Stop scrolling if you play Tears of the Kingdom, because the Master Sword is BROKEN.
And I don’t mean that in a good way, I mean it in a “it literally doesn’t function properly” way. Have you ever noticed that the first time you used your Master Sword, it lasted much longer? That’s because of how the fusion durability system works. The Master Sword has a durability of 40, and gains +25 when something is fused onto it. That’s a pretty hefty bonus, but you can’t keep fusing items onto a weapon to repair the weapon. It only works once!
So here’s the problem: when the Master Sword runs out of energy, it goes into its dormant “recharging” state until it reaches 40. It then becomes usable again. So you would think, oh, just fuse something onto the weapon and it’ll go back to 65 again, right? Hahahaha no, of course it wouldn’t be that simple. Because they don’t reset the weapon properly to let you gain the +25 from fusing again. That +25 is forever lost, and cannot be regained. Don’t believe me? Break your Master Sword right now, and wait for it to recharge. Once you get it back, you’ll see the Master Sword didn’t get its full durability sparkle back.

@@gyro2846problem is: you can put enough large charges that there are some still coming out of the machine, and you have to pick some up first for those to come out, and then the door closes. Because if the cutscene stayed until it closed you would get softlocked, and because you have to be able to control the player for a moment, you can still just shove something in the door.

Heck, not even just "some". The only weapons more frail than the bugged Master Sword are those that aren't meant to be weapons (tree branches, torches, bone arms, etc), those that are specifically noted to be frail (royal guard weapons, gerudo weapons, rusty weapons), and gloom weapons (the kind from Phantom Ganon)

There is a theory that the ritual that Zelda had to do on Link and he Master Sword didn’t work because she didn’t have her magic yet, so the Master Sword hasn’t reached it’s full potential yet. Zelda simply forgot to re-do the ritual on Link, maybe the Master Sword would be enough to defeat Ganondorf

Eh. The Master Sword isn't even the strongest weapon in some other games, beaten out by things like the Biggoron's sword. Its true power is its whole darkness-sealing deal, not its raw power. Plus, in a game where all other weapons break in no more than 100 hits, the Master Sword only needing to recharge is pretty remarkable.

@@mendlez2306 there was a glitch that allowed both duplication of items too but the totk community had weird names for these glitches, zuggle or something. You basically went to a certain spot in a shrine, stand on a rock and facing a wall, and then try to shield surf after dropping a weapon so when you pause and unpause, the weapon goes back into your inventory but doesn’t actually get dropped then start new game and go to a certain spot before you meet ganon, and then the weapon should be there

@@EonAegis I've been against them patching them from the beginning. I get that some people may enjoy killing the same creatures over and over again and hoping for the right drops or waiting 10 minutes to farm another item and having to do that dozens of times, but not everyone. I've got other things to do. I play to enjoy the game, not mindless doing the same tasks over and over until completion

@@EonAegis I've spent over 200 hours already on the game and I've duplicated most of my items, finished all shrines, and have many Korok that I still need to find. Once I accidentally updated so I couldn't duplicate as easily, I quit. The fact that I still have much to explore and do and I was duplicating items should be enough to say that the game holds up without the needles farming. Pity that the biggest drawback is the monotony of farming they're enforcing

@@maxraccoon3529it is pretty nuts to me how much they expect us to do repetitive shit like for example i see so much fun stuff being done with creations and its like here I am, prolly 40 odd hours on the game and only just now have 4 batteries, sure im halfway to full and COULD just hard focus on farming the crystals basically but I just wish like the batteries and other such upgrades were tied to sidequests or amount of shrines completed or in their own type of chests in the depths or sky islands or something, preferably the sky because some of those islands lack for puzzles and something meaningful on them tbh

What i usually do is equip the master sword, use it until it runs out of energy, and then equip a different weapon, usually stronger. Then i switch back to the MS once it's recharged

I use the ms for mining zonaite. Since its not great for fighting, i can use more weapons with better fuses and use the rechargable weapon to mine. If you attach a lynel hoof it oneshots ore veins instead of the normal 2 hits for one handed weapons.

This. I also attach a horn from Naydra to the MS so that it one or two shots most minor enemies (plus, ice is fun). That means less hits, which means less durability taken from the MS. Using the MS whenever possible allows me to use my other, stronger weapons less often, mostly while the MS is recharging or when facing a bigger enemy. The only annoying part is farming dragon horns (or duping them). I wish Nintendo would give us a more reliable way to farm dragon parts, like in BoTW.

Btw it also only does 45 damage when it glows in the depths where you would imagine there is way more malice/ gloom so the master sword is even worse than it used to be.

@joemoe1560 months late but here's what I think: The Master Sword isn't worst all around. If we exclude botw DLC, the only time the sword was good was during Guardians or Dungeon fights. Most guardians are only around hyrule castle and the sword is kinda broken when fighting the bosses. Other than that, the rest of the game it does its 30 damages. Totk fixes this by fusing and doing 45 damage in depths. This covers much more ground thereby making the Sword much more useful. People who believe it's worse than vanilla Botw need to think about how much more area Totk covers.

I used it to fight my first Lynel? Then I fused the Lynels horn to my master sword. Now I have better weapons. Same as when I played Zelda on the SNES and pulled the master sword, but had 2 better swords by the time I fought ganon. Same as in Ocarina of time when I then got the big goron sword, same as in Majora's Mask when I got the gilded and fairy swords... I mean, historically the master sword is not the strongest weapon in the Zelda games...

I didn’t even know this because nobody talks about it online as far as I’ve seen. I don’t check patchnotes (my game auto updates so I don’t even know when to check) so I get all my totk news from shorts and all I ever see is “boohoo no more glitches”

This is not 100% video related but i really wanted to say it I don't care if some people feel like they should fix the glitchs in totk Like if the glitch: 1,ruin a safe file 2, easily done by accident and has a negative effect 3,is genuinely playthrough ruining I can understand the patch But duping and master sword glitches are not any of these and they are fun if you pull them off Totk is one of few games where most glitches actually improve the experience +If you say "BuT iT wILl rUiN thE in GaMe ecOnoMY" Or "yOu cHeaT cuZ YoU baaAaD" First, It is a single player game that you bought with your money and i did with mine Do what you want Let me do what i want News-flash!: You don't have to use glitches if you don't want to! Second, i can clear multiple Golden lynals in botw And multiple silver ones in totk And i have discovered all of Hyrule on my own while mastering most of the combat so i believe I'm not "bad" Ok?

Hate it when that happens! My durability indicator was broken from the start and I never knew at what point my trusty rock on a stick would fail me. It only warned me 3 hits before the weapon would actually break and I had constant anxiety that my weapons were just one fight away from breaking. That made me pay several rocktorocks a visit every time I planned to fight something or explore a dangerous part of the map. I hope ninetendo will fix that.

Yeah nintendo needs to lay of patching glitches and focus on fixing actual issues. And I know people will comment "but those glitches are used by cheaters!" So damn what. It's a single player game. Let me repeat that It. Is. A. SINGLE. Player. Game. Their cheating on said SINGLE player game hurts no one! It's a different story if it was multi-player but it is not.

I have no idea why taking the easy way out is so popular. Putting in all the effort required makes the results much more satisfying. That's why I completely abandoned duping on my second playthrough. Not judging your playstyle though, I'm just confused as to why everyone is complaining when Nintendo addresses and fixes something that was absolutely unintentional.

The main theory I've heard is Nintendo and the programming team just copy/pasted the code for breaking and recharging directly from Breath of the Wild into Tears of the Kingdom, but since there wasn't anything for fusion before that part of code just does not exist. It would probably take less than one minute for them to fix it so the single most iconic weapon in the series and a focal point of the story works properly, but they would rather focus on things like stopping people from standing in a particular place on the edge of a depths loading zone and dropping an item while saving and loading to desync the menu to duplicate zonai gliders.

Man, we gave Nintendo 6 years minimum and this is the effort they put in… I know that might be a theory, but if it’s true, it would certainly explain why many of the issues of BOTW remain untouched.

Here's my solution. Have the master sword fully charge at 60 uncharged 25. When fused, it adds the item fused stats til it breaks. While broken, it can't be fused and will take a lot longer to be recharged if you still use it while uncharged.

I noticed the sparkle wouldn't come back a while ago, but thought it might have something to do with how it glows with sacred light against gloom enemies, which gives it more durability.

I just still feel like it should be unbreakable. Maybe instead of recharging completetly, it recharges its power up form or something? And like fused items just break off of it. But yeah i knew my master sword was breaking really easily. This is frustrating bc i dont gravitate toward using it ever when it should be the MAIN WEAPON of the game

The master sword in Totk was unbelievably underwhelming and fragile. I ended up never using it, only equipped it for story events and cut scenes I really think the master sword should have no recharge

@@exmaribusit doesn’t become unbreakable in phantom ganon fights the game just gives it a lot of durability if you fight a lot of phantom ganons in a row it will break eventually .

@@urlocalrat123 30 power, 40 durability. The font is available online for free as Open Hylia Serif, a recreation of the font as seen in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom :) Also, when fighting phantom or boss dorf, the power is doubled like in BotW

But, considering that BOTW had the DLC, they gave you trials, that if you accomplished it improved the master sword. I think it’s entirely possible for them to pull the same thing again for tears of the Kingdom. They could even have it triggered by the exact same thing as the previous game by putting the sword back in the pedestal next to the Deku tree.

@@cangel8563 why? There’s plenty of room for it. They could do something they could give some sort of lore about the depths. Introduce a couple more shrines so that you could fill out either the rest of your hearts or stamina. I mean in the flashbacks, there is a very subtle hint that the twin Rova sisters we’re right behind Gannondorf. So they could actually show up as a epilogue DLC, and link is trying desperately to hunt them down before they can somehow resurrect Gannondorf

@@Nazo-kage I know I'm late but they said they don't have plans because they feel they have done everything they can, It's not them saying there's not going to be a DLC but it's pretty unlikely for now, Though it's still possible for them to do a DLC. I think a master mode should still come, and I think in the future there might be a DLC, but we don't know for sure.

I guess my only issue is that I feel like there’s a few unanswered questions in the game. And they also had said that they were already pretty iffy about making a sequel in the same console, I’m just hoping that some of these breadcrumbs aren’t accidentally forgotten.
