@@joshuagraham3196 no, no meme is my 'over lord.' And it's not funny to worship a meme like its a god or something. That annoys me worse than any horrible meme could do.
I really like how the Shrek from the original storybook, kept a smile and a look of defiance on his face through most of all the troubles he faces throughout the book.
In my day, "Jackass" was the only way to say "ass" and it was not a "swear word" unless you kept saying it and giggling. Then, we all used "donkey" in the place of that word to ridicule people when that was an issue. You can censor language in attempts to mind control, you cannot really censor the thoughts and ideas without going draconian.
I totally read that book when I was a kid! Found it in my elementary school's library and 10 year old me was so excited to show my mom that Shrek was based off of a book lol
@@trinkab But ironically Shrek was also the beginning of Dreamworks' decline. I mean with a few exceptions of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, which by the way are over now, and the critically praised but poor financial suceesses like Captain Underpants and Rise of the Guardians everything else the studio made are just garbage! I mean seriously, the Boss Baby was inches to be as as bad as Shark Tale. Shrek basically taught Dreamworks that in order to be succesfull, they don't need a well written story and three dimensional characters. All they had to do was to include to their movies cheap , party numbers and pop culture references
*_I never realized Shrek really had a manga about his origins. Plus, I never knew he had laser vision._* Let's hope Shrek will defeat Ricardo using his new power.
I always thought someone from dreamworks saw my dad walking down the street and decided to draw him with antenna ears and painted him green all these years. I say this because he legit looks IDENTICAL to the shrek they drew! Same big nose brown eyes and face!
I actually read the book a while ago when I was in 6th grade, it was fun to see other kids reactions and faces when I showed them that specific part of the book
I just saw that on Wiki years ago. But I'm glad Dreamworks just took the characters instead of the story. Also, that could be worst if Illuminations Studio will bring THE STORY itself as well as the characters.
in a way, this story is a reverse beauty and the beast. in both stories, a damsel is forced to be in the company of a "beast" but eventually falls in love with said beast. however, the in beauty and the beast, the beast turns into a handsome prince, whereas in shrek, the princess turns into a "beast"
tho in Both cases the princess is the one that stays with the beast and accepts him . I would like to see a version of where the princess is the beast and the prince is the one who accepts her for who she is.
PDX_shoe cleaner Girl LOL, it is ironic you misspelled word in that sentence! And extra ironic it is the word “smartest!” Not being Grammar Police, just thought it was funny 😃😄😂😆
@@kagehikari4281 Yes, another Beautiful Watcher! CineFix also did a "What's the Difference?" about Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but it is such an interesting story I'd love to see Jon's video if he ever decided to do it.
MatPat did a film theory on why Donkey is counted as a fairytale character but he didn’t mention that there was an original storybook that inspired the movie. I had no idea that this book even existed which is why I’m glad you do these videos. I love hearing about all the fucked up stuff that inspired these stories and I learn something new in every video.
It reminds me of a book I had as a kid called “Awful Ogre’s Awful Day” which had a bunch of illustrated poems about all the awful things Awful Ogre does. Some things I remember specifically are using a cactus as a pillow, eating scream of wheat, and scaring townsfolk by dripping snot on them.
“Embracing what makes you different is what leads you to your destiny.” I don’t know where the hell you got that from, but I like it! That’s exactly how I try to live! I’ve been learning how to do it for quite a while, and if things go where I foresee them going, my differences are finally (after nearly 30 goddamn years) about to really pay off.
I remember reading the boo when I was a little kid and being really put off by the fact he actually said "jackass," and the really weird drawing style.
Funny, I had JUST clicked on another RU-vid video that just dropped from another on my list, and I immediately ditched the other video in favor or some JonSolo goodness...💖
'After he literally wipes his ass...' HAD ME WEAK!!!! I honestly think this original was one of the funniest on this channel. Props to William, and respect to you John. 👌
I remember being so disappointed reading the original book when i was little, since it didn’t resemble the movie as much as i expected to. I still read it multiple times tho🤷🏽♀️
I remember in the second grade back in 2001/2002 my teacher read us this story and the first movie came out around that time and she asked us what are the differences between the book and the movie
I remember reading the book with two of my friends. We were in like second grade and shocked when it said Jack Ass we told our teacher and she started laughing.
I finally found your channel again, now I can finally support and subscribe, like and share your channel Tho you did scare my little cousin with the messed up origins of goldy locks and the drug dealing bears
Hey Jon! I just discovered you recently and love your content! I gulped down all of your origins explained and while I knew about Krypt and their scary videos, I was even more hyped about getting to know everything about those as well! Keep It up my man and hope you stay well. I'm staying tuned for good!
Huh... Shrek the Musical opens with Shrek's parents kicking him out. I guess they went back to the book for the musical as well, to see what else they could use.
Don't know when or why this channel was recommended to me but I don't regret it! I find all of these videos interesting and engaging, it's nice to know the origin of my favourites!
The origin wasn’t messed up at all. It was quite happy with an extra silvery lining. Truly this subverted every expectation it possibly could! Even Jon’s video!
My friends sister name was Fiona, and when she tells people that, they're like "Oh, like the Ogre?" Anyway, loved the video. These videos are the highlights of my weeks.
Also the part where Shrek has that "horrible" dream of playing children around him, reminds me of the " terrifying" dream he had of ogre babies when he found out Pheona was pregnant .
