WOW! Why do people feel so compelled to leave such rude remarks? If you don’t like something just leave! Contrary to what you have been told everyone is NOT interested in your negative comments. Just leave quietly. Here is a lovely sweet woman helping others in a kindly manner. We appreciate her time and effort. THANK YOU, DEAR! 🌹
This is hands down the best messy bun I've seen!! 😍 I think you need to show someone with long hair how to do your messy bun and get them to post a tutorial because I have really long hair and none of the tutorials I've seen for long hair are anywhere near as good as yours ☹️😄
Your bad hair day is all of our's dream hair day! Great tutorial. I always do an underside dutch braid into a bun and it is getting a little old...I need to change up my go to bun! Thanks for the tutorial.
Newbie bunner here, when you do the very first thing in your hair, I don't know what you are doing, you say fold the hair over, but I'm not sure if you put the band round, and then I'm not sure what you do with the rest of ends of hair x
what serum do you use to smooth frizzy from sleeping? love your videos. I'm terrible at girly things no matter how hard I try. 🤣 the details really help me. thx!....I tried this "do" last night and it worked perfectly! The most volume I've had in a bun. Loved it, got compliments and loved the fact that I didn't have to worry if a hair was out of place! Thank you!
I can do an awesome messy bun. my problem us it falls throughout the day and I really don't feel like redoing in a public bathroom or at work . any tips to make it last longer besides hairspray?
Well... I've just realised I'm a super lazy girl then! I was looking for a lazy girl hair style and this is too much effort for me today haha! Damn it.
Same here. I've tried it step by step 6 times and instead of a messy bun, all I get is a mess. It looks great on her. But on me, it looks like I am recovering from a bad hangover!
You explained each step well except for when you pulled it up, you said "fold it over" but didn't explain what that meant and it was hard to see what you did..
Yes!! Thank you so much! I have similar hair to yours and I’ve always envied women who can do these effortless looking buns (usually out and about when they’ve got no mirror or products and it ends up looking like runway hair :-P) but following your video for the first time I’ve got a bun I feel happy leaving the house with 😆 Thanks, you rock!!
How do you comb out your hair after that much product? I love adding product to give my fine hair texture and grip, but it easily turns to a matted mess even when I baby it.
I didn't have time to wash my hair this morning and I was in a rush. I thought I had your instructions committed to memory but I could quote it the bun to look the way I wanted to. Thank go for the ability to review your videos again and again! Total hair saver!!
why do you take so long. like get to the point no need to take most of the video talking, we came to watch you do a hair video not give a whole L.A lesson
I can't believe how many people are bothered enough by this talk-through style of video. There are plenty of videos that will rush through and simply show the steps, if that's what you like, go watch that. I for one LOVE Kate's personality and life, and I watch her videos because I enjoy that style. If you don't like something, that's fine. But keep the rude comments to yourself please.
The problem with this method is that if you don't cut out the elastic taking it down tends to trash the ends. My hair is waist length so I treasure and protect my ends, maybe more than people who wear their hair short like you do. I find that a looped ponytail is kinder. Stretch the loop and pin it "randomly". Either wrap the ends mostly around the base before pinning or just twist and pin wherever if there is good bend in the hair.
@ladyflimflam I too have super long, non-layered, hair- down to my hips - and it's baby fine. I agree with you. I have to twist &/or keep wrapping it around in a circle (around the bun) & then bobby pin. My fav is when I tie my hair in a loose knot, pin it, pull it here & there, pin some more, & then sometimes I pin the ends in- sometimes I don't. I NEVER use elastics- only no-break coated bands. And I NEVER tease my hair!! Elastics & teasing is asking for breakage!! But guess it all comes down to knowing your hair... Have a good one everyone!!
I've been doing this messy bun since you made the video 8 years ago and it is my staple. I use a few different products and have tweaked it for my hair over the years with various styles I've had but it is the most versatile and forgiving thing that has been my saving grace on days I feel like I can't pull myself together as a mama struggling with depression and ptsd! I hope to make a collab video referencing this video soon when my bathroom looks cute but someone just asked me last night how I always have such cute messy buns and I was like - You know what? This video needs to be shared again. Resurfacing for genuine appreciation. Round of applause for you and your amazing hair tips! ❤❤❤
yeah I love all these tutorials but I just wish they'd stop talking so damn much and just get to the directions of how to do the damn phone because sometimes I just can't take it anymore and I switch out not just her but all these girls just love to hear themselves f****** talk and I just for stage stop telling me about their products and this is that just show us
First I want to say I love your messy bun!! Secondly for those of you who don’t want to hear all the talking about other things use your finger and fast forward until you see where she starts and watch from there and stop being so nasty. I watch a lot of videos about hair and makeup and most of the women talk (some more than others) and sometimes I don’t have time to listen to them but I’m thankful that they took the time to do the video to show me what I wanted to know. Sadly it seems the more people use these videos, social media so forth and so on the ruder we seem to be. Try to remember 2 things: 1st it’s a FREE tutorial for you (some of these people don’t make any money for sharing) and 2nd...if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything!! I’m fairly certain she has feelings too!! I’m sorry for going on and on but we need to stop being so negative about the simple things. Thanks again for your help with my hair!!
Hi Kate! Thank you for explaining the type of products you used. That's what I struggle with, not knowing which I need to use. How do you take out the elastic, with this style, without damaging the hair? 😀
Wow, that explains why no matter what I do, I can't do a messy bun :( I have thick silky, straight hair, which does not tease and it usually pretty long 😭
Taral P you can still do a really pretty messy bun, it just won't look like this one. If you do a low one then it will look super cute because you'll have the silky strands hanging out
I always fail in my messy buns, but never thought about putting hairspray/texture spray/dry shampoo in. My hair is naturally pretty smooth so my bun just never looks messy 😂
wtff... almost 8 minutes for a ban?.. i can do that in a minute.. its nice but.. it doesnt need to be that boring for a tutorial.. people who want to learn how to master the messy bun dont want to spend time ..
