Wow wow wow! I love the pun, and this came out so good! You dont give yourselves enough credit! The electroplating technique is really cool, ive only seen one other person do it but for jewelry so that was so exciting to see! Also, that color shift paint for the tail is just magnifique. Tysm for this video! 💜💜💜
Thank you so much! It’s been my dream to have metal items for my dolls ever since we started 3D printing stuff. So now that I know how to make it happen, I’m like a kid in a candy store. ELECTROPLATE ALL OF THE THINGS!!!
@@DollyPop Maybe next year I'll try finish up my ice floe Srien once she's done the storm Sirens are next then my very first freshwater Siren but what shall her weapon be since she's all about life magic in her waters a harp or something else?
I didn't watch The Mandalorian so I did have to look up the character this is based off of haha _but_ this doll is so impressive from a technical standpoint that it honestly doesn't matter if people are familiar with the IP or not. You and May are insane (/affectionate) and keep coming up with the wildest ideas for doll customizing! 😊❤
We are insane (/truth). 😆 I’m surprised you hadn’t even heard of the Mandalorian because Baby Yoda (Grogu) has been such a huge part of pop culture for the past 3 years or so. But I guess I run in nerdier circles. Lol! Thank you so much for the sweet compliments!
Okay wow, I did not expect to wander into a new doll video and find ELECTROPLATING. Dude, this was SO FREAKING COOL! And he looks great!! I wish I had the skillset, equipment, and space to try some of these techniques!! That iridescent paint on his tail, WOW!!! And Grogu!!!
There isn’t much of a skill set, as you can find most of the info online, but the equipment and space really are the barriers to entry. We don’t really have the space, but we squeeze it in. 😆
@@DollyPop Absolutely not!! Also I admire how you can pull off weathered metal cause, in reality, polished armor shows the armor user doesn't actually fight, so those brush strokes add a lot more story to the doll-
Never had in my life expected smth like this, it's very interesting idea and kinda funny at same time XD, I couldn't come up with smth this cool! And armor work is spectacular!!
Wow! This may be your best effort! You and Mae did such an incredible job. Absolutely my favorite video of yours. Can’t wait for more. Love all the other Mermays in the collaboration, but IMO yours is the best.
That’s really sweet, Susan. ❤️ There are so many wonderful dolls made for Mermay this year, with such new and original themes that it’s difficult for me to judge!
You used so many impressive techniques! I really wish I didnt hate my air brush because you do so many pretty things with yours! i admit i literally know nothing about star wars but this turned out fantastic. thanks for collabing with me!
I’ll be doing a tutorial soon(ish) for airbrushes. Hopefully we can coax you into using yours. 😅 They can be a lot of fun once you take out some of the mystique!❤️ It’s always a pleasure working with you. And one day you’ll have to teach me how to make gorgeous doll eyes like yours! 😍
@@DollyPop lol if you include how to clean the thing in it thatd be super helpful. ive watched tutorials but i always end up not cleaning them incorrectly....or putting them back together incorrectly and then getting frustrated :D dawww the eyes ya make are gorg though!!
This is so nerdy oml, you had me giggling and face palming before I even made it to the title card! Amazing work, I'm always so impressed with how well you handle "first attempts" if I didn't know any better I'd say you'd been using these techniques for years
I’m glad I was able to make you face palm. That makes me overly giddy. 😆 And while I don’t show all of our failures in my vids, trust that we had MANY, MANY fails before we got to these “ok” ones.
I don't know what I like best about this doll. The fact y'all tackled freaking electroplating to give his armor that Beskar look or Grogu in his adorable submarine. The techniques you guys used in this one are soooo cool! That really was the way. Just outstanding work!
Excellent work from both of you! I do believe I will add you to the list of other doll customizers I watch, because as a miniatures painter I can appreciate the effort and time you put into your work. You gotta have Baby Yoda with his Mandalorian buddy, and this whole thing looks great! I also like your wit and humor. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! You know, I grew up in a house full of dollhouse miniaturists, so that’s really where my crafting journey began. A lot of the stuff I used then is what I use now, but just in a slightly different application. ❤️
Absolutely adorable!! I’m glad you decided to give him a faceup despite his face being covered, it’s the attention to detail that I greatly appreciate!! Well done!!
He looks awesome! The electroplating is such a cool process. And your stringing method was so smart! 💖💖💖 I hope you're able to get some good rest now. 😅 It was lovely working with you!
I am delighted with this doll, every detail is very well worked and even more so with the metal parts the little grogu looks very cute, I am glad to have finally been able to collaborate with you 🤗💖
Well, second comment here, this is a wonderful wonderful wonderful work of art. The face paint, stunning, the tail, incredible. The attention to detail with the outfit and the electroplating on the armor!!! (can't wait to see what you manage to think up to use that for!) Oh my god it's all so cool! When the title card for grogu appeared i'm not too proud to say i squealed, so cute!! The eventual product is something to be so proud of. Absolutely incredible, beautiful work. Also, spotted that couch for your pins in some of the sewing shots, I absolutely love that, it's genius. All the love from here!
Yay! I’m glad you squealed! That makes it all worth it right there! And yes, I’m already brainstorming some other uses for the electroplating! Mwahahaha.
This is one awesome dude! Loving the pun and all you did to make a Mernandorian! We love watching you and your wife's experiments and tests! Adding the tiny MandaJedi was adorable in his little sub and goldfish! I love MerMay! We are watching the old animated series "Star Wars Rebels" since we now have Disney+ and Sabine Wren is another Mandalorian we love. If you decide to continue your Mandalorian series, I suggest her since she has such colourful armour and hair!
That’s a good idea! And yeah, we’re always coming up with new ways to make our life complicated. 😆 But we both love it. You gotta keep challenging yourself, right?
Oh gosh, that pun... Just perfection 😂 The doll came out so well, too. I'm sure you could point out mistakes and flaws with the electroplating but the rest of us didn't see them, so no worries! And I can't wait to see what delightful ideas you've come up with using it. 😁 The level of effort and detail put into your projects is always impressive... You spent all that time on the face only to hide it away for all time! And as always your production quality on the video is impressive as heck. 😊 All in all, another fantastic project!
Thank you, Christine! I could definitely show off all of the mistakes or errors, but it makes him look more battle worn, so it’s works. 😆 As far as his face… well I think I would have felt dirty if I didn’t give him a face. I know he won’t be seen again, but it just felt… wrong. Yanno?
The technic you used for making the armor. SO freakin' neat! I can't wait to see more of that. The doll turn out amazing! Love how you and your wife work together
The production quality on this is incredible! I've never watched a video of yours before but I am stunned! Definitely subscribed and will be watching your future endeavors as well!
Love the classic star wars scroll text at the start. I like how instead of “will the hero accomplish her mighty goal?” at the end it’s “Will DollyPop achieve this stupid task?” 😂
Spending hours and hours, and learning to electroplate, and making a vacuform out of your oven... All because you had a punny idea. That's the kind of chaotic dedication that inspires me
i came here from a community post by dollightful and WHAT THIS IS AMAZING!! little nerd me was absolutely joyed by this video from the editing to obviously the doll itself, so many nice details went into this! i subscribed pretty quickly after watching this, lol
I know I just saw how everything was made, but thats some witchcraft going on here! (As in, I could only dream of being able to understand big parts of what just happened, lol) This channel doesnt get enough recognition, you guys are amazing and awesome! You are funny, entertaining and talented! ❤
This is such a sweet comment! Thank you! It’s difficult to get noticed by the algorithm Gods these days, but I’m thrilled to have my 10k subscribers. ❤️
Absolutely amazing! 😍Love everything about this wonderful doll and the little Grogu! The armor electroplating is just fantastic, even though I didn't understand the whole process...😝Your work is getting better and better!❤
wow wow wow!!! i hadnt discovered your channel before this collab, but you got a new subscriber here! your editing style, voice, and talent in doll customizing is amazing and i love it! i cant wait to see what else you do :D
@@mrkat1999 I didn’t think it was rude. I don’t know another way of saying that area without calling it by it’s name though. Sclera could be “the whites of the eyes” but saying, “the little pink area in the inner corner of the eye” doesn’t really roll off the tongue.
So in the future I want to make African American classy dolls for the community. I aspire to be like you, use science and art to create wonderful art🙂🙂🙂🥺🥰
