J.D.'s record performance on Blessed Assurance is a gospel favorite. Blessed Assurance was also sung at a Billy Graham crusade in 1958 in San Francisco. In 1983 Billy Graham was honored by President Reagan with the Medal Of Freedom award. Standing next to Mr. Graham was Buckminster Fuller who received the award just before Mr. Graham. Fuller was also a Creationist who wrote an interpretation of Paul's Epistle to the Romans in his book Synergetics. Synergetics is a derivation of "sunergei" meaning "to work together" referred to in the oft quoted passage of Romans 8:28.
