The Montreal Metro (French: Métro de Montréal) is a rubber-tired underground rapid transit system serving Greater Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Metro, operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), was inaugurated on October 14, 1966, during the tenure of Mayor Jean Drapeau.
It has expanded since its opening from 22 stations on two lines to 68 stations on four lines totalling 69.2 kilometres (43.0 mi) in length, serving the north, east and centre of the Island of Montreal with connections to Longueuil, via the Yellow Line, and Laval, via the Orange Line. ~wikipedia

Impressive system. I believe this is the first rubber tired system in North America. Thanks Tim😀💙

@@robertcartwright4374 The Mexico City 🇲🇽 metro also uses pneumatic tires for their system. Modeled after the Paris and Montreal Metro systems.

Hopefully you will return to Montreal in a couple months when the first segment of the REM will be in operation.

I'm a Bostonian now living in Montreal. I used to watch your older MBTA videos a lot when I was a kid, so it's really fun to see you've also made it to the Montreal Metro. It's a really neat system, especially the orange and green lines

How does living in Montreal compare to living in Boston?
@TheRandCrews

@@apluto12-z3e at least the STM Metros aren’t as slow or bad as the MBTA Subway lines nor have weird Subway streetcars

I get that. And STM looks more modern and cleaner than MBTA

I used to live in Boston with my partner and we took a trip up to Montreal. The MBTA simply cannot compare with the STM (back then when we visited it was STCUM---I bet the transit authority changed the name because people were making rude jokes about it!). The MBTA: old, loud, filthy and dingy; also high maintenance. The STM: new, quiet, clean, awesome, and fabulous! Only WMATA in the DC tri-state area, BART, and the LA Metro subway (not light rail) can compare if and when they keep the systems clean, the trains frequent, and the stations and trains free of crime.

On est chanceux d'avoir ce métro à Montréal. Dans l'ensemble, le système est beau, propre et sécuritaire, surtout si on le compare avec d'autres réseaux en Amérique du Nord! Merci.

Translation for English people (using google translate lol): We are lucky to have this metro in Montreal. Overall the system is beautiful, clean and safe, especially when compared to other networks in North America! Thanks.

Mayor Drapeau had his critics but he also brought us l'Expo Soixante-Sept,,,a truly memorable fair!

Similarly, Expo 86 had a major impact on the infrastructure of Vancouver and we probably wouldn't have the SkyTrain otherwise.
