The Message of The Quran - Part 13: Surah Al-Ḥijr and Surah Al-Naḥl | Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi 

Lecture 13 • Surah Al hijr and Surah Al Naml. Surah Hijr.(the people of the mountain) • Middle makki • Primary theme is the fate of the people who disbelieve. • 99 verse • Begins with broken letters (alif-laam-raa) • The divine speech made of this disjoint words. • The very next verse speaks about the Qur'an. • The day will come for those who rejected will regret not being Muslim. • Let them enjoy they will know at the end. • V.9. we have sent down the remembrance and we will protect this (Qur'an) • This is a blessing of Allah. • V.14.even if we open the doors of heaven they would say our eyes have been hallucinating. • V.24.we know those who come forward and those who want to go bank. (People who come to pray in the first row for prayer). • Story of Adam and iblees. • Each time there is a new moral. • V.40. iblees can't harm the chosen and sincere servants. • V.49-50. inform my servants that I'm the forgiving and merciful. Indeed he is also punishing. • Story of Ibrahim A S and Lut A S. • Every instinct in man has a halal way. • V.72. certainly they are people who are blind. • Story of people of Shuaib As • Story of people of saalih AS. • Ending verse. • Surely we have given you the oft repeated 7(surah fathiha) versus and the Qur'an. • Prophet ﷺ is told to forgive the irritating people. • V.88. Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of them [i.e., the disbelievers], and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to the believers. • Allah is sufficient for us. • V.97. and We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. • V.98. so exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who Prostrate [to Him]. • V.99. and worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty [i.e., death]. Surah Al Nahl (the bee) • Makki surah • 128 verse. • Surah an' niam. Surah of blessings. • This is a surah mentioning many blessings of Allah. • Blessing of Qur'an. • Creation of man. • Cattle • Animals that we use as vehicles. • V.17. Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded? • V.18. And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. • V.65-81. many blessings. Milk from cattle, • Blessing of honey. • V.68. And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they • V.22-30. fate of people who reject the prophet and message. • V.30-32. The fate of believers. • The battle between prophet and the non-believers. • V.36. and We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid thagut and among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers. • V.43. and We sent not before you except men to whom we revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know. • The people of Arabia and their attitude towards girl child. They killed female child.v.57-59. • V.57. And they attribute to Allah daughters - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons]. • V.58. and when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. • V.59. He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide. • Blessing of family • V.72.And Allah has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allah they disbelieve? • V.78. and Allah has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful. • V.80 onwards. Blessing of house/home and blessing of tent. • V.80. and Allah has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time. • Blessings of clothing from animals. • There are various rules in Sharia for how to treat animals. • V.116. and do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allah. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed. • Why is Allah mentioning these blessings? • V.83. They recognize the favor of Allah; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers. • Famous verse quoted in all jumuah prayer.v.90. Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. • V.120. Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah • He was a role model, we was as if he was a whole nation. • Reality of preaching to others. V.125. Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction and argue with them in a way that is best. I'm really enjoying this overview of the Quran, thank you so much for doing this! I'm following along reading a Quran a free book service gave me 13 years ago when my daughter was born, but this is my first time reading it. I've heard the Quran many times recently because I bought it on audible about two years ago and have probably listened to it a total of 5 times from cover to cover but I appreciate the guided reading and discussion from this series to motivate me to read it with my own eyes.

Aslm.I listen daily one chapter.Dr Qadhi shukran it's the first time I doing full translation of quran altho I read quran fully in arabic with tajweed all my life.In SOuth africa we read fluently but we do not know meaning of arabic language but we read like the arabs...its a miracle in itself but we always want to understand. Some don’t eat meat because of Islamic reasons. Because most animals are being treated the worst way possible. Some people don’t want to support this because our prophet (saw) said: fear the rights of the dumb animals. If there’s good and respectful behavior towards animals when being held and slaughtered meat is a delicacy to eat. Alhamdulillah

I don't know how people can kill a newborn infant, a living child, can anyone even kill a puppy, I don't think so. If I let my imagine run, I am shaken to the thought of this, there is nothing more evil than this. God protect us from evil.

Does we dont violate Surah Hijr #87 "Walaqad atayna sab'an minal mathani wal Qur'an al adheem, As our imam dont start the Al fatihah with the Bismillah? as it is happening today, what are the correct reading Al Fatihah?

Yasir.qadhi is wise...he hasnt really pointed out the sin of the people of lut as he knows it will unnecessarily bring negative and hatred towards the quran

Salam isn’t 128 verses in sourate Al Nahl?
