Great video on this true classic that is such an important car in Mercedes and AMG’s history. The AMG badge on the lower front bumper usually falls off because the badge is straight and the geometry of the bumper has some curvature.

Found a TERRIBLE example in my country for just $2 grand. 150,000kms, surprised on how terrible it is for "low miles". I'm genuinely considering picking it up if the engine and transmission are solid. Safe to say it would still be a great investment in a few years? Excellent video and blog article!
For that amount of money it's tough to beat, especially if the engine and transmission are solid. Aesthetics can always be restored over time. We doubt it would ever be worth less!

I picked up one for cheap that is in amazing cosmetic condition but needs engine work. I called 4 shops near me that specialize in german cars and 3 of them denied the existence of the car saying that nothing like it was manufactured! Would love to get it running (without blowing smoke everywhere) but with a start like that, it's gonna be a long road! Appreciate any tips.
It honestly comes down to condition. Mileage is a huge factor but condition is often times even more important. Low mileage examples are seeing mid-teens and approaching low 20's now from what we've seen. It's definitely safe to say that these are appreciating in value.
C36 is tight but the 43 is just better. Better engine, transmission, body kit, designo black/white interior, integrated instead of cheeseball 80's retracting antenna, thick steering wheel, white gauge cluster, and so on ...
disagree, Ive owned both... C43 is a lovely car, but ultimately has an ordinary MB V8 Shoehorned into it along with the less reliable electronic Gearbox. C36 far more bespoke with a hand built engine by AMG before being bought out by MB . So for me a little more unique and special. Each to their own I suppose :)
@@leicaman100 To each their own, certainly. I respect your opinion, given that you have owned both. You are correct about the transmission. Mine has been reliable, but there is an electronic programming issue with it that often gives hard shifts between first and second gear. That, and first gear is too tall, leading to poor off the line acceleration. Apparently the programming issue was addressed in the 2000 model, but only 25 or so were imported to the US.
Nope the C36 is Genesis... more balanced, and better made…I have owned my C36 for over 18 years, just gone past 277,000…That 5 speed on the V8 could easily fail at half that mileage…..C36 was one of the last proper Merc’s, and the C43….
I have a very similar black on black 1997 C36. Mine does not have the emblem on the front air dam. Would you be interested in selling one of your extras?

The MB Market , maybe I’m looking at the wrong page. Becker Autosound on the web looks to be a repair shop in New Jersey. Does Becker still make new radios? Not really looking for a repaired unit from 1997.
Jeremy, if you're driving a 95 or 96 they should have the one piece badge....the 97 should have the multi-piece. check out ebay for the 97 models. Contact us for the one piece and we may be able to help!
