The QR code is actually called a "rescue code." Its for firefighters or emergency personnel. If they have access to the code it can show them where it's safe on the car to cut into without deploying an airbag if they need to save your life.

Uncle had a cl63 AMG tuned to over 780 hp. With traction control off, even going over 100kmh if you floored it the car's backside would slide. It could easily start spinning if you weren't careful. I'm guessing this pretty much does the same. The power on these cars is insane.

You are supposed to download and print out that security card (behind the QR code) and stick it unter your driverside sunshade. If you get into an accidents, fireman can use it to safely cut you out of the car without exploding an airbag or cutting into the fuel tank. Its common practice in germany!

On a normal SL the roof, and roll bar control switches are located where that one has the start button, the blank buttons are for the wing mirrors folding system, ABC System, suspension UP/DOWN, adaptive cruise control distance adjustment, parking sensors sound turn off, ESP switch, the START/STOP switch it´s on the top of the gear lever, and some others I don´t remember now, on my regular SL I only have two blank switches, I´m so proud.... hehehehehe

Doug, the QR code in the trunk of MB's isn't for owners, it's for the fire department if you have an accident. It alerts them to the important information about where critical systems are located. It can make it easier for them to help the occupants.
