. She's fricking amazing. As everyone can tell by her performances on the show. She is an inspiration, truly. Her performance of "RIver", I bet, threw everyone off and probably secured her win. That was like...to me...the best cover of the song.
I'm ashamed it took me until What's Going On to realize who it was. To be fair, it was the song that sounded exactly like her enunciations and delivery (even though the overall voice itself should have been recognizable long before that). The way she pronounces certain words, certain sounds, comes out in that song a lot. That sound that's along the road to a yodel, but not really one. The certain resonance she has on low parts. Etc. Okay, and I'll admit it. She talk-sings in the middle too, completely in her real voice. The homeless part of the story should have been a tipoff too. I feel like an idiot. Then again, I didn't see the show this year so didn't have weeks between performances to think about it. Even still...
I was thinking it was her all along but wasn't positive until Bird Set Free. I AM SO HAPPY she won it. Not sure why, but when I hear her sing, see her on Alaska the Last Frontier and hear her stories, I cry every time and not sure why. Maybe because she has such a huge heart. I'm also happy they didn't hit the button in the beginning and make her take her mask off. 👑❤
I am shook!! I was convinced it was Christina Aguilera!! I always loved Jewel but I didn't think she had that in her!! It all makes sense though. Of course she would've had a lot of hardship coming from rural Alaska with nothing but her talent. She is AMAZING!! I have so much respect for her!
