It seems to be something of a memorial. You can recieve the spirit of “God” without baptism. Its was a ritual cleansing that the priests did. You have to have a pure heart because if your heart is not clean and your flesh cannot be clean.
@Rejoran
@Rejoran 3 года назад
The only memorial that's spoken of and expected or expressed was the Lord's supper. Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” No one in scripture was instructed to do an after being saved memorial, and no such event was recorded. They went straight from being saved to living the life, loving one another, and spreading the gospel. Since there was no such memorial expected, baptism could not have played this role.

Baptism cannot wash away our sin! Our sin is wash only by the blood of Lord Jesus Christ at moment of when we put our faith in Christ Jesus and accepting Him as our personal lord and saviour. Baptism is an identification of our inner change of outward being. Identifying by the Death of Christ for our sin and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our hope of eternal life through Baptising.

@@amgmedia808, Jesus is the only person in all recorded history to have been baptized to fulfill all righteousness. Whereas we (as of the Great Commission Mark 16:16 & Pentecost Acts 2:38-39) were given baptism for salvation/forgiveness of sins. Reading the scriptures about each baptism would eliminate the need to ask about Jesus's baptism and sin.
@Rejoran
@Rejoran Год назад
@Phlongos Tv, Accepting Jesus as Lord is found in Colossians 2:6. Accepting Jesus as personal saviour is found only in church lingo. It was never written as a Biblical "method" of being saved. You can't legitimately use "church lingo" as evidence. "Baptism is an identification of our inward change of outward being." is as Biblical a teaching as the little drummer boy. No one in scripture was ever "told" to be baptized for such a reason. Acts 17:10-11 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. [11] These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. The Bereans verified if what Paul said was so, with the scriptures. If it wasn't in the scriptures, then it wasn't so. Being baptized for this "church teaching" based only on what they say and not in scripture makes being baptized as an identification of our inward change of outward being not so. It has been not so since whichever historical figure demoted baptism in Jesus's name from the Biblically stated purpose(s) to a human derived teaching of just an identification. That identification teaching deserves a front page Headline "Popular Teaching Confirmed as False and Non-Biblical!!!"

Baptism - 10 Facts 1. Baptism is the first ordiance of the gospel. 2. To be baptized, one makes a covenant to follow Jesus Christ. 3. A covenant is a two-way promise: We covenant to follow God and keep is commandments. He promises that His spirit (The Holy Ghost) may be with us. 4. Baptism enables you to return and live with God after this life. 5. Although perfect, Jesus was baptized to be an example and demonstrate that he would keep God (our Heavenly Father's) commandments. 6. Baptism must be performed by immursion. 7. Baptism should be performed when one is old enough to be accountable to make a covenant with God. Babies and little children are not old enough. 8. Baptism by immursion is symbolic of the death and resurrection of the Savior. Being buried in the water is symbolic of death. Coming out of the water is symbolic of being resurrected or "living again." 9. Baptism is the first step on the road to discipleship. It is only the start. There are more ordinances one must receive--along with their associted covenants. 10. Baptism must be performed by someone who has God's authority to be valid after this life though. A pastor doesn't get that authority by merely by studying the Bible. The true, RESTORED church of Jesus Christ is on the earth today. It is HIS church. It has HIS authority to do baptisms. It has HIS authority to do baptisms because HE restored it. HIS church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I hope everyone will have the desire to continue on their path to follow the Savior by becoming a member of HIS restored church.

The only thing that washes away our sins is the Blood of Christ Jesus and not any water
@Rejoran
@Rejoran 3 года назад
Mr. Isaac Akuffo, in the Bible, the blood of Christ and baptism in water in Jesus's name for forgiveness of sins, were not in conflict. How can you speak as though God/Christ's part conflicts with our part? God doesn't force us to be saved. God has done His part (the blood, the cross). We still have to respond, as indicated in Mark 16:16 belief and baptism.

@@Rejoran Hi beloved... Baptism is just a physical manifestation of an inward work of grace in the life of a believer. Baptism is to let the public to know that the believer has now confirmed his/her faith in Christ, he has now decided to follow Christ. So before one will be baptized, the person had already believed in Christ and has received the forgiveness of his sins through the blood of Christ Jesus. Pls buddy, my simple question to you is " When a person dies 5 minutes after he/she became born again without being baptized, will he/she go to heaven or not? "The guy on the cross' sins were forgiven not because he has been baptized but because he expressed his faith in Christ and this text 2Cor 5:17 became real in his life. Baptism is good but it doesn't cleanse us from our sins 1 John 1:7 Thank u buddy
@Rejoran
@Rejoran 3 года назад
@@isaacakuffo7664, thank you for your kind response. Were the Bible writers aware of a purpose of baptism in Jesus's name to let the public know the believer has confirmed his/her faith in Christ? I've never read them say "be baptized in order to make others aware your faith in Christ and what He has done for you." Have you ever read this written in scripture? The only people that I've ever heard say this are commentators. Note that in Romans 6, Paul never says symbolize, represents, illustrates, or a sign about baptism, even though he said that in Romans 4:11 about something else. The only people who do say these things are the commentators over what Paul said. There's no discussion or mention of baptism's purpose being a public declaration anywhere in the New Testament. But even before that. Have you noticed that no one in scripture was commanded to have an "event" where they publically let everyone know about their faith in Christ. No one in scripture was instructed to do something to publically symbolize the death of Christ. No one in scripture was recorded as having had such an event for the eyes of others. Romans 6 doesn't mention public or "others" in the text. How could baptism be plugged into a role for something that wasn't expected? Once a person was saved, they went on to immediately live the life, love one another, and preach the gospel. Acts 9:18-21 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. [19] And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. [20] And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. [21] But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests? The people found out about Saul's conversion through his preaching, not his baptism, because that wasn't baptism in Jesus's name's purpose. How could the thief on the cross have been expected to fulfill a command to be baptized in Jesus's name, when the command was not given until long after the thief was dead? Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38-39. Likewise, Abraham was not expected to observe the passover because that came after him. Jesus had the authority on Earth to forgive sins Luke 5:24 even while under the old Covenant Hebrews 9:15-18. According to Mark 16:16 it's not just belief, its belief and baptism. Jesus said Mark 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved;..." not "He who has believed and has been saved shall be baptized;..." He said believed, baptized, and saved, in that order. Even though He didn't repeat baptism in part B, why did Jesus mention baptism in the middle of a getting saved discussion if it's not a part of being saved? What's it doing there? 1 John 1:7 was written to those already saved, as identified in 1 John 3:1. 1 John 1:7 was not telling those already saved how to be saved. "When a person dies 5 minutes after he/she became born again without being baptized will he/she go to heaven or not?" is a presumptive question since we're discussing whether or not baptism in Jesus's name is part of being born again. I would say (from scripture) if a person is born again (being baptized in Jesus's name having been a part of that) then dies 5 minutes later they would go to heaven on judgement day. Again, in no way does being baptized in Jesus's name for the forgiveness of sins Acts 2:38-39 conflict with Jesus's blood. The two never conflicted in the Bible. There is a conflict however between the "by grace alone, through faith alone" narrative and scriptural text. Not the least of which is conjuring a non-existent after being saved public testimony event. Only when we start off with a truthful foundation, with what the Bible authors actually wrote down, can we truly follow their message. I do not say these in an antagonistic way, but in hopes that you will be able to see scriptural texts apart from that narrative. I offer only friendly conversation.

Yahusha and the disciples did not baptize the way we have been told and taught to do it in the last few hundred centuries or more. True baptism has been lost and watered down throughout the millenniums, and is that so hard to believe after over two thousand years have passed? This is why ever year thousands upon thousands of people get baptized every year and there is no change in their life at all. If you notice, there is very little to no change in the way they feel inside after these baptisms, and the little deference they do feel quickly fads within days and in some cases hours. But if you learned the true original way they were baptizing and you go through the true baptism, not only would your life change right before your eyes and before the eyes of all who know you, but also your inside will be changed to the point that all who know you would literally be able to see it, and I mean literally! For your body will actually be transfigured and your body will glow in its newly regenerated temple that we call bodies! This is not fiction, but when you learn the truth, you will find that the truth is not really stranger than fiction as they say, but it is the fiction that is strange, and the truth is liberating and will set you free from suffering

. Baptism was instituted because the children of Israel, despite the fact that they went through the Red sea, and then threatened God that they would return to Egypt, and made good their threats in Numbers 14:4 and Jeremiah 42:1, 43:4,7, and Johanan was in charge. So, God brought back Elijah - who was supposed to bring them back to God - but dropped the ball and now had to complete it through John the Baptist. He came baptizing to bring Israel back from Egypt- so to speak (Jesus as the Son, had to be taken back to Egypt and was brought back to the promised land). Thus by deciding to get baptized, they're showing to God that they repented of their decision, and now accept the One they sent to be their Messiah and King, as the Son of Man (David), and the Son of God, who will then fulfill God's will to Israel Exodus 19:6; 1 Peter 2:9(written only to the Jews). Acts 10, and 19:6; 11: 6, God sent His Holy Spirit directly to Cornelius and his family, despite the fact that they hadn't been baptized, but, He didn't tell Peter to go baptize them, (as He wasn't instructed to go replace the 12th desciple, which he did through divination). Philip baptized the Ethiopian Eunuch Acts 8:26-38, because they're considered to be part of Israel, (and God was rewarding the good deed of Ebed-Meleck in keeping Jeremiah alive- Jeremiah 38:6-13; 39:15-18; Isaiah 56:3, just like He rewarded Phinehas Numbers 25). Jesus came to baptize with the Holy Spirit. The fire baptism would be for those who do not receive His free gift of salvation, through the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom- for Israel, and the gospel of grace- for both Jews and Gentiles, who believe in God, and are saved by grace through faith in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (By going back to Egypt, Israel nullified the whole purpose of passover, and crossing the Red sea and Jordan, thus they were given the law whereby every sin must be personally atoned for through the institution of the Priesthood, who brought the blood of the sacrificial animals before God. This became moot, as they did as they pleased, bringing sick polluted sacrifices. God stopped honoring them until Jesus came, went back to Egypt, came out, and fulfilled God's word, " out of Egypt have I called my Son." So, whosoever believes in Him is baptized into Him, by tge Holy Spirit, and took on the adoption of sons John 1:12-14, ushering in "the acceptable year of the Lord " or the preparation of the body of Christ- the Church, made up of both Jews and Gentiles. Romans 3; Ephesians chapters 1-4. So, all believers need to do is simply abide in Him by grace, through faith in His sacrificial death, burial and resurrection from the dead, until the redemption of His purchased possession!

Acts 22:16 "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ washes away sins, it is for the remission of sins(Acts 2:38), it is the washing of regeneration (Titus 3:5), it saves us (1 Peter 3:21) it is how we come under the blood of Jesus Christ (1John 5:8), it is also the circumcision made without hands (Colossians 2:6-12). Baptism is not an outward showing of inward change, it is not a symbol of faith, and it is not a profession of faith none of those three terms are in the Bible which is the KJV for those terms are theological terms and not the oracles of God. 1 Peter 4:11 "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear.

Did John wash Jesus Sin?
@sokhodanhsang7316
@sokhodanhsang7316 Год назад
Hello , it's a matter of doctrine. And the only pattern is JESUS CHRIST's pattern.As He died by crucifixion on the cross , each of us must accept in spirit to be crucified with Him as Paul claimed in Galatians 2:20 .We accepted to die ( the old man ) with Christ and to get rid of the old man by being buried by Baptism in water ( Ephesians 4:20-24 / Colossians 3: 3, 9-11 ) . And at the same time , the Blood of JESUS washed away all the sins from our body, soul conscience . Another fact is that we enter in the Everlasting New Covenant with the Lord God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob . These many points are to be instructed to every one in preaching the Gospel , to be accepted and to be confessed before the act of baptisme itself .Unfortunately , they are not taught .And most of the time , there is a focus only on the washing of sin and salvation . So there is a great lack in the teaching of the Scriptures . I must also point out to the fact that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is not prior to JESUS CHRIST 's Ministry , as JESUS CHRIST said in Gospel of John 16: 13-14

@@bigtobacco1098 There are other described baptisms in thé Holy Scriptures , such as John Baptiste' s or Holy Spirit' s one .But the most important one is in the Name of the Father , of the Son and of the Holy Ghost , in the Name of Jésus-Christ, as Jésus-Christ IS the pattern. This baptism IS Linked to the death and the burying of the old man and old nature , Always in Jésus-Christ, and symbolize the délivrance from the slavery of Satan and sin , from the law , and when getting out , introduced to the New creation in Christ and the Everlasting New Covenant that included Jésus-Christ 's Ministry and Holy Spirit' s one .

Baptism doesn't wash away your sins. I think I know what you're trying to say though. It's a profession of something that's already happened. Baptism can only follow salvation. It can't come first. It's a declaration of what has already happened.

@christsavesreadromans1096 No, read Acts 10:44-48. Look at the order of what happened.. 1. Peter preached, while he was speaking....... 2. Holy Spirit came upon all who heard the message. 3. The people spoke in tongues 4. Peter commanded them to be baptized. The baptism is a public profession that FOLLOWS a person being forgiven of their sins. The Holy Spirit is not given to the unforgiven. Nor is the gift of tongues. Baptism isn't required to be saved. Otherwise the thief on the cross wouldn't have been saved. Furthermore, Ephesians 2:8,9 says we are saved by grace through faith and NOT of anything we do, not of works....... Acts 2:38 is commonly misunderstood. It was Peter stressing to the Jews the importance of making a public profession of faith. But the rest of the Bible is clear that only Jesus' death and resurrection is what forgives our sins. Anything we do on our own is like filthy rags compared to the cross. Isaiah 64:6.

Okay so when children are baptized at 1 to 8 years of age, it symbolizes that they are washing away of their sins from their previous life? Because they’ve recently just been born. .Other have told me that it symbolizes a new life and that you’re making a covenant with god that you will keep his commandments: 1. No CATS 2. Chasity & washes away your sins. I’m more than comfortable with my sins, I thought that baptism is getting an armor of water. Why does everyone else that got baptized as a child, don’t have to make promises or covenants to god? But they tell that to new people who convert? Like does it varies from person to person? If it does, would I be disrespectful if you deny, if you don’t agree on what it symbolizes? Because the new born child, get baptized and it has the rest of it’s life to be committing sins (enjoy life). And a new comer like me, would have to live by the “commandments” in order to receive “blessing”. And that’s where I hesitate because part of me feel like I’m making a deal with the god. That’s not what i think religious worship should be about, making bets or gambling.

People often see baptism as having a literal effect, but in reality dunking your head under the water while a preacher blesses you does nothing. It is a symbol of rebirth that Jesus wants christians to follow. It is a physical representation of your choice to die to your self and come to Jesus. As I have found myself coming closer to Jesus I have also found myself desiring to be baptised. I no longer like my previous self, because it is rebellious, unkind, and impatient. I want only the legacy God wanted for all of us and that Jesus was able to live as. When you come to be baptised you show for all the world to see a person entering the water, and emerging a new person, fully forgiven and newly transformed. Stop seeing baptism as the thing that forgives the sins and look at it the way Jesus said I should be seen; as a testament to your love of Jesus and the desire to be made new and clean so you may live a new life.

Jesus said to the man on the cross next to him "today you will be with me in paradise". (Luke Chapter 23 Verse 43). Had this man been water baptized??? Water baptism happens because someone has been saved. Water baptism doesn't save. The recent coronation happened because Charles is now the King. The coronation didn't make Charles the King. Charles became the King when his mother - Queen Elizabeth the Second - died. A coronation for William or George would be nonsense as neither of them are King.

The Passover/ Communion: Leviticus 16; Deuteronomy 16; 1 Corinthians 11:23-30; Matthew 26:26-29. Since it became certain that Jesus Christ had to be killed and atone for the sins of the Israel on the one hand (because of God's statutes), and the whole world, on the other, ( because God had no dealings whatsoever with them, thither-to, Israel to commemorate their deliverance from Egypt- Jesus Christ, from the world, and that there should be a way for the whole world- both Jews and Gentiles, to enter freely into the presence of God the Father, by the veil of the temple which later split into two, for especially those who do not have any rights of access to His presence- from priests to the stranger among His people. Leviticus 16:2. Now that He became the Priest as well as the sacrificial Lamb, He had to complete the process as written: He was supposed to put on the whole armor of God: 16:4- linen coat - of righteousness; breeches- truth; girdle- righteousness; and linen mitre on His head- helmet of salvation, replaced with the crown of thorns.Ephesians 6. 16:5-11; the two kids of the goats- the two thieves on the cross with Him, one on the right hand, and the other on the left, one on the left became the scapegoat, and the other for the Lord vs 6-11. Jesus Christ died and was buried. 16:18-22. The veil of the temple was torn into two, thereby making way for priests - both Jews and Gentiles, to boldly come into the presence of the Lord and will not die. Exodus 19:6; Isaiah 61:6; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6, thus fulfilling God's all time purpose. They're the Believers in Christ. The Passover was to be observed for 7 days, but was cut in half, until the next time He drinks the Passover wine in the Kingdom of His Father. Matthew 26:29. He rose again from the dead after three days and three nights. He was killed outside the camp- Deuteronomy 16:5-6; Matthew 27:45-50. He left His grave clothes behind 16:23. The water and blood that flowed from His side availed for Him, to see the Father. He then returned to appear unto His desciples John 20:19. He was seen of Mary, before His ascension, but she couldn't touch him because He hadn't ascended to be sanctified by the Father- as would a priest, anyone that had been dead, and had to sprinkle the blood of atonement for all the sins he had carried on Himself, for which wages He had just paid. Numbers 19:11; Haggai 2:11-14; Leviticus 16:16-19 (17, no man should be around Him). He left taking of Communion as a statute for all Believers in Him, which keeps them in His fold, as the blood of sprinkling always avails for them every time they venture through the veil- opened by His sacrificial death, burial and resurrection from the dead 1 Corinthians 15:51-58, which keeps them under the atoning power of His blood, and immune from the devil, who had the power of death and hell, but now lost it to Jesus Revelation 1:18. Each time the Believer commemorates this, though they die daily, 1 Corinthians 15:31, but also live daily until He returns as promised, to redeem His purchased possession! This reminds them that no matter what they see of go through, Jesus Christ already atoned for their sins, and He is always with them, even to the conclusion of the system of this world. 1 Corinthians 1123-30; Matthew 28:20. In conclusion, all who must partake must partake worthily- this means they can not participate with self- recriminations or condemnations whatsoever. They must partake of it with joy and blessed hope of the promised glory. This is not giving license to anyone involved in any type of sin, from which they're not ready to leave behind, because they will not only get sick and die, but they're in danger of losing their salvation and becoming eternally damned. We all get to decide. He is coming soon!

@Phlongo's Tv, You speak of Jesus Christ dying on the cross and baptism in His name as being in two different camps. Paul said in Romans 6 "...as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? [4] Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death...". (Paul did not say symbolize, represent, illuminate, or identify) Paul went on on to say about baptism "Romans 6:6-7 NKJV knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. [7] For he who has died has been freed from sin." They are intricately linked, not alien to each other as you allude to. For what purpose(s) did Jesus and the apostles prescribe baptism in Jesus's name, which started at the Great Commision and Pentecost Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38-39 ? And where is it explicitly written?

You are sorely mistaken, sir. Water baptism does nothing to wash away our sins. Our sins are washed away by faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 3:21 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16
@Rejoran

There's no scripture that expresses a conflict between the shed blood of Christ and baptism in His name. You can share a ton of scriptures that say we are saved by the blood and that is not in question. None of them say "We are saved by the blood, not baptism!" The Bible authors never expressed a conflict. They also shared how baptism in Jesus's name is involved in being saved/forgiven Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38-39, and the two scriptures you shared among others. The words in those passages contradict your initial statement. Granted, the water itself doesn't wash away our sins, God does, when He sees someone believe in and Accept Jesus as Lord, repents, and is baptized in Jesus's name, which is in water.- According to the writings He left us in the Bible.

Luke 1 : 76 -77 And thou , child , shall be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways ; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people By the remission of their sins , Luke 3 : 2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests , the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the country about Jordan , preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins ; as it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, Baptism is for the purpose for remission (forgiveness) of sin , it always was Gods plan and still is today. Acts 2 : 38 Then Peter said unto them , repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins , and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

@Sean the Baptist , since all are listed for the remission of sins (belief & baptism), then all apply. That would change if there was a passage that said, "....but not baptism". As it stands, all scriptures that associate belief and being saved & baptism in Jesus's name and being saved both apply.
