It's fine to believe sometimes to YT they offer a great song :) Thanks for this, never heard of The Merry Thoughts. At the first moment I thought it's Andrew Eldritch and some material I don't know :) Great song, thanks for sharing.
These guys didn't consider them to be Goth. The band describes their music as 'counter pop', but The Merry Thoughts are often considered to be a gothic-rock band, because of their great success in the 90s gothic-rock scene.
They sound nothing like Nick Cave. They WERE Sisters clones. I've seen them live loads of times in the 80s and early 90s because they came from my hometown. Marvin copied Eldritch's vocal style, his way to dress and they even had a drum computer with a name (The Thoughtmachine). At some point they were more Sisters Of Mercy than SOM themselves. Still they were a great band with great tunes. But they (or at least Marvin Arkham) were obssessed about Sisters Of Mercy. No Nick Cave though...
@@hardykohr2583 You can even argue that choosing the name Arkham was copying Eldritch. He probably thought it was a Lovecraft thing but years later, Eldritch said it was a Philip K Dick reference.
