"Tolkien-inspired" assumably British Psych Pop Record. Possible a Private Press from the mid to late 60s. Please leave any information you may have in the comments below about this rare gem.
This is really good music, perfect folky pop-psych. My suspicion is it was recorded by the uploader, but unfortunately they are unable to release it properly as the poems are still in copyright. Here's a tracklisting I believe is accurate. 0:00 The Adventures of Tom Bombadil 4:07 The Oliphaunt 5:13 Errantry 7:28 Princess Mee 11:46 There Is An Inn, A Merry Old Inn 16:08 The Sea-Bell (Frodo's Dreme) 19:55 Cat 21:21 Perry-the-Winkle 23:32 The Mewlips 25:42 Song of Beren and Lúthien 27:20 Fastitocalon 30:05 The Stone Troll 31:44 Shadow-Bride 33:56 The Last Ship 38:18 The Man in the Moon Came Down Too Soon 40:28 The Hoard
Great music but it's not an obscure album by the mysterious "the Mewlips". Nor is it the official LOTR songs album as someone suggested. It's either the work of the OP himself (whose channel states he's a freelance artist) or It's AI generated, though that seems less likely to me, considering how realistic it sounds. For sure, that one's not a real LP cover. I did a quick reverse search and it turned out to be the cover of an old edition of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil book. So it was cropped, stretched and given a fake "promotional copy" sticker.
Thank you . Doing the same research as you, I am glad with your findings. The whole thing is quite intruiging, because of its quality. I also thought of the possibillity that it has been created by AI, and I would be amazed (and a bit disappointed as well) if something so amazing can be created with hardly any human input.
I'm very impressed with the artistry in this, very period accurate sound! Lots of comments on here trying to drag this for "tricking them" but I really appreciate the effort it takes to make something this interesting yet very period accurate, will listen to the full album when I have the chance!
I can hear a healthy dose of Syd and Paul Roland too. Most music that tries to mimic 60s recordings sound off but this is very well done. If I was nitpicking I'd say it just needs a sprinkling of mellotron to be perfect.
194 / 5 000 I don't agree, it's completely original music, the contribution of (unfortunately) unknown musicians to the spectrum of this world's music, which we should remember and commemorate...does anyone know the year this LP was recorded?
@@wolfgang757 but what do you mean its a scam??? is it fake? or what? I'm so confused, it just makes me more interested in knowing who the real artist behind this is
Look up an album posted by xiva Loren called 'aurora" by los duendes... sounds like the same group...couldn't find anything on that group either...weird.
FAKE UPLOAD!!! There is no such album and there is no such group, "Mewlips" is the title of the second song not the performer. This is the Tolkien album of songs of Middle Earth and that is not the cover and it is not unknown, it is not rare and not a private pressing.HORRIBLE SCAM.
Lol nice try, this is not from the "mid to late 60s" is it? Nor is it any "lost British Psych Pop" lp found in Cinci. That said it's well done. The Dukes would be proud.
