The Mexican Gov Sicario Torture Videos Are Scaring Drug Lords...
This is a whole new level of cartel violence.
This is a long-standing debate: can the government end cartel violence respecting the law or does the military have to play the drug lords’ dirty game?
After a video of the Mexican military surfaced on the web in May 2023, it seemed like they embraced the latter option.
This did not come without uproar. Mexico has had a corruption problem for a long time, and it’s precisely this that the cartels abused in order to become as powerful as the military itself.
The Jalisco New Generation Cartel took the fight to the next level, shooting down a military helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade.
Some say corruption must stop altogether so that cartels can cease to exist and the horror show can end.

I actually think it's time for the governments to stop treating the cartels like they are criminal organizations and start treating them like terrorist cells that need to be eradicated. No more arrests, no leniency.

I do agree with the soldiers. Criminals don't warrant decent treatment from soldiers. Cartels only understand violence, so that's what you give them until all of them are dead and gone. Problem solving with Tim. You're welcome. It may sound cruel, but it works.

These cartels aren't just street thugs, they have the wealth and power of transnational corporations. The corruption runs so deep that govt officials in both the federal and local level could be cartel members. They are deeply etched in society. That's the reason why they're hard to get rid of. The only way to get rid of them is if people just stop doing business and buying drugs.. which probably won't happen anytime soon.

@@ChainsawMan1989 Like torture, We don't do that in war, so I'd say it's too dark. "Everything is fair in war" doesn't apply to a handful of countries that follow the rules of war. I mean, we aren't talking about North Korea here which punishes a crime for 3 generations of the family, or the Taliban who tricks kids into getting close to their enemy and then blows them up. Either way, this is an expected outcome, but similar doesn't mean mirroring every action. With war also comes a constant question of morality and limits. Regardless of those, it is still unforgiving and there is always collateral, such is war.

US and Mexican militaries need to team up and go hog wild on the cartels. Use lessons learned in Afghanistan to better prosecute the war against the cartels. Then in the US there needs to be changes around how drugs are treated, heavily regulate drugs like we already do with marijuana and hopefully that will help keep fentanyl out of the equation as well as take away the financial base of the cartels.

No they aren’t. They just have some humanity and don’t want to be like the cartels. Decriminalizing drugs is the answer imo. Have govt. regulations, capitalism where competition is about price, not violence, and many, many more affordable drug rehab centers. If alcohol had not been decriminalized it would be amongst all the other illegal drugs today. Yet it is not so you don’t see violent cartels and gangs selling it. If people want to use drugs, let them, but there will be many consequences as there is with using drinking alcohol all the time. It will drive up healthcare costs, as does cigarettes, but in comparison to the cost of fighting against cartels, weapons, violence and death its overall less expensive than this never ending bloody war.
