This makes much more sense if you first read The Mystery of the Cathedrals by Fulcanelli. He seems to be saying the church it's self holds the secrets of the alchemical eukarist, but the priests just go through a symbolic ritual. And the church being a larger scale replica of the furnace and the process he would have thought it did it's work on the reverend inside all the timer. Then your part 2 where he is angry that after regulating his furnace for a whole year straight he messed up and allowed it to dry out ruining it and if he would of caught it in time he would have wet it with his tears. A pun because he screwed up the early salt and water part.
Oooo that's great. I graduated graduate school majoring English literature in Korea. And I want to study George Herbert more. But in korea there arent any professors who can teach 17th century poetry and George herbert. Where is the university?
