I think this goes deeper. I feel like this song is of heartbreak. About reminiscing with our younger selves and heartaches that certain places and people hold for all us.
He was sad. Trying to remember the reason or person that caused those tears at night is because feelings and emotions get muddied when we are alone in the DARK. Maybe somebody named Caroline broke his heart.
Or... Or maybe it's not and it's just simply what dude said in the video . Lol it's great to draw your own meanings from songs , and / or whatever you feel from it but cmon dude.
I mean you can think what you want but the song is definitely about himself and how he’s seen one part of himself a version of himself that’s gone through it’s chapter and when he’s back in Chicago he remembers that part of himself again. You can take the man out of the city, But you can’t take the city out of the man. The song literally explains itself.
Beautifully said, I think you really hit home with at least the feeling that he wanted to invoke in people, nostalgic, because that’s exactly how I felt while listening to the song.
Broooo I think I found a channel that I didn't know I need it. Analyzing lyrics (and poems, books, or such things) which I love listening (or reading) to it very much. Thank you !! You gained a sub. Don't give up!!
Nice breakdown- also another double meaning for "Enter Troubadour" is that The Troubadour is a venue in Los Angeles, where he's played and has to gone to shows.
thats what thought, i also got s feel there was a relationship that might of went sour during the early days in Chicago while he was trying to figure things out
I listened to this song the day it came out because I loved his other album so much, I was so surprised it didn’t blow up, yet eventually it did, just took some time.
I think a second meaning is of a love that was in a specific time/place that we left behind because it hurt too much to stay. And when returning to that place, we are there as if we never left, emotionally. In the night, we can fantasize about not having lost someone, in the day when they arent there, its black and white. Troubadour could also be meaning to losing love as well. I think you are 100% correct, but I think it has a double meaning. For me, I hope to be successful, and if I visited my "place" thereafter, Id think of him. And I would give back my beginning to have him with me again. Because it was also the beginning of the end, as much as it was the end of the beginning. And that hurts.
