Totally, we never get attention, only the football team gets attention along with wrestling which made states this year and cheerleading which makes nationals every year
Andrew Harmon Oh no I completely agree with that. 2014 was the last good year for bd. Ghostlight made no sense to me whatsoever, I was confused the whole time. The coats had a very intricate and visually appealing show, music was outstanding also.
I'm part of the CMU marching band, and when we did a thing for high school students, they're reactions reminded me why I do this. We do it for kids like him.
This kid should start a movement for major networks to start showing the bands during half-time of college football games. I remember when I was that little they always did; and had sports commentators tell you what they were playing and stuff like that. That is literally how I discovered college music programs like the ones at Michigan, Illinois, Ohio or Indiana because they used to showcase the programs university as a whole. I guess corporate greed got in the way and ruined that for the future generations to come. Sad.
Or if not showing it on the network show it on their online channels. Give fans the choice online, watch the studio halftime show or stay with the camera at stadium.
This is one of the BEST GO BLUE, stories I’ve seen. I also love that it highlights the marching band not just Entertainment or part of the campus spirit group but as Ambassadors for the school!
Jeanne no you’re right, “old” is a mindset not an age. I think it’s just because 9 years seems like such a ways away and there’s so much unknown, it sometimes has me feeling like “how much more life is there?”.
I love how much a kid could love marching band! I wish my school could appreciate music. Most of them hate the marching band but it is truly my safe place.
Leah: so glad to hear you find solace and peace with your marching band partners. Marching bands have always accepted everyone without restrictions. Music is truly a gift to us all.
Very touching story, made me cry twice. One for the actual story, and another because Michigan plays the same fight song as my high school, and I am a senior so just reminded me how much I'll miss it.
I'm Soo Happy for Him!!He's Got a Real Good Start,He played them drums,EXCELLENT!! He's Got it,He WILL Make It There!!❤️👍👍🏆🥇🥁🎹🎉😃GO BLUE!!🎺🎺🎷🎷🎸🥁🥁AND MAY MARCHING BANDS,LIVE ON!!!👍👍❤️😁🏆LETS GO BLUE!!!🎺🎺🎷🎷🥁🥁👍👍😃
I love seeing this because the MMB is my dream as well. It makes me feel even better that I'll be a senior when he joins, and I would be so honored to play with him. Go Blue!
As a marching band kid, it makes me happy to see kids exited to be in the marching band instead of the football team. To us, it means much more than you’d think
I too had the same dream when I was his age. That's why I took up the trombone in grade school. Unfortunately, my dream never came true - but I did get to play with my high school marching band on the field at "The Big House".... and that was good enough for me. GO BLUE!!
People, especially people from the U.S., can be so generous if they have the means to do so. The Michigan State marching band is helping Henry to "create the future" (did you see his shirt). There is a culture of ungenerosity, scapegoatism (is that a word?), and negativity in the U.S. these days, but there are still people here like this boy and the people in this band that can overcome that pessimism. We are still good people, and we will always continue to be.
