I remember the thread on /v/ where it was claimed for the first time that Kaz was going to be vehemently racist in TPP, hence the game's theme of "race and revenge". Obviously it was a bunch of bullshit that no one took seriously, but considering where it was posted first, people made a concerning amount of memes out of it.

It's' probably common knowledge by now (since I'm aware of it lmao), but I wish more places talked about the headlock and first person camera in MGS2.

51 was cut along with okb zero assault being toned down to just you because it required you to be fighting through along with your fultoned troops you'd acquired. Xbox 360 and ps3 couldn't handle it. Konami didn't want to leave any sales on the table, so the ps3, ps4, xbox360, xbox one versions all had to have feature parity.

So the "eyes on kazuhira" thing is because in ground zeroes, it's still MGSV not mgs 5, and as such it's a similar thing to the twin snakes, in that it is venom re living the mission where big boss was incapacitated. We can tell because of how the missions are shown to the player (the surrogate for venom), photographs, and short descriptions of the mission objective, ocelot reveals in TPP that this is how he induced hypnogogiac memories into venom, we can also tell that kaz isnt talking to snake because how he talks about paz, "how could we have ever bought that cover story, a student of peace?" When kaz literaly told snake at the end of peace Walker he knew about paz being a double agent the whole time. We can also hear kaz talking on the mgsv ground zeroes tapes of skullface interacting with paz and chico. Pyhtonselkianhd has a good video about this on his channel

I also, wishfully, took “never be game over” to being Kojima possibly knowing his relationship with Konami was souring and future MGS games would be in doubt but that he’d eventually return to making new MGS games in the future. We can only hope.

that list is too casual for real veterans of the franchise i was expecting something else like the connections between the NES game and MGSV, the super metal gear rumour on the SNES, the metal gear D in phantom pain, more references to the MSX games, metal gear zero, samus and snake, etc.

I really think the Chico is Quiet theory would have been a psychologically dark twist that would have been better than what Quiet amounted to.

a few things worth adding include the guy who did all the motion capture for MGS2 went to jail for illegal weapon smuggling, the Metal Gear Solid mode in Ape Escape 3 which may include the final time they got to use the MGS theme, Kojima used Lego to stage out level layouts for MGS1, the hidden teaser image of Metal Gear ray for 100% completing MGS: the VR missions, during the E3 reveal of MGS3 Kojima tried to trick game journalists into thinking snake traveled back in time but a (not very well) hidden message in the booth pamphlets spelled out BIGBOSS, and the weapons of MGS1 were chosen purely because of how blocky they looked.

Hi, resident Metal Gear Solid V understander here: -Mission 51 is totally a meta-narrative. It was never meant to be part of the full game. The reason why is complicated. If you want verification, see the phrase Paz repeats: "Peace Day never came." [MGSV: TPP's story was more or less locked in place by 2012-13, according to most information from interviews after the fact. There was no time crunch for writing.] -Chico didn't die in the chopper. That's more misinformation. (Chico has a big role in TPP, but it's a secret.) The Chico = Quiet theory might have even been a red herring to help distract. -Code Talker says "Eyes on Kazuhira" because that's not the real Kazuhira, it's more accurate to say it's a parasite copy of the real Kaz. Notice Kaz has this floating white dust all around him all throughout TPP when he's not outdoors. That white dust is the "dandruff" the parasite therapy causes people to shed. So you also see it in the air around Quiet, Code Talker, Skull Face, and a few others, including Venom himself. The big one to not miss is Paz also has this dust. -MGSV and 5 are indeed two different ideas. "Metal Gear Solid 5" is 5 games: Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain, Survive, and P.T. (or the HD collection that released around that time if you're really picky). Metal Gear Solid V only includes GZ and TPP formally, but I also think of Peace Walker as being a "stealth V" game, due to the use of the V hand sign used all over that game. -Death Stranding connections go way beyond what you mention here, but yeah. -Never Be Game Over

If metal gear solid ever gets a "MGS 6" entry, I will judge it when it comes out. The series has enough pieces in place as is to make some compelling stories. As funny as it is to joke, I don't think it's fair to judge a product before it exists, (Though in that eventuality, I would not *wager* on it being good.)

Which got me to thinking "I bet there's a hidden meaning in this game," and so I documented my, uh, oxygen deprived ramblings, live, into a journal. Which ended up being over 150 pages.
