Robert Radford was a fine English Bass singer who was very popular in the UK in the early nineteen hundreds before passing away in 1933 at just 58 years of age. Here he is singing “The Meynell Hunt” which he recorded for HMV one hundred & two years ago in 1922 . The recording is playing on one of my HMV 101 portable gramophones

Whilst designed with the new electrical recordings in mind, I find these 101's also perform very well on acoustic recordings. The richness of Radford's voice is beautifully reproduced here.

I would definitely agree with that Paul, as you say, acoustic recordings really do sound really good on a 101 !🙂
