I always loved the Meteorbs as a kid. I only had (and still own) Orbear & Tuskor and they would move between hanging out in my bag of Rock Lords and my box of MotU toys. Whenever they were with my MotU figures, Stondar and Rokkon were right there with them. Dan those new Bandai ones look insanely awesome. If Mattel licensed the molds and put them into Origins as Astro-Lion and Dinosorb colors I'd buy them in a heart beat.

Well, I have never heard of these before so I assumed it came out at the end of the line when I had moved on, BUT, nope, 1986 was in the sweet spot of my fandom. I still don't recall these and I considered myself a well-versed collector. I do vaguely recognize the red cat one which I'm sure was on the cartoon but that's it. Thanks for educating us about them! But I'll leave these to the hard core collectors, except for maybe the red cat one.

FINALLY, a comprehensive video about these guys! Was working on gathering up research and building up my collection of these figs to just go ahead and make a video about this line and its history myself, but here you are doing just that! So glad there's finally a good video I can point people towards regarding this line, and I'm intrigued by the fact that someone else came across KO's of these in a store with educational toys, too. I've dug up a smiiiidge of info about why that may be, but the company/companies involved and timing of it are still rather vague. Also, fun fact, Bandai had another line/possible subline of Tamagoras called "Egg Monster" in a few parts of the world that featured Universal-style classic movie monsters, and there were Tamagoras figs for some Ultraman, Gamera, and Godzilla kaiju too! My favorite release of this line I've found so far has to be one of the releases from Latin America, which came with little keshi-esque minifigures in-package as an accessory/companion figure! Gosh, this line is absolutely crazy, and I find it so fascinating that us in the states only got to know them through MOTU and knockoffs. Such a crazy story overall. Regardless, thanks a ton for putting this video out there! I'm so glad to find out I'm not the only one hunting this line and its history down out there. Cheers!

I’ve seen lots of MOTU fans talk about He-man through the years and I’ve never heard of this part of the line until now. I guess this part of the line is that obscure to most. It’s interesting to see that their still a thing through bootlegs and in Japan though. As you said in this video, the new ones are practically the closest things we got to a Classics Metiorbs line. Well this was interesting to see.

Meteorbs felt like - and still look like, a failed Mattel transformers like toy line idea that they simply shoved under the MOTU branding in the US to make some bucks. Curious how well that worked out sales figure wise, as I kid I really rejected these things as MOTU for some reason. On their own, they are kinda cool!

I've seen the egg transformers released by bandai based on Godzilla, Pixar, Ultraman and others, they are not only well made but the transformation is actually very cool and some of the figures look completely different once transformed that is hard to believe it was an egg, I think that if the Meteorbs were like this, they would had been more popular.

@@Beedo_Sookcool Because some people only like the years before they grew out of it, like Transformers fans who only like the 1st and 2nd years...maybe 3rd. GI JOE fans who don't care about anything after 1986. It varies by person, but often when either they got too old or the cartoons ended, they stopped caring. So most things added after that point seem out of place based on their nostalgic memories of how it was.

hm. "No Classics complete line without the Meteorbs?" True. But we ve got well over 200 figures. Thats a ton. What we did not get , is things like Dragon walker , Mantisaur , Attack track , Fright zone , Roadripper, etc etc etc. Those things to me , are way more essential to have a "more complete" line. I think the missing castles and vehicles leave a way bigger hole in my Classics collection then only missing the Meteorbs as far as figures go. Most factions have around or over 30 figures allready. The horde for example , doesn't even have one vehicle.
@Rocket1377
@Rocket1377 3 года назад
I don't even consider the Meteorbs to be action figures. They are more like beasts. Plus the same toys exist in a completely separate toyline as well, so they aren't even exclusive to MOTU. They weren't even created by Mattel.
@stevenbrickafol3928
@stevenbrickafol3928 3 года назад
@@Rocket1377 True. Even more reason to prioritize the lacking castles and vehicles . I would nt ask for everything. but a couple of essentials could make for a more balnced out display. Give us Mantisaur , so Hordak at least has his ride. One or two more vehicles to even out the Evil warriors" vehicle amount to the heroic warriors...stuff like that.

Just remembered *another* evil warrior - Jitsu - he only made one appearance, in ‘the Dragon Invasion’, is never named onscreen (not even as ‘Chopper’) and only says one line; this is to do with how he was Oriental (East Asian), and Mattel having fears that he would offend people of that race (again, just emphasising how there were a good bit of the figure-based characters who were left out of the cartoon). There has never been evidence to prove that he is Fisto’s arch foe. Oh, and who wishes (of the heroic warriors) Queen Marlena, Lizard-Man, and (evil warriors) Strongarm, Fang-Man (the same identity / alter ego of Kobra Khan - the first member of the Snake Men), Icer, Count Marzo and (from the 1987 live action He-Man feature movie ‘Motion picture’) Karg, had Mattel figures made of them?

If I may play devil's advocate here, it could be argued that the Meteorbs are beasts rather than figures. When Mattel says we got the complete vintage line in Classics they are only referring to figures. That includes variants, but not beasts as we obviously did not get all the beasts or vehicles. Again though that's just a me guessing a possible explanation of Mattel's stance on it. Personally I would've liked to get the Meterorbs, (and other beasts like Mantisaur and Tyrantisaurus Rex!) and would've been okay without the variants.
