I love just how in most metaverse projects they present us SO DOWN-TO-EARTH concepts. Like they want to copy real life 1:1. It's virtual. You literally can jump on asteroids or pet dinosaurs. Instead they give us trip around boring empty house with white walls, IKEA's chairs and flatscreen TVs.
It's as if the people or companies making these VR metaverses have no creativity and completely misunderstand or don't care what people actually want from VR and only care about bleeding your wallet of every atom of money possible
Yeah. The only "game" that would actually grab my interest if I was an idiot is Star Atlas as they done this expansive space sci-fi artstyle really well. That´s also the only thing that they did well..
idk if i can feel bad for the people that fall for this shit. it feels like we're devolving. it's basically VRChat + Second Life with better promotion. normies seeing this kind of thing for the first time and thinking it's something new and special. whole meta (insert whatever) is goofy as hell.
Imagine sitting down in your imaginary meta mansion, switching on the telly and watching "Dancing with the Stars". And feel good about yourself, cause you have your awesome mansion with the awesome NFT cars in the virutal garage. While in reality you rot away in a bedsit in Birmingham-Highgate. Are you ready, player one?
That actually sounds amazing. Put everyone's brain in a vat and everyone will be rich in the true metaverse. Because of infinite land, everyone will have a massive mansion and whatever car they want. You can teleport anywhere for free and you don't need to work because robots do everything in the real world to keep the metaverse running.
I'm reminded of a cartoon I saw years ago where a D&D adventuring group is sitting at a table with dice and screens playing Cubicles and Deadlines or something like that. Seriously, if I want a metaverse, real life isn't what I want from it.
Please join our Metascam. Also this is 100% completely an asset flip. You can’t convince me not a single thing in the video was made by whatever company supposedly made it.
Yeah I recognize nearly all of this from assets that were given away for free at various points on the Unreal Marketplace. (Apart obviously from the games that they just don't have any rights to at all.)
This is going off on a tangent, but media really cherry picks the coolest words from science. What about the lame/cute scientific terminology!? Someone needs to name a whole squad of super heroes after quarks: up, down, strange, charmed, top, bottom and doc XD
Love how they always include the depressing piano music that gradually becomes more optimistic and upbeat as the video goes on as if you found light at the end of the tunnel
People are trying to make a high resolution version of VRChat and call it the metaverse. All these projects feel like a joke to me until we can actually jack in.
When you think about it, the virtual world of MegaMan Battle Network was a metaverse, wasn't it? Wait... oh god. Does that mean the cards in those games were like NFTs? Shit, it's only a matter of time until someone just copy-pastes Battle Network's gameplay and stuffs it full of NFT nonsense.
More like a blander version of VRChat. VRChat is full of interesting avatars, varied props and unique spaces. But all these metaverse projects are full of bland rich people stuff - modern houses, beaches, expensive vehicles and similar stuff sprung right out of the mind of an investor bro with no imagination or inner life.
My opinion on the Metaverse is, can I play the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass in it? No? Then I'm not interested. I'm too invested in other fictional worlds to live completely in just one company's metaverse. I'm too used to dipping in and out of multiple virtual worlds to lock myself into just one.
Man that interactive home in the beginning looked so very interactive. I love all the examples of interactions they showed. Nothing is more disappointing than a game where the environment is just static meshes you can't do anything with.
I already have access to a massive shared world with shops in it. The level of detail is amazing. It's so advanced you can feel and smell things as well as see and hear them. All its systems are completely integrated, and membership is completely free. You can listen to music, play sports, have sex, everything. It's called "Earth".
I think the dumbest thing about metaverses is the introduction of means of transportation and limited space "land" It's virtual, it's not real, there is NO NEED to have those things Putting IRL *problems* into a metaverse is dumb as fuck
I can't stop repeating that all this has been done before with Worlds, Active Worlds, Second Life, Entropia Universe and probably more I don't know about. But it is a good point that the problem with this kind of thing is that its hard to escape your broke terrible real world when it costs lots of money to do anything in the metaverse world too. For example if you want to live out your star trek space captain fantasy or whatever in Entropia Universe you'll be dropping a cool 10k actual dollars for a big ship to do that, and then even more money to maintain and fuel it and defend it every day. Or you could play any other space sim and do that for just the box price of the game... yeah.
As true as that kind of is. You at some point will probably benefit from having real money. The trade off, especially with Secondlife is that you can make money in game. You can get hired in game or sell things if you have skills. Theres other free ways to make money, literally. But the biggest thing is that you have a universal inventory and you can have whatever avatar that you want that is not limited at all by the developers vision. Like cyberpunk 2077 for example. You cant be a dragon in cyberpunk, you cant even be a cyborg in cyberpunk. The universal inventory system, the limitless customization, combined with the fact that in the same game you can do wildly different things under the same account, without switching games. Because everything is user generated, some people make really good things, Like before final fantasy remake the only way to see a modern day representation of midgar was through secondlife.
@@Arunnejiro I think Secondlife escapes the money problem a little because players can free/cheaply make their own content if they don't want to pay for something. And there's no real game element, not really. The more game-ified alternatives don't let players just make whatever they want, and instead opt to charge obscene amounts of money for everything.
@@dubbleawesome3982 In my experience I wouldnt say that the game like elements of Secondlife are unescesariliy expensive. A long time ago when I began playing I didnt have any money. One of the most expensive things were combat samurai Island where its weapons were around 1kL each. I earned all of the money for it in game. But thats beside the point. I dont fault people for charging for things that they spent a lot of time making. The real unfortunate thing about secondlife is the unsustainability of land costs. A lot of people use these sales to keep their sim open too. Its unfortunate how many CSI weapons and different things are lost to time when the sim shut down.
Essentially this is a Kickstarter for a super-advanced MMO, bringing in pretty much all aspects of real life, plus all aspects of online life in an environment where you can literally do anything. Seems like a sure-fire win, a really simple thing to develop, not something that would challenge the largest and most capable developers on the planet. The fact that it's a Kickstarter project for something so massively complex is a certain sign that it's going to fail. The amount of money needed to hire the developers who would stand a chance of delivering even half or a tenth of the scope is far beyond anything Kickstarter will ever deliver.
knowing the "Game development" focus in sydney australia, his experience he has mentioned probally means his team are a casino / gambling gaming company
This meta shit really gives off some sinister and uncanny vibes. It looks like some psy-op. Who is attracted to this shit? This is literally "GET EXCITED TO LIVE IN VIRTUAL WORLD GOIM" campaign.
"Meta" is the new "HD". Remember in 2005-2006 when 720p and 1080p were pretty new and fucking everything had "HD" in its description, even if it wasn't technology, because it was just a buzzword?
Oh just looked into it their not a registered company from what I could find. Also didn't know if you noticed this is their second campaign you can still access their previous failed kickstater from 2020 on their creator page. I don't know why but I can't shake the feeling this being something Tanner would do. I'll keep looking. fantastic content as always.
what pisses me off the most about these is that they take hard work of talented people working on actual game changing technologies (like ue5) and using it to promote their disgusting scam
Everytime one of these crappy meta scam projects come up it makes me wanna play secondlife or worlds or VR chat the reason why those games work is they never try to over promise and actually work I can make things and put them in the game can even get paid in the one. And all of them are free to play. How comes chat programs do more then any meta projects going on current year.
@@elinya4232 it's something like a precursor to secondlife mostly it's trippy and a game that some how is still active and came out in 1994 think secondlife but ps1 graphics.
@@Danielsensenig nexpo did a videoon. Worlds I believe it was is there a cult in an online video game. Was fun back in 94 that game would have been awesome. I play second life rarely I used to have a lot of people I hung out with on it but not so much anymore. It's still fun to create avis in though
2:20 "I wouldn't play FIFA in this fucking world, let alone in MetaWorld" so dead on. they expect people to get excited for the possibility of doing the same shity things from this world but in virtual realm! a good metaverse is basically a highly interactive game with photorealistic graphics and immersive gameplay.
The start of that guy's bio is bringing back flashbacks from those free cv templates. I know I've seen that format and structure before, I'm pretty sure he just took a free cv and filled it in.
I've always wanted a metaverse, but never like this. We use the Internet, and gaming especially, as a way to escape the realities of scams, yet here they are, trying to bring real world scams into our escapes just to torment us more. People should be allowed to have literally one place, JUST ONE, where they don't get constantly scammed and abused. That's why most people use Adblock on here, because the constant ads are scam garbage. It'd be one thing if RU-vidrs could actually choose what their viewers see, but that doesn't happen unfortunately. It's all so predatory and annoying, and companies keep trying to push for more and more scams everywhere
Its like they took everything that has the word Meta in it and merged it to a one stop shop and if you want to look at nature or shop or whatever shut you computer off and go outside it is a strange concept but try it
My VR worlds are Skyrim vanilla CC and Warframe... Both go the same way of Zen. Chase nor desire, just grow where the fun is.. where the magic happens.. time lost in laughter n love..
Putting aside the fact that you point out - that this is a collection of other products and services - I wouldn't be so pessimistic about "not going to the mall in real life but going in metaworld". Remeber people spend hours sending their Sims to work and making them wash dishes. So I can see it totally that people who don't go outside would hang out in virtual mall.
I think there is a absolutely crucial reason why there arent games settled in our real life. Why would anybody want this? Realism and stuff cool but one wamts freedom in games and not more restriction.
@@dang.9209 Yeah but you dont live your life there. You live in a heavily artistic interpretation of what life would be like, from artstyle to your character and its version of "a life". Youre not restricted to your real income, its not regulated, its all fictive. You did something dumb? Reload. You want to do something different? New save point. You want to buy a fancy car? Use some grind, glitch or cheat. Want to do something the game didnt want you to? Use mods. Nothing has consequences, nothing has gatekeeping, nothing is restricted. You can do yours. Its not real life, nothing close to metaverse, just an artistic vision close to something like real life. But still just a "real life filter" over some heavily artistic influenced story.
Looks like the basically ripped every demo video and product demo videos they could find to convince people they're professionals making something, yet apparently they couldn't come up with a better product logo. LOL.
love all these meta projects coming out with all these "features" as if all this is new. as an avid user of VR I can say with certainty that all this stuff these things are trying to sell people is already being done by myself and the rest of the vr community for FREE. if you own a vr headset you already have access to all this stuff these people are trying to sell you for FREE. one does not need to be spending hundreds or thousands of dollars to drive a car in vr, or go to a concert in vr, make money making stuff in vr if you already have a headset. none of this is new... we've been doing this for years.
Speaking of meta TV in gaming. Back in 2007 in “Darkness” you could watch actual full movies inside the game. That probably blew people’s minds. 15 years later you can stream Netflix inside a “game”. There are probably fridges in the real world that can stream Netflix as well. How are we supposed to be excited about a GUI for our everyday life?
The MetaHumans thing is made made by epic games for Unreal Engine; i.e. avatars they got off the internet for free. It's not even at full release yet, MetaHumans is early access. UE5 is also early access with no confirmed release date, they've advised anyone making real projects to continue with UE4.26/4.27 for now.
4:03 Am I trippin or have I seen that main street/town center in a Bigfry video covering an asset flip? With the blue awnings, umbrellas, and sandwich boards in front of shops.
They sound like they're some sort of Metapokémon talking about Meta-this and Meta-that and Meta-Meta Metagross. One should invent a poképall so I can catch myself a Metacrytobro.
Some comments pointed out how this is so bland and basically real life 2.0. But that's the point of these scams, it's selling the dream of a good life for those struggling. If your life is ok the metaverse would only be funny if it had extreme scenarios in it (ride a dinosaur, be a viking raider, etc). But those people most likely have a reason to go back to their lives, if you're poor or can't see a way out, you'll be most likely to go all in and buy in first. That's how most pyramid and get rich quick schemes work, they sell you a simple dream: riches and comfort. No need to sell you on the adventurous life style, some people just want paid bills and some luxury (or a lot).
This metaverse is so good you can do the same things you can do in real life! Like going around in your house, phonecall your friends or play video games! Whoa! Almost like it's completely useless!
The thing that makes me laugh outloud is the fact that there is no 'sweatyverse' there's merely lots of different small version's of vr none of which can even connect, and that's what it is VR not metaverse in the sense that they try to scam you into believing in.
I can't wait to sit down at my MetaComputer in my MetaApartment in MetaWorld and invest in MetaCrypto and buy MetaNFTs. Maybe some MetaGenius will even create a MetaMetaverse so I can live there instead of my real MetaLife where I have to worry about my MetaJob and MetaBills. Jesus MetaChrist, I'm getting a MetaHeadache from all this MetaShit.
I got a shitty meta-whatever advertisement for this very video about some walking mech things. Was just a dude in sunglasses talking in front of a bookshelf and some obligatory video/sideshow of graphics assets
I have a health condition, so I woulnd't really go to crowded places when the pandemic waves are high, so after 2 years maybe a VR solution to meet other people could mitigate the psychological strain that causes. But I'm not sure about a "metaverse." I don't want a world wide web with awkward 3D interface when I can just use my mouse to click around.
As a developer for SecondLife, all this metaverse stuff is old news to me, and it's crazy how awful they all are in comparison. While SL is a depraved place full of degenerates, that's what happens when the company running it lets you genuinely create the world and experiences in it with hands off. No scams, no bullshit. I already make a living as a 3D artist there. This stuff has existed for decades in far better form.
Everywhere is full of degenerates. The full freedom allows for some of the coolest things Ive seen in Secondlife. I dont really see that as a problem. For the most part you have the choice to consume the content you want, and many different places have rules that typically get followed. What bothers me is that no one has made anything better than secondlife. Secondlife is really great, but its held back by its 2003 Engine. The basic movement, how third person mode you have to hold the mouse to change the camera, How guns work, I could go on.If lindenlabs made secondlife in maybe 2010 it would probably be a lot better. I tried VR chat, what people rave about and is very restrictive in what you can actually do, you cant even jump, maybe you can call it a poor mans secondlife with VR.
That Justin Bieber thing was actually a concert hosed by Wave, a company that specialises in virtual concerts. I highly doubt that any of the things they are showing are things they actually own.
