The lyrics of Daemon's song in house of the dragon basically confirm for me what George RR Martin is doing with the idea of the three heads of the dragon and it explains what is going on. This also makes sense of how Dany hatched her dragons and will tame and bond with drogon.

I suspect that Drogo's horse was there to provide physical blood for the ritual itself, but also just to be Drogo's horse and give him a good Dothraki funeral. Dany sees them both "rise" in the flames, and it's a feel good moment.

One youtuber did a great theory video where Miri put the soul of drogo, viserys, and dany's baby inside herself and the horse soul inside drogo, that is why he wasn't responsive, he had the mind of a horse. And when Dany sacrificed Miri she starts chanting and that what she is doing is send the spirit of drogo, viserys, and dany's baby into the petrifying dragon eggs. That dany's dragons actually are her brother, husband, and child. And that miri's soul was used to save Dany's life, which is why she was untouchable by the flame. George has said many times that the show has dany being fireproof but his dany is not. This was a special magical event that saved her from the fire

Started your videos about a week ago. You are absolutely spot on, about everything. When I watched your videos about the Others in the wall I was like, "well shit, he figured it out." Everything just clicked all of a sudden. Absolute S Class theory crafting. Please keep it up. Your videos breathe an air of fresh life into a story that's been left stagnant for 12 years. No one in the ASOIAF community is putting out good content rn. The subjects of your videos shed light to a deliberately opaque topic which holds a lot of the answers to the questions posed in the books. How magic systems function has always been the most fascinating aspect of fantasy for me. Anyways, thanks, please keep it up.

Also, is it possible that the Valeryans used the comet the same way the children use the trees, like a soul jar for their deceased? When a dragon rider dies, does their soul fly up into the comet? Could the comet being in close proximity be responsible for things like dragon dreams or visions of past dragon riders? I have so many questions!!! 😂

Thanks for the high praise it means a lot. The series only really kicked off about a week or two ago so consider yourself early! I also always felt the magic side of things was most interesting and the undying/others bound as a power source in the wall feel so central to it once you see it. It really explains to me why the theory craft toward magic in the fandom always seemed to be missing something compared to other areas of theories. Also the wall and the old ways being central to the problem and the corrupt heart tree needing to be uncorrupted feel like missing pieces to end game type theories. Then we also get new lore dumps like the lyrics in house of the dragon that make solving mysteries like this one a bit easier. So there is suddenly new theories to be crafted even these 12 years later. I personally feel like I now can see the series in a whole new light. Very glad you like the channel and I do intend to keep it up. There is a lot more to talk about

Honestly that could be possible. I had a heaven's gate reference that got cut out when I re-recorded this episode for better audio but basically I could very much see them having done some sort of ritual to put souls on the comet with GRRM making a reference to the idea the comet is coming to take our souls away. It is all so vague unless we get more lore from GRRM on how they used comets anything you like that makes sense probably could be head canon. Maybe there is even something to be found in lore I have missed. But in short yes I think the comet could be responsible for a return of magic due to Valyrian interactions with it in the past, whatever form they took. Sort of a magic-scientific explanation with some logic there. Rather than GRRM just saying "the comet was magic because it was magic"

Rhaego and the horse soul merge, maybe. This could be part of the “stallion that mounts the world”.

The three heads of the dragon mean a handful of different things, but the original meaning was: 1. A fire wyrm 2. A wyvern 3. The spirit of a sacrificed person of either Valyrian or Empire of the Dawn blood, whose descendants will be able to bond with the dragon. It's the recipe for how The Great Empire of the Dawn created dragons. It later went on to mean: 1. The dragon rider (so decadent of whoever was sacrificed) 2. The dragon 3. The soul inside the dragon (ie the person who was sacrified) which is an explanation of the dragon-bonding process.

I also think it might be: 1. Dragon Rider 2. Skin Changer 3. Dreamer
@SuperTossik

Could it not simply be: one head = rider, one head = dragon/dragon soul, one head = the sacrificed soul which allows for communication between the rider and the dragon. Dragons do seem to be creatures that are alive (have a soul) but are also very different from any other animal. So a rider would need some sort of translator in order to communicate with it's dragon. So you sacrifice an other person, this soul then resides in the dragon and allows for the communication between rider and dragon. Since a warg or skinchanger doesn't need to sarcifice anyone to control an animal. But these are animals that are far more simmilar to humans than dragons are.

Definitely think it’s Rhaego’s soul. Being able to use a horse to power blood magic seems cheap, I think what happened is that Rhaego’s soul was put into Drogo to sustain his life, and the reason Drogo is unresponsive after is because he is literally a man’s consciousness that has been combined with the consciousness of a disfigured lizard fetus and thus cannot function. Miri is one of the few confirmed shadowbinders in this story, and shadowbinders bind souls to physical containers so it makes sense that she bound Rhaego’s soul within Drogo. When Dany births her dragons, these souls are able to untangle and function once more as a head of a dragon
@michaeltalksaboutstuff
@michaeltalksaboutstuff 9 месяцев назад
I do agree it almost has to be Rhaego. That blend of two souls that you mention as a reason for Drogo being unable to function after the ritual is a really good idea and explains how he held both really well.
@loooongneck
@loooongneck 9 месяцев назад
@@michaeltalksaboutstuff I guess in this scenario the horse would function as the sacrifice that allowed the spell for binding Rhaego’s soul to Drogo’s body to work? That makes most sense to me because then the “payment soul” isn’t actually any of the souls being transferred. It’s weird to me for a soul to be both a sacrifice and also bound to something in a shadowbinding spell since “sacrifice” implies you lose the thing that’s sacrificed

Based on description, what would you say the Mother of Mountains is? It's a very odd place, but I'd say it cound be an old or extinct volcano. But on a more simple level, when paired with Womb of the World you have a black pool and a barrow. Dany ate a heart and her brother was sacrificed. In the area of magic, note that it is forbidden to spill blood. If this is a magic site, this prohibition is very curious. Never the less, Viserys is sacrificed in Vaes Dothrak, while Dany and eggs are present. GRRM has said that Valyrians lived near the 14 flames because that is where fire magic is strongest. If the Mother of Mountains is a dead volcano, or the biggest Barrow ever, a sacrifice near it might have paid for the eggs elemental spirits. I like the Comet theory, but at the same time it's hard not to note the potential of a giant barrow with a pool beside it rumoured to have no bottom. Especially when there's a rule about spilling blood.

That is an interesting question. I hadn't really thought about it too much and will have to look into it more, so not much insight to give. Maybe could be the topic of a future video one day. That is an interesting theory that it's an old dead volcano or huge barrow

Daenerys might have bound herself to Drogon this way, but she did not bind herself to all three dragons. Also if the dragon soul was pulled from the comet then why were the sacrifice souls put into the dragons as well. This creates a problem later when someone is bound to ride one of the dragons. Suppose John Snow binds Raeg to him. This ends up with 4 souls together, in order: Mirri Maz Duur, the comet soul, whoever is sacrificed for John, and John. That's 4. Drogo was placed in Drogon when Daenerys bound to him as his rider. But the others were not bound to her. She never rides them. They would only have the comet spirit and the sacrifice spirit. No, there is too much guessing here that doesn't add up especially when considering that three are needed to make a dragon rider and that an additional 1 was needed to give life to the eggs. I'm not sure how it really does work, but this isn't it. Causes too many problems later on.

What if Jon not only jumps into Ghost, but gets ping-ponged(??) along the wall through all the heart trees. Could raisin Bran and mushroom face be there to lasso him in so his consciousness stays intact? What if the scene from the show where Bran is marked is actually Jon during this, and to go with George's "bittersweet" ending, from that point Jon's end is tied with The Great Other?

I think your idea of the comet being a dragonsoulseedvault is interesting, as it loosely parallel's the Dothraki view that dragons came from the second moon that burned. Dothraki are from what is the womb of the world, which implies it is the origin of humanity, so their lore could be the most ancient and accurate. Perhaps that moon always contained dragonsouls and the comet is a fragment of that moon. As it naturally contained the souls, the Valyrians just learned how to add some into it. In fact, psychic powers and gods are also associated with eachother all over the place, and psychic powers are also connected to the moon. In addition, Valyrians literally named their dragons after their gods. Which impliest that the Valyrians psychic gods live on that comet moon fragment with dragonsouls, or the gods are the dragonsouls. Maybe those entities gave Dany her knowledge of dragon breeding when the comet passed. I don't know anything anymore!

Love the interpretation of the dragon has three heads. But, my question is this: who are the sacrifice spirits for dragons like syrax, caraxes, dreamfyre, sunfyre, arrax, etc. These dragons are hatched and bonded. So, all you have is dragon + rider. No sacrifice. Or is there more?
@thefastmagician
@thefastmagician 25 дней назад
So going by that logic, in HOTD, was Aemonds bond with Vhager because Laena burned as a sacrifice? The bond was formed quickly after her funeral.

Other possibilities for the comet. It dispenses soul, not dragon soul, and the soul was shaped/placed into a dragon. It weakens a barrier between to where souls are fetched. The dragons souls were still in the eggs but were awakened by the comet power. Etc.

Do you think the extinction of the dragons around 150 AC is also linked to the abolition of the first night tradition a century before?
@michaeltalksaboutstuff
@michaeltalksaboutstuff 11 месяцев назад
That is an interesting thought I hadn't considered. I tend to think that with the dragons going extinct GRRM is making a statement about the nature of fire and power being hard to wield and the Targs destroying themselves from within. But if the original hatching magic was somehow in line with the walls power it is possible the weakening wall magic played a part.
@IaintThepappy

Not likely. There was another theory on this about seven years ago. The short version is that dragon riders and dragon hatchers are determined by genetics. The gene is passed on through the X chromosome. The maesters being this world’s scientists figured this out and made moves both behind the scenes and out in the open in order to remove the gene from the bloodline. Moves like being against specific marriages and killing specific children as well as making sure some of the mothers that could pass on the gene were either barren or sent away before they could reproduce with a dragon rider.

I recently subscribed to your page off of one of your series of weirwoods in the wall and white walker sacrifices crucified to them. I was wondering if you’ve talked to David lightbringer at all about the deeper lore as well as the esoteric up for interpretation lore like that. Your theory is my favorite so far but I was wondering what his reaction might be to it (not that it would change my opinion on whether it’s my favorite or not)

I do like a lot of David's stuff, he is even deeper into the symbolism than me and seeing some of his videos over the years have been helpful in understanding the series. He I think had a pretty similar take on this when the song lyrics came out, I watched his video about the lyrics to Daemon's song and he was speaking about Valyrian Lemur theory in the video. Which is a really good symbolic point toward the idea of Old Valyrian souls in the dragons. If I recall correctly our takes were different enough to warrant me making a video and I didn't feel I was fully copying him, but they are along a lot of the same lines. David has some very quality stuff for sure.

I got a click on smth when you mentioned the comet: in real life, comets are believed to provide power to spells/sorcery in some religions and cultures. I was thinking that since a spell was happening(dany's pyre) with the comet on the sky, perhaps that was the same with the glass candles? Some damn good sorcerer saw the comet on the sky then tried a spell(fire and blood) to light up the candles? I don't know, i thought of the comet as "well, thats a good time to power up spells" 😂😂 I love your vídeos ❤ great work

he dragon baby miscarriages I think are critical for hatching. It would make sense for that whatever gave rider families their ability to bond also provided an automatic supply of sacrifices. I could see this being a secret that only select adult targs knew, and the knowledge was lost after the dance

this theory has me thinking... what if a similar logic applied to direwolves, essentially the ice to the dragons' fire? there could be implications about jon warging into ghost when he dies, certainly, but i'm more thinking of lady's death as an inverse of dany's dragons hatching in book 1. what if ned, sansa, and lady are three heads of the (dead) direwolf, connecting sansa to the afterlife (perhaps ned specifically) or the weirwood network? in this theory i guess ned would be the sacrifice even though he died after lady. nevertheless, their deaths are very mirrored with both even dying by the same sword.

Interesting to think that dragons don't get sustenance from eating things but rather from burning them. This is Fire And Blood magic. It is much the same way that Melisandra doesn't need to eat, but does need to light people on fire. If they can't burn things cause they're locked in a dragon pit then they get weak and can be killed. Since fire cannot harm a dragon they cannot consume another dragon and consolidate power that way. They can kill another dragon by biting or cutting, but this doesn't do anything useful except remove a fire to feed. Dragons always burn what they eat. But eating it might not be necessary, just convenient. It may take time for the power to be transferred and having the victim nearby (in its stomach) seems the easiest way. Otherwise a dragon on a battlefield would get more and more powerful before the fight was over. But if it takes a few hours the fight would be long over before they benefit from the 40,000 people burned. They'd also have to hang out in the ashes afterwards which they aren't prone to do all that often. Easier just to eat a few and move on.

The problem I see: how did Aemon claim Vhagar without a sacrifice?
@michaeltalksaboutstuff
@michaeltalksaboutstuff 11 месяцев назад
The sacrifice is merged in there upon the hatching in my opinion. The reason Daemon sings about the two heads to a third sing is because a living dragon has at least the 2 heads at all times. Only becoming 3 headed with a rider. My take is dragon taming comes down to if those other two heads will accept the particular rider as a third. Song's have magic power in GRRM's world so Daemon is trying to sooth Vermithor in hopes of making it more likely to be docile and accept whoever he tries to get to ride it. But the song technically wouldn't be needed either, as we see with Vhagar being claimed. Daemon is just using what dragon secrets he knows trying to increase the chances of success.

I think that the red comic temporarily boosted blood magic similarly how in the vampire diaries a full moon or comic can boost a witches magic. Deanerys already sense the dragons inside of the egg before the comic and sacrifice i belive the dragon was in a hibernation like state and and the four deaths of the horse the witch and khal drogo plus the fire 🔥 and the red comic ☄️ made for some kind of big magical expression ritual that woke up the dragons and how the Daenerys control them is through some kind of telepathy link
@michaeltalksaboutstuff
@michaeltalksaboutstuff 11 месяцев назад
I could buy that there were inherent dragon souls in the eggs as well and the idea that the comet just woke them somehow. I do think we have good reason to suspect one of the heads is the sacrifice and one is a rider but the third soul is a lot more of just a best guess as to how it works. On top of the fact that all of this is just guessing anyway.
