I've been an avid Megaman fan since I was 7 years old and the X series has always been my favorite in the entirety of the franchise. I've gone on binges of playing Megaman games that have lasted for years on end and even I never knew about that little detail regarding why the Rolling Shield can harm Sigma's second form. That was a really enticing tidbit of lore.

I might be late to the game here, but if you jump over the sucking mini boss, and force yourself into the far corner behind it, it'll start blowing in an attempt to force you back to the left side of the screen. That version is actually in the game!

My favorite theory is that Axl was originally designed by Dr Cossack and ultimately finished by Kalinka. Axl shares a lot of design elements present in Cossack's creations, notably their gems, and also shares color scheme with Eddie and the Cossacks. Lastly, his signature ability, "A-Trans" was first seen in Dr Cossack's creations.

What I had always thought about X was that, given the timelines and lore, he was built from the components of a disassembled Rock (perhaps including the code that made up the final aspects of his A.I, since both share similar aspects of distaste for fighting but being willing to in order to protect those around them).

The improper music loops were quite jarring. The imagery commonly did not align with the topic at hand, and there's considerably more to the X series than this. Much like, Dr. Light's hologram BEING COMPLETELY SENTIENT.

The Archie Comics Mega Man series didn't go on hiatus, Archie Comics lost the rights to both Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog. They both ended entirely, with no resolution to their then-current plotlines. The final volume of their Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration, Worlds Unite #3, never even got released, despite being up for pre-order when they had the rights to both licenses.

its been theorise that the maverick virus originated from zero and its original form is the Evil energy from mega man 8, as mega man 8 and X4 came out the same year and compliment each other. And then X5 was supposed to be the final chapter of the series before capcom did X6 behind Inafune's back.

I actually believe this as well, Wiley's ace in the hole was to use the new found Cosmic energy to power his new Robot. The Arcade game featuring Duo also hints at this. Duo and the birth of Zero are technically in the same game.

I like to think that X is actually the original Megaman rebuilt after base Megaman was nearly destroyed offscreen. There is little evidence, but I like to think it.

I think it was largely Capcom’s fault that Maverick Hunter X didn’t sell that well. As it was a PSP exclusive. They didn’t bother to port it and Mega Man Powered up to other consoles And they had plans to remake 2-6 next with plans for an OVA for each game which were scrapped because the sales due to it being a PSP exclusive, I don’t know who allowed such a moronic decision, but I’m sure any sensible person would understand that when there is a large demand for mega man outside of PSP why not actually give them a port to play? I’m sure Maverick Hunter X and Mega Man Powered up if they bundled it would’ve sold very well if it got a release on an Xbox, PlayStation home console, or the Wii

Cool video but what's up with the editing on some sections of the video? On the cut content section the images weren't matching with what was being said, for a moment I thought mu youtube was glitching or something. Poorly edited moments like these detract a lot from the experience. At least now it's a human voice again, so that's better at least.

the final fan theory is cute but doesnt really work... x2 through the original writing of the game one of the x hunters was portraied as wily... then again in x5 its kinda stated that sigma has found someone that hates x just as much as him... then again in x6 its thought that the guy that works for gate is zero even so much to say when the character dies?? he even wispers something to zero in the end of that segment, so its a nice theory but doesnt really hold water there... nice iceburg tho

Huh, I wonder if the other Zero sprites were from when he was a playable character? Even when you get to use him some in X3 and finally as a playable character in X4, his abilities he learns (sword techniques in X4) don't change his palate. Must be a different thing in Wiley vs Light models. Though Zero IS surprisingly variable for a Wiley built robot. ...though I've never heard the Wiley died in MM3 and Zero was a robot body theory.

Zero has his own Learning System that's slightly different from X's Variable Weapons System, he learns his techniques for his saber and himself, unlike X who is more straightforward and uses boss' attacks directly and has access to armors for movement and stuff, it's very neat (hopefully i explained that right)

The jump to 16 bit consoles was a grand outing for the blue bomber, but you know what really didn’t impress me? His Life Bar! Consider this; if X is meant to be the ultimate form of Mega man , how is his life bar such a flog?! Hear me out- the game requirements needed hidden loot to find, it makes it a more interesting experience and obviously rewards the player for being clever enough to discover/ find such items. It also makes the difficulty level way harder if the player is not aware of the order of the bosses. It’s a clever move from Capcom and really you could nearly consider the clever swap out of main character in X2/3 to metal gear solid 2. Remember Raiden? Well he’s our Zero. Great games all those years ago🤙 Who else but Capcom can give their robot man a street fighter special move that was way hidden and really only found in gaming newsprint?

Before zero there were willy wars. After zero was sealed, before the sigma virus, there were Mavericks. After zero is sealed and there's no sigma virus, there are elf wars. After the whole zero series there are still the ZX. The creation of Zero is but a speck in the whole conflicts of that world.

Was gonna say. Yeah those moves are super effective against those bosses. You worded it the other way around. Although it's backwards, it still puts the relevant info at least close to where it needs to be. Boss by weapon weakness. And these games got crazy with the weaknesses. I blame the Spark Mandrill fight. That fight went from challenging to a joke with the right weapon. It's been dubbed on the internet at Spark Mandrill syndrome when it happens with later bosses. Which is nearly all of them by like game 3 or 4. The first two X games kept it in check most of the time. But after that they just ruined the challenge of any boss fight by making their weakness weapon just stun or stop them completely. As much fun as the games are, I still to this day only use the weakness weapons during the gauntlet at the end. Because otherwise the whole thing is just too damn easy.

i would not mind a total reboot of the X series with PS4/PS5 graphics and a flushed out consistent story (maybe even starting the series around the time period dr. Cain found X and created Sigma and when Zero was evil or corrupted). would be cool to beat the game as x first, then play as Sigma. also, so many mysteries to the x saga, like who was Gamma. who was Guy (green biker dude). i miss playing X :(

Again with the main zero bullshit. Yes, inafune wanted him to steal the spotlight , even forced it to by ridiculously twisting the plots, but X was always the main character. Even inafune calls Zero the sub-character "I designed X, but I remember having a very hard time coming up with the initial design... The Super NES allowed me to use a broader range of colors, and that turned out to be quite a challenge as I was not used to so much freedom. -Hayato Kaji "Usually, I would be the one doing the main characters, and Kaji would take care of the sub characters. This time, however, we decided to change things up a bit. I asked Kaji to do Mega Man, and I made the sub character, Zero, my project. I'm sure I've said this in may different places in more than a few different ways, but I really wanted Zero to be a playable character. Thank you for the secrets. I remember I played Megaman X on DOS, and there is a similar passage to the upper floor near the Leg upgrade capsule. Also, I didn't want to take the X-Buster upgrade, and Zero didn't give it to me. I continued playing the game until the end. Then I'd spent a lot of hours trying to beat Sigma WITHOUT the X-Buster upgrade! And only after I got the upgrade, I was able to beat him.

I would assume the faded Zero sprite is for something about him showing up again in some way after his "death" after the a Vile fight. The purple sprite I have no idea what it could've been for other than some upgrade when he was meant to be playable. Like either a version of the X Armor for him or just a power up from an enemy (like extra damage or defense). Really wished they would've used him as a playable character earlier than X3. But since he didn't have his sword until X2, then he would've been exactly like X in a way I guess. I just know he sucked ass in X3 and if we could have gotten to play him sooner he could've been fine tuned quicker and by the time X3 came around he would've been closer to what he was in X4 and beyond. Which is the Zero that every loves to use. Because he was awesome as all hell

I think calling him Megaman over here worked out better for the series in the long run. I get that Rockman was supposed to be a music reference and that Rockman and Roll pair to make Rock n Roll. But that reference no longer applies since Roll doesn't exist. Although having a version of her show up later would be crazy. Or others coming back from the old days to appear in the new series. But if they showed up they would probably have to actually explain what happened to the original Megaman too. Anyway. Yeah. I think Megaman is a better name anyway. I never liked Rockman for a name.

I really wish they would've kept the changing levels thing throughout this whole series. That made returning to levels to collect things a necessity if you wanted to get everything. Like it was impossible to get the Heart Tanks in Flame Mammoth and Sting Chameleon stages without causing the environment to change. Freezing the lava to walk over to get it and flooding the level to be able to jump farther to reach the platform. In later games they made this more of a once you have the right weapon upgrade you can collect everything. But having the levels change was really fun. Beating Storm Eagle crashed his ship into Spark Mandrills power plant (which might have been what always made the lights go out. Not sure because Storm Eagle is often the second one I best because is weapon is super useful for damaging minibosses). Idk. Point is that it was a neat mechanic and should have been more reusable in later games. Even up they had it as a selectable thing. Like when you choose a stage, you could select normal or altered version. This would be like an extra unlockable and everybody loves unlocking shit in games. Lol

Also wish they'd have kept the Street Fighter (or any other Capcom game references) super moves as a running gag for the series. They only did the 2 of them and then the 3rd game got enhancement chips with the gold mega chip being its secret thing. Then X4 and on got the Ultimate Armor. But to have more Capcom references popping up would've been awesome too. Eventually we would have gotten to Akuma's Raging Demon super move. Which would have been brutal as all hell and a lot of fun. Lol. Although I guess making Zero's rising attacks was their way of keeping the Shoryuken in the games on a lesser level. But the one hit win moves would've been nice to add in. Even if only as unlockable after beating the game type things. Idk

It’s pretty strongly implied he was destroyed. One fan theory is that he was destroyed by Zero before he was placed in a capsule. Another popular theory is that Mega Man is reprogrammed by Dr Wily to become Quint and is subsequently destroyed by his past self in the game boy Mega Man II. Not sure if Capcom officially debunked these or not, but at the very least they keep what happens during the time period between the classic Mega Man series and the Mega Man X series pretty vague.

@@dkeuro9543 Quint is from another timeline, so that's still ambiguous, Zero destroying him has been debunked in an interview and doesn't hold up that well either way, so most likely mega man was simply deactivated in the end, still very sad though

@@Josuh yeah they were fan theories and while it seems these were not the intention of the creators, Capcom definitely leaves everything very vague so they can still do whatever they want in the future
