I’ve had this book on my bookshelf for so long and just never had the confidence to make anything. However, I picked it up the other day as I am only 5’2 I am finding it harder than ever to find clothes to fit me. I wanted to make a dress and through searching found your amazing videos! This is the second one I’ve watched now and I am brimming with confidence at giving it a go. My fabric arrives tomorrow, so now the hardest thing will be to choose which dress to make! I was set on the Lilou, but now seeing this one, I’m not so sure! Thank you so much for your video, I shall give this one a go and then hopefully be back for more inspiration!
Love the fabric, Dianne. Well done for squeezing your dress out of one metre of fabric! I've made two pairs of True Bias Lander pants. For my size (I made the size 6) the pattern recommends 2.7 metres of 150cm fabric. I got them easily out of 1.6 metres. Like you, it was all I had. The suggested layouts have acres of empty space! What a waste that would be!
Thank you Liz, yes the suggested layouts do create a lot of waste. I think maybe people who are new to sewing might be nervous about not using the layout plan but it is always best to try out your pieces first isn't it ? I always try to use up all my little bits anyway. I may do some videos on that in future.
Hi Annette, I always do there is such a lot of waste otherwise you just have to play around with the placement a bit, fold from both sides etc. Thank you for watching.
This looks lovely! Which is your favourite Tilly book? I’m trying to decide which one to get first! I like this sort of style clothing - casual feminine. Is there a lot of this sort of style in that book? Thanks in advance!
Hi Karen, you need to lift it at the the shoulders so unpick there and neck facing, try on and pin, take out excess from the seam. So for me that was 1cm. Maybe I'll do a video on it at some point.
