Chill with that 99%. I can assure you there are a lot more people in the fandom who’re just normal human beings (That hopefully don’t use TikTok). At least 70% of the fandom are like this though I’ll be honest.
random japanese fan here who didn’t know a lot of people kept arguing about MHA fans till now i thought the fandom is pretty calm until i found the english fandom wtf is happening here (sorry if my english is bad)
We normal, sane people seriously do appreciate that. Much love. ❤ I really wish the fandom wasn't so disgustingly cursed. I can't even go into my geography class without being picked on about the fact that I am covered head to toe in My Hero merch, and it's because of the damn weird ass fandom giving My Hero a bad rep. I honestly think the fan base was the reason why deku changed so drastically starting with his vigilante arc I think horikoshi saw what the fandom had done to his mc and said “imma prove them wrong” by pushing his character away from the cutie cinnamon roll boi that he was towards a more hardened and serious person, and that applies to the rest of the story too
I might be wrong, but am pretty sure he also went "fvck you all,it's my story" when they started harassing him on ships And the funny thing is that deku×uraraka got more developed in the series after all the bs Horikoshi truly doesn't give a fvck

Lovely choice. I have to say that if these people were true "fans," they'd act like heroes. I don't think a hero or a true fan would cause absolute misery to the normal, sane corner of the fandom, give My Hero a bad rep, and therefore cause people to hate it because of their weird ass antics.
I remember I saw the fandom and was scarred for life when I first discovered MHA 😭 but I later managed to find a small discord server mostly dedicated to discussing the lore and theories of the manga, so I stuck with the manga mostly too and never really watched the anime (I like manga better in most scenarios as well) but I’m so glad I never stuck around to fall into the deep end of the fandom and can just enjoy the manga and ignore the fandom’s existence 😃

I left the fandom for a reason ☺️ The anime is good, the manga is a BANGER, some cosplays are AMAZING but the fandom? Burn it, trash it, delete it, just get rid of it. Without the fandom, I feel like MHA wouldn’t be so TRASHED ON by people. It’s sad because I’m such a big fan of it. The animation was AMAZING especially in the fights. But it just gets downhill. TikTok was a big part of making it dissed on so much but also because people in the fandom are.. mental. Some ships are good, like ochako x deku, but than there is DEKU X ALL MIGHT? UH.. HELP?? there are awesome edits, drawings, comics, makeup, but people literally KILLED it. I was the coffin. I can confirm. I don’t blame people for thinking it’s so bad, but it just gets worse and worse. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LEGEND, but people are being soft, and the fandom sucks. I’m embarrassed to have a toga, and a tsuyu cosplay. AND A BAKUGO ONE. I have MHA merch all over my room because I’m a big fan of it, and I LOVE this youtuber who does SUCH good voice impressions with his friends and plays horror games and it’s just so funny. But I get embarrassed when I watch it because of how people see it. I have so many shirts and pins and figures but I can barley wear them because of the FANDOM LIKE HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! And sending death threats to the creator? Really? I trash talk it myself Bc of the fandom. I’m an old fan, a veteran even. And it used to be SO GOOD. But it crashed and burned. I stopped watching the anime Bc I ran out of time and Bc it was so water downed. I don’t even know what to write anymore. This fandom is like a piece of IKEA furniture. You cant piece it together. It’s all over the place. Nothing MAKES SENSE.
Honestly.... that and the toxicity shippers is the reason why it's ruined. "NO, I DON'T LIKE YOUR SHIP. YOU WILL LIKE BAKUDEKU AND YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT" kind of vibe.

Japanese animation studio catering to the overseas TikTok fans and making the show less graphic is one of the dumbest take I’ve seen on the internet. Their main concern is Japanese tv guidelines. Plus, the MHA fan base in Japan is vastly different than the one in the West
yeah that was pretty dumb of him to say. Manga authors and anime producers barely listen to their japanese fans, so western fans definitely have 0 impact.

Visuals, yes. I'm not disagreeing that the visuals are maybe more tame but the overall themes are DARK throughout season 6. For me, it felt a lot less like a kid's show without all the U.A "student antics" and the fact that it was just... war. Very sombre and bleak tones that felt much more nuanced and sophisticated. The supporting cast was less prevalent, there was less filler - I liked it but if people watch for the main three and the class dynamic, I'd wager that they were disappointed, if anything. Spoilers ahead! ____ I'm also biased with my favourite characters but some scenes hit *hard*, too. I love Hawks, Dabi, and Aizawa (I'm a simp but also: they're complex and multifaceted and their origins hit home for me a little) and I was incredibly pained but satisfied with the shift in each of their arcs. They were fucking *dark.* BUT - I'm with you: the death threats over Endeavor are *insane.* What the hell? Imagine being so dense as to not understand that his "redemption" is *supposed* to be complicated and spark debate. The trauma Dabi endured, Hawks being Dabi's foil, the *grey* between black/white, hero/villain being a prevalent theme throughout the entire series. What do the fans even want? What would be a better outcome? "This guy is bad, end of story. Kill him. Be done with it"...? To be crystal clear: Endeavor was a piece-of-shit abuser; I hate him. But I also see how Horikoshi is *exploring* that, showing Endeavor's psyche, showing his good vs his bad. He's not forgiven in a flash; the pain he's enduring is justified and deserved to an extent... but there are WORSE people in that show that people would fight tooth and nail to see redeemed, to justify. "Dabi is a result of Endeavor, therefore Dabi - a victim - deserves redemption and Endeavor doesn't"...? No. Dabi *is* a murderous terrorist regardless of how he wound up that way; Endeavor *does* save people. Being able to explain and sympathise isn't enough to redeem Dabi, someone that continues to disregard collateral damage on his kamikaze venture. It's about the nuance, the accountability, the complex cycles of abuse and trying to break *out* of that ouroboros through growth, through repentance or acceptance, whether your redemption's attainable or not. The writing still holds up. I could (did) write an ESSAY, I swear to god. I know, I know: 🤓
As for the fandom: uuuuuuuggggghhhhh. I've found some beautiful fan art, some animatics are kinda fun... but other than that: burn it with fire. There has always been incredibly cringey perpetually online anime fans that take their love for the medium a little too far, but this right here takes the cake. Like my goodness, I get that you love a series, but don't let your love for it allow you to throw away your dignity. I can't imagine the wave of embarrassment that is going to rush over them when they look back at this moment in their lives in the future, kinda feel bad for them cuz u know its gonna suck. Self-induced trauma at its finest.
Well that too damn bad for them cause I don't feel sorry for them, they choose to do this cringe ass shit. They should have known by looking at themselves and realised that they are being cringe and anticlimactic

Murasaki: 16:54 Gege: Thank you, I'm going to kill off all their fav characters and put the Main Character in hell and ruin his life meanwhile the main Villain is still living Murasaki: T-That seems kinda harsh Gege: Too Bad
This is why I don’t associate with the fandom, I went to a convention to meet some of the English voice actors and the other people there who were there for the Q&A were so cringey (one girl asked Todoroki’s voice actor to say that he loved her and he reluctantly did). I don’t accept the “fandom” as the real fans, they’re just brain damaged, toxic, and potentially dangerous if the threats are to be believed.
Cosplayers did a majority of the damage, but I'd also like to point at all the channels that did my hero texts, I think they are responsible for how drastically the character's personalities were warped in the minds of the Fandom, If you don't know what I'm talking about, just look up my hero texts and just watch literally any video. You'll notice it almost instantly from how they talk. They took Mineta and turned his negative traits from a 6 to a 12 just so they can beat him up and not feel bad about it
11:10 as a girl im here to explain. Its about checking our pants if theres any visible blood but we usually only ask our best girl friends since yk its a bit embarrassing. So that part is actually true but ive never heared or seen someone ask a guy to do that.
You know this is perfectly well-timed because I've recently been getting into Mha and already at the beginning of season 3 of the anime. But thank God I made the right decision to not associate myself with the fandom and just separate the series from the fandom. But I can admit there are a couple of fans that are cool and chill that show their passion, and love for the series in normal and natural ways. Also, I'm enjoying the anime so far and it's been fun and enjoyable to say the least I can't wait for what's next for my watch through of the anime so far. Kohei Horikoshi really made something special, and incredible with its story, characters, action, fight scenes, storytelling, and what it means to be a true hero, and passing down something to a new generation. Only for the fandom to ruin it which causes the author for the series to finish and conclude the series soon enough because of the harassment he's been getting. And that really sucked. I'm so glad that I learned to avoid fandoms like the plague from my experience with the Voltron fandom. Their cringyness and toxicity almost rivals that of the MHA "fandom" and I get the feeling that that's where most of the MHA "fans" came from in the first place.
@@FemboyKaiSaku there's a big difference between cringe and mentally unwell. I agree most of the fandoms are cringe but the MHA fandom set a precedent with what it has done that's (in some cases) done more harm than good. Besides I ain't crying about it, like I said I just choose to avoid interacting with these people. If you have a problem with that mocking me about it won't change my opinion on it.
god… as someone who interacts with very few aspects of fandom spaces, this is why i dont tell people what i watch… i rlly have no idea how people perceive fandoms and every time i enjoy a series/get into it i just pray the fandom hasn’t presented itself horribly online. i used to think fans would reflect or at least absorb certain values of the content they consume but after many years of being on the internet i guess that’s just wishful thinking i hate hiding my interests and would genuinely love to talk to people about it, but its hard connecting over them when you can’t exactly put yourself out there without giving a bad name to yourself anymore?! its actually crazy, + the worst people in fandoms tend to be the most visible … i’d say in most fandoms a fair majority are just chilling without creating content/raging up a storm online lol it’s rather unfortunate
As someone working on a series myself I can't fathom the possibility of suffering the same kind of fans as Horikoshi. I would probably bawl my eyes out witnessing someone spilling menstrual blood on any of my characters. Edit: Thanks for that one like. And happy new year, guys.
It’s because of this that I (a former Homestuck) call MHA the anime successor to Homestuck, because it came right after that hell hole closed up and it had the same type of fanon cringe. It just sucks when people take great characters and stories and even great plot concepts (I love the quirks of MHA and what they can do to the story) and disregard them purely for “let’s make these UwU wholesome boys kiss”
It's understandable that you hate the fandom but letting it get to you that you can't watch a show? That makes no sense as you can apply that to any anime or series. You can watch a show but not be in the fandom

I only recently started watching MHA on Netflix (and had to find S6 elsewhere), and honestly really enjoyed the anime alot. I also had no idea what the Fandom was like, probably because I don't have Tiktok or follow anyone on social media in that sphere. I didn't think too much of the tone shift in the later seasons, but now with this perspective, I can see what you mean. It genuinely upsetting to learn about this tbh, especially hearing about the part where they told the author to off themself. I still want to at least finish the show, I've been keeping up with S7 so far, but damn I am keeping my distance to anything MHA related online...
I enjoy watching RU-vid shorts or browsing RU-vid in general when I don’t have any anime to watch, or when I'm looking for a new anime to explore. In the past, I've come across numerous videos where people spoke negatively about 'My Hero Academia.' I have a personal rule: I tend to avoid content that receives a lot of hate from viewers. However, three weeks ago, I decided to break that rule and give 'My Hero Academia' a chance. Now, I'm currently watching season 5 and am just one episode away from season 6. Interestingly, I'm not an avid TikTok user either, so I was blissfully unaware of the doings of the fandom. Have you heard about the ‘English’ or ‘Spanish’ trend? When you choose one, they say the first person to move is considered to be Gay. Well, a RU-vidr modified it slightly, stating that the first person to move likes ‘My Hero Academia.’ Those who were asked froze, showing their disdain for the show. The comments section was flooded with remarks such as 'the anime is trash,' and many agreed with this sentiment. I've noticed that characters or anime I like often end up being considered 'trashy' or 'mid-tier' by most people, so I am somewhat accustomed to that. It didn't faze me at all. Everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that. I tried to delve into the comments section to understand why there was so much hate for the anime, only to find that there were people who actually enjoyed the show but stopped watching due to the behavior of the fandom. This made me question what was happening. I looked into it further and came across a video. The fans’ actions, including their ships and death threats to the anime’s author, caught me off guard. But I hope people understand that the behavior of the fandom doesn’t necessarily reflect the quality of the anime itself and give the show the love it deserves. As for me, I’m proudly a ‘My Hero Academia’ fan. Don’t confuse me with those other folks. ROAD TO SEASON 6! 🍻 Oh, and sorry for the lengthy message I couldn’t resist sharing our similarities!
15:24 believe it or not the same shit happened in the jjk fandom but instead of a poster, it's a Gojo figurine. I found out by seeing an instagram reel talking about it 💀
as someone who gets periods, yes it is true that sometimes women ask other people to ‘check’ wether they’re bleeding through their pants (usually so they can change etc.)
I sorta doubt it and when it is asked, from what I have observed. It is normally in private, not public. Course then again, public shaming has been weaponized for the wrong reasons now..
The censorship I HIGLY doubt it has anything to do with dumb teenagers on TikTok, and western teens for that matter, Japanese studios barely care too much about overseas audience too much unless the money stops flowing. Primetime anime meant to be broadcast in TV are commonly toned down from the original manga, Attack on Titan is a great example. Frieda's titan severed head, the commander in chief of Paradis military killed on the floor guts spewing out, the most gory of injuries, all were obscured or covered by smoke. This isn't new either, Dragon Ball Z had plenty too, the deaths of the Cell Jrs and the family Babidi killed were toned down in the original anime too. And there's also DB Kai which was 10 years ago
As one of the people knowing MHA from its first anime days and mangas,I find it extremely depressing and upsetting how those people have ruined the series…I’m speechless but they need to see some therapists
