Mama Odie is familiar to people because she takes after Suga Mama from the Proud Family and The Mouse probably decided to secretly introduce Mama Odie as Suga Mama's ancestor as well
I just came here to say this! I remember the first time I watched princess and the frog, she immediately reminded me of Suga mama and "mama" is in both names.
i think if she's part jin/genie, that might've also slowed down her aging and extended her life, so thus she could very well be the Daughter of Genie himself (btw, does he actually have a real name? Genie is like calling a person "Human", as a _name_ ^^;)

At the very back of my head, I kind of knew Mama Odie was Genie’s daughter. She’s 197, so she must be Genie’s daughter. Genie is roughly around the age of 100,000,000. Making him the oldest Disney character. Genie has a girlfriend named Eden. Ok, before he was dating Eden, he dated someone who moved to New Orleans. Not knowing she was pregnant with Mama Odie’s grandpa. He got married in what was New Orleans to a nice girl who had Mama Odie’s dad. He married a different woman who’s Mama Odie’s mom and then Mama Odie was born.

I think I've figured something else out about Mama Odie. When she's first introduced after she banished the shadows from attacking Tiana and Naveen, she says this, "Not bad for a 197-year-old blind lady!" Now, since this movie takes place in 1920 at the earliest, that would mean that Mama Odie was born in 1723. You know what else she would have been around for? Beauty and the Beast. Do you think SHE could have been the one that put Beast under the spell?
Honestly, that tambourine reminds me of Esmerelda, the bottle cap reminds me of UP, the sea shell reminds me of the little mermaid, the under water helmet reminds me of finding nemo, the bath tub reminds me of what the boogie boys use to gather sandy claws, when they first got there the tree looks a lot like grandmother willow, and the snake reminds me of Kaa from the jungle book. I feel like there's something with that wicker chair as well. Perhaps she's also a relative of Mowgli and that's why she has such a free, unique spirit and that would make sense why Suga Mama from the Proud family (who I think is related to Mama Odie as well) is so shocking because she was raised by a family like Mama Odie. I haven't seen the proud family in years but I do remember she was a black belt in karate and she could get up and move and she also was very outspoken. She was not afraid to speak her mind. And all that would make sense to a family raised by wolves and they all have animals around them. It also makes sense why Mama Odie can speak and understand the princess when she's a frog because Mowgli understood animals and could communicate with them.
Wouldn't this theory conflict with the theory that Aladdin takes place far into the future though? There's a lot to suggest that it takes place in the far future.

I thought that was pretty clear: Mirabel hated Isa because she was "the perfect golden child, could do no wrong." While she herself was always trying to be helpful, but being seen as in the way by Abuela. Isa hated Mirabel because everyone ignored her. She had no expectations heaped on her. In other words, they hated each other because they wished to be in each other's place.
It's no brainer that Mirabel was jealous of her that she is the favorite and nothing wrong in her life nothing happened and being perfect isn't as easy as people think it's a lot of work

It was stated before that her room is soundproofed to eliminate most of the noises from the outside world. Dolores can hear a bit outside her door but it is muffled and not as distracting or overwhelming for her. So she could still hear Bruno from inside her room and know when someone was calling for her while not becoming so stressed out from it becoming too noisy for her to handle.
