It was the French Singer Johnny Hallyday in 1978 who first sang - J'ai oublie de vivre, a big hit in France, then Julio Iglesias took the song to Spanish. It became one of Julio's greatest hits worldwide, then Raphael and Manuel Carrasco, and others sang it, and now Raul Malo and the Mavericks, have an outstanding version! Love it.
love his songs in Spanish.. My wife is obsessed with this band!she wakes up to their music, even has asked the Dentist office to play their music..They now love the Mavericks!we have seen them live and its hands down the best concert ever!!

Music is most likely the only human means of communicating that allows anyone that listens to have their heart touched without understanding a word. Bravo boys, your work speaks volumes.
Spanish is one of my favorite languages, and The Mavericks are my favorite band. Raul Malo is one of the reasons for my love of the Spanish language and my appreciation of the Hispanic/Latino people. And Raul sure can sing any song to the best of his ability. He and The Mavericks are absolute legends!
Charlie Daniels once said "Nashville is Country but we're more than Nashville". The Mavericks are something similar, a Country band which goes beyond the boundaries of Country Music. Old time pop, rock, jazz, texmex, Spanish standards, from Hank Williams to Elvis Presley, from Dwight Yoakam to Julio Iglesias, their need to try new influences is unstoppable. I bought this CD the day it dropped and I still listen to it EVERY day. I have never had an album capture me like this. You guys are great and this album is a great accomplishment. I am thinking Grammy for sure!

The Mavericks have been a favourite band of mine since I discovered them by chance over 20 years ago. Raul Malo has such a beautiful soulful voice. The new "En Espanol" album is one of the best of their career in my opinion.
Their Quarantine songs were so beautiful and relaxing.Those songs helped me get through this crazy Covid crisis..Hope I can see these guys in concert soon..If only they'd come to ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO...LOVE THE MAVERICKS..!!💕💓

Why can you not dance anymore? I can't dance due to bad knees, too fat, arthritis in 80% of my skeleton. As long as your heart can dance, so too can you.

An amazing pean to life, it’s ironies and foibles. As told by the pure weathered soul of a Cuban boy, Raul Malo, in my opinion the closest a man’s ever come to perfect pitch since Roy Orbison, perhaps even more powerful. Malos singular style has been earth candy for twenty years. I saw a brilliant concert when Mavericks opened for Mary Chaplin Carpenter at Radio City Music Hall that still ranks as one of my best ever concert experiences. In every language, the Mavericks bring an irresistible sense of joy and passion to their music I’ve rarely heard so beautifully expressed. And here, Malo outdoes himself … the arrangement is perfectly suited to Malos pure majestic voice, his inflections and pauses contribute to the drama that unfolds in its lyrics, and together they combine to create a genius track for the ages. Beautifully done note to note.

reminds me of the Polish music when we went to chicken dinners at the club hall, I didn't understand them either but the music just drew you in to listen and yes there was dancing to. we would sing with the band didn't know the words my wife did completely.
