Love your videos Nick. I take delivery of my GLB 200 premium in Mountain grey in July. I can’t wait. Your videos really help to explain the gadgets and how to get the most out of your MB. Many thanks. 👍👏🏻
Great video as usual! I just took delivery of a GLB35 a week ago, I very happy with it, a really practical and sure footed car. I downsized from a 2012 GL
Excellent video as always Nick. I must confess its not the prettiest mercedes out there but your thorough approach and ability to emphase the best of the car makes this vehicle look very appealing and a viable option for a customer to consider. Thanks again Nick.
Thank you! I’ve noticed that some models do and some don’t. I would imagine it’s just down to the engine layout / cooling or heat dissipation. Or noise reduction? I’m sure it’s one of those reasons!
Hey Nick! Excellent Video! I'm very interested in towing with our new Mercedes, which should be arriving at the beginning of next year. We mainly ordered the trailer hitch to take our bikes with us on vacation. What assistance systems are still working while towing and is it necessary to be particularly careful because of the high torque from the electric motor in the EQ power models? I read in the owner's manual that the reversing camera has a special towing position. Is that right? A video about this topic is also hard to find on RU-vid! It would be great if you could make a video about it!
Hi Berno, Thanks for the comment! Glad you like the video! All of the assistance systems function like normal, I guess the only things which might be affected will be the parking sensors for the rear. As far as I’m aware there isn’t an EQ power model on the GLB in the UK. Not sure if they’ll be one in the future! Yes the reversing camera usually does on other models. I haven’t used it on the GLB yet but if I see one I’ll take a look.
@@npoleary Sorry, I was a little imprecise with my statement in my comment. 😅 Our new Mercedes will be a CLA SB 250e. You're absolutely right that a GLB PHEV isn't available. Speaking of not available: Why can the Parktronic from model year 20/2 on not park parallel anymore? It was a great feature when we tried it last time and very impressive to watch!
Hi Berno, Ah okay no problem! Ooo very nice! The CLA 250e’s are very very nice! Wouldn’t mind one myself! One day! In answer to your question about Parking Assist, with the growing intelligence of assistance systems in cars across the world, new laws have had to come into play to ensure the driver is in full control of their car at all times (even when parking and using driving assistance packages etc). This is of course obvious to us all, but the laws that have come into effect now mean that vehicles must be fitted with a hands on / hands off sensor to be able to utilise Active Lane Change Assist and Active Parking Assist. As Mercedes-Benz do not have a hands on / hands off sensor (not many manufactures do yet) they like others have had no choice but to remove it. This is to comply with the United Nations regulation Law (UN-R-79).
@@npoleary Thank you for your quick answer! I always wondered what could be the reason - I as a car manufacture wouldn't delete helpful assistance systems but it's understandable that Mercedes had to react to new laws. It's a bit disappointing for me that some laws regulate car manufacturers so much in terms of innovation of assisted driving on level 2+. Especially the Parktronic is a system where the driver is always able to stop or control the car in every moment of the parking process like you showed us. Mercedes found good ways to keep the driver always able to immediately cancel the operation. Those implementation methods should stay legal in my opinion. It's another story at level 3 and partly autonomous driving where the driver is allowed to be distracted. I think the UN law primarily targets manufactures who promise autopilots without mentioning their limits. Unfortunately this also affects well thought out systems. 😕 Apart from that: Keep up the good work! I'm really impressed with the quality of your videos! 👌🏼Especially your explanations are easy to understand and help people like my dad to understand the variety of features today's cars got. I'm glad I found your channel! Stay healthy!
Thanks Berno! Yes it’s exciting stuff for the future for sure! Only time will tell I guess! Glad you like the videos! Thank you! I’ll keep them coming! 🤓
Interesting little SUV. I really love this car. Just two years ago, the only seven-seater Mercedes-Benz offered was the GLS beast. Now there are two more. Different sizes, yes, but seven-seaters. Awesome.
Thanks Nick for covering GLB. I bought one a month ago, Its fantastic so far. smooth car, reasonable engine and the 7 seats from Mercedes make it worth buying.
@@npoleary is getting to the 3rd row of seats difficult? it looks as if the 2nd row seat does come down but I can't tell from anything I've seen if a child would have to basically "walk on and over" the back of the 2nd row seat in order to get to the 3rd row. In a lot of mini vans the 2nd row seat becomes flush with the floorboard, making it very easy to get to the 3rd row. appreciate if anyone who has the 3rd row seats would chime in as well. THANKS
Thanks Martin! Yes one of Mercedes’s hidden models that not many people know about. Very practical with 7 seats as an option but has all of the latest gadgets found in other models too!
Hi Nick, great video for those interested in the GLB. Will you be doing an in depth one for the AMG GLB 35. I’m seriously thinking of getting one this year ‘22.
Fortunately, the kids are out of the age that we need a seven-seater. 😎✌🏼 - But the GLB is an interesting car and Mercedes has closed a gap in its range with the model. - Thanks for the great video! 😃👍🏼 - Stay healthy. Many greetings from Berlin, Sven
Yes I believe so, but I’m pretty sure it was introduced recently so might not be on older models. Double check with a Mercedes dealer though to be sure!
Hi Nick, thank you for this video. I got one question - i just bought used GLB 2020 model with premium package, but there is no head up display. I am surprised as i see example this feature in manual. Is that something related to year model version or car package ?
Hey Martin! Thank you glad you enjoyed it! Ah just go careful reading the manuals back to front, they will refer to specification which doesn’t exist in the UK. Head up displays are extremely rare on Mercedes and are usually only found on AMG models to help with faster driving on a track etc
Thanks for this informative video, another good idea about mb products, never thought about this car before, it could be a good choice for a small family car. Keep going 👏🏻👏🏻
Hey Nick, I know it's prob not appropriate place to ask this question. You had a video about mercedes.me app - is the feature "pre-entry climate" present in every hybrid car? (I'm about to own a 2020 GLA 250e in a few days). Love your work and your knowledge!
Hi Daniel, It is but I can only vouch for the UK, not sure about countries but yes all electrics and plug in hybrids have Pre-Entry Climate Control. Hope that helps!
Hi Nick, thanks for another beautiful video . I have GLC 300 premium plus coupe petrol. If you don’t mind can you please review on that one. Will be much appreciated thanks 🙏
I’ll try! All the videos for this year have pretty much all been recorded in advance (due to the UK lockdown we’re in now). So it might have to be next year now! But...added to the list!
Hi Nick. Thanks for this video. Superb as usual. I have fallen in love with the GLB and its practicality. I have a question about this car though. I think you may have covered this in one of your umpteen videos, but I could not find it. Does the GLB 200 have the option to select manual only gear shift using the paddles? Or would it just keep autoadjusting the gears automatically?
Thank you! 🤓 Yeah you can customise an “Individual” mode on DYNAMIC SELECT which will stay in Manual so you can then adjust the gears manually. Hope that helps! 🤓
Thanks for another interesting video Nick! I think the shape/styling of this model is a bit strange compared to the other Mercedes but a very informative video as always 👍👌
The new one’s do! I’ve got one on test at the moment Video coming soon 👀 But as always I’d recommend chatting with a dealer so they can let you know what the spec available is on the car
@@npoleary Thanks for the reply Nick. All of your videos are amazing. I honestly think that every person who owns a Merc or is thinking of buying one must subscribe to your channel.
Great video, it's so helpful! Picked up our GLB Premium on Sunday and we're loving it. Wanted to ask, the back passenger door has to be literally slammed in order for it to shut properly. Is this normal? We had a Kia before so it's our first Mercedes purchase.
Hey Elizabeth, glad you like the videos! Hard to tell, I mean with most Mercedes you do have to close the doors fairly hard but if you don’t think something’s right, get in touch with your local dealership and I’m sure they’ll be able to help you out!
Nearly all vehicles now are what I would call soft close , my son I have to get him not to slam the door because of this. I suspect because underneath the GLB is an A class and they have literally raised the roof to make it an SUV the door alignment is out of synch.
Hi Nick - I recently bought a 2022 GLB 250 but ever since have been feeling that head light brightness is extremely dim. I can hardly see in dark barely 3-4 metre visibility and that too goes off when I have cars approach from opposite direction. Tried setting it to high beam as well but not a major improvement. What should I do?
Hey saurav, ooo very nice! LED High Performance lights are very bright in Mercedes but if you don’t think something’s right, get in touch with them and they can check it out 👍🏼
Nope we don’t get that engine here in the UK :( I’ve personally owned an A250 before and absolutely love that engine. So powerful! (when you need it of course! 💨 )
Hey Nick. I have GLB 200 and cant get the easy entry exit to work. I have set it in but nothing happens. Does my car have this feature or is it an add on. I dont have AMG but have comfort and vision packages
Hey ENRickets, it honestly depends on your current seat configuration. If you have your seat quite far forward anyway then it won’t do any sadly. However if you don’t think something’s right, get in touch with your local Mercedes and they can investigate for you
Hey thanks for your message! No not at all, if you didn’t know Germany are in Lockdown just like us in the UK due to the rises of COVID-19 cases at the start of the year. Social distancing and less staff working across all businesses even in a factory environment, things can take longer so hang in there! It’ll be worth the wait! If you speak to the dealership you ordered from, they can give you updates on when things start moving :)
@@npoleary I got it in white with the Night Package, AMG Line, Pan Sunroof, Mirror Package, Parking Package, Ambient Lighting, Easy Tailgate and Tow hook. The front doors have the MB Logo display/light that reflects on the floor. I’m in Africa and it was only release 2days ago. I love the long screen display.
Looks like in the UK you don't get the GLB 250 which comes with a 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder with 165kw(221hp). Instead you have to go up to the GLB 35 which costs a lot more.
Yeah that’s right! I didn’t even know a GLB 250 petrol existed! But it’s not uncommon to see other variants of engines and specs elsewhere. Haven’t managed to get my hands on one of those yet!
@@npoleary Hi Nick. They're available here in Australia which I guess would be their Asia pacific region and also North America(USA and Canada). Not surprising then for an SUV built in Mexico.
Hey Nick, love the videos. Just bought a GLB and love it so far. One question I can't seem to find answered anywhere on the web and I though you may be able to help. Coming from a saloon car without any boot opening risks, does the GLB use sensors to detect obstacles to stop the boot opening in order to prevent damage? Let's say I had reverse parked and there was a wall behind me and I accidentally pressed the boot opener on the key, obviously scared of any damage that may occur. Any guidance on this appreciated thanks.
Hey 1973srn, Thank you glad you like the videos! Ooo very nice! Unfortunately no as with most boots, they do not have a sensor so they would hit the wall or object. However if it does detect some resistance then it’ll stop, but of course by then it will have hit it already.
@@npoleary Many thanks for the super prompt reply;-) As I thought but no big issue, will just be careful as with any other car I guess. Take care, Steve
Hey sheena9090, no sadly I haven’t seen one produced anywhere, but there are another almost 20 plug-in hybrids in Mercedes from SUV’s to estates and hatchbacks etc
Ah you’ll be pleased to know that the size for the GLA is virtually the same. The only difference is in it’s height. Length and width haven’t changed more than the size of a paperclip!
@@npoleary Hi Nick, always enjoy watching your videos; they are brilliant as always! I concur with the guys in this thread but would like to up the suggestion that perhaps you can consider a video comparing the ABCs of GLA, GLB and GLCs and if it makes sense GLE too. A specific video on the new GLC300 as requested by Jag is a superb suggestion (I was looking for it too). Looks like your 2021 is going to be busy, Nick.
Hi Ian you can do this if you want the full beam to be manual on your indicator stalk 🤓 Just remember it won’t dip automatically when car’s come toward you if you do this.
I don't understand what you mean. The high-beams should be in Automatic mode (push the left stick forward) for the multi-beam to come into play. Meaning the on-coming traffic doesn't get blinded by your high beams right?
Hi Nick! Thank you for all your videos! They are awesome! Just got my first Mercedes last week. I have some issues with the easy entry and exit functions. When I collected the car, with no profiles created, the backrest is able to come forward when I turned off the engine. After I created my profile, the function does not work even though it is turned on in the MBUX system. Need your advice!
Hi Nick, thank you for your fast reply. Unfortunately I was able to enable the function but the backrest of the seat does not move after I have tried to program my driver seat.
@@npoleary just long enough to cover a full basic review of the car.Maybe another 5 to 7 mins it all depends on how you wish to formulate your video, the reason I am interested in giving you feedback because I would rather watch your no nonsense no glowing reviews than those which are currently showing that have become more about the presenters than the cars.
Thanks Yarob! Glad you like the videos so much! That means a lot! Thank you 🙏 I’ve filmed pretty much everything already this year but I’ll implement longer vids next year, we’ll go into a bit more detail on topics!
They are slightly different... The GLB petrol engines feature a 7G-Dual Clutch Transmission where as the GLB Diesel engine features an 8G-Dual Clutch Transmission. The E-Class however features a 9G-TRONIC PLUS transmission so slightly different in that car.
