Louis Rossmann Hello, I write from Argentina, sorry for my English. I have a question, I want to buy a microscope and I want your recommendation on SM-4TPZ (3.5x 90x) or SM-4NTP (7x 45x)?
@MandangoGC
@MandangoGC 7 лет назад
Both are the same, the difference is SM-4TPZ has included 2 auxiliary lens (pair 0.5x + pair 2.0x). 7x X 0.5x = 3.5x, 45x X 2x = 90x. The end is to get double working distance or double magnification. Anyway you can buy later on sepparately if you need any of them.

These RU-vid fucks recently added a warning message to your links in the content section saying the link is dangerous and may contain maleware. They really want to fuck the people that make their site great. Keep up the good work man. I will be buying a hot air solder from you soon, and some flux. By January. I am an IT admin, and I would really rather be doing repair. Wish me luck! You have helped inspire me to start my own business. I used to work at a mom and pop store, and I loved it. I just wasn’t paid enough back then. Now the owner offered to send me customers if I can prove myself.

Just some information, that I receive from Amscope, for those who are looking to purchase one of these microscopes. The SM portion of the SKU provide the overall product family. The 3 or 4 determines which stand the microscope is on (3 is single bar, 4 is double bar). T stands for trinocular, meaning the microscope has a photo tube. P is for simulfocal, meaning both eyepieces and camera can all be used at the same time (microscopes without that option have to select between the left eyepiece tube or the photo tube). N stands for the style of the microscope head, meaning that the style of the microscope head is slightly different (namely, diopter adjustment on the eyepieces rather than the eyepiece tubes, and a screw style photo tube vs the sliding style photo tube). X is the barlow lens included (X includes a 0.5X barlow lens).

It is the combination of the articulating stand and the fact that my shop is in a 150 year old building with a floor that bounces like a diving board. When I am doing videos with people walking around it will bounce around. I love that articulating stand though, you can easily move it up or down to accomodate working on a board that is held in an omnivise vs just down on the table. Lots of people hate it. The boom stand takes up a lot more space on the bench in my opinion.

I concur with your preference for the boom stand. If I want something fancier that's what stepper motors are for. My questions: What res is the camera/screen combo? Soldering: Low temp leaded, or high temp unleaded? What heat gun to do you recommend that can get all the legs of an LSI disconnected without cooking the chip?

If I ever get serious about board repair I guess I should get a proper microscope too, at the moment I do it the DIY way, using my camera, an 18-55 lens and a reverse lens adapter so that I can mount the lens on the camera in reverse. (I already had the camera and lens). I use an HDMI cable from the camera to my monitor and that works great for magnification. It's far from perfect, but it gets the job done for the occasional close up view of a board or component.

Maybe the easily movable one could be made with like a 'lock' button on the base or somewhere, where internal parts would firm up when it was toggled, and release...

Hi Louis, What would you recommend AmScope SM-4TP (7x - 45x) working distance 4" or AmScope SM-4TZ (3.5x - 90x) working distance 8" I want to get what you suggest but SM-4TZ just seems better in terms of specs and also the working distance. Please give us your opinion. Much appreciated!

When you zoom in and out the focus should not be effected. That may be the microscope is not properly adjusted of a flaw of that Chinese microscope. Used name brand microscope has about 4inch work distance without 0.5x auxiliary lens. Attaching it to articulating Vesa mount makes it a much better setup for electronic work than any microscopes from Amazon.

mantis is absolute garbage for what I do. I don't care how good the microscope itself is, 1) the camera is trash 2) you cannot retrofit a better camera 3) they have no interest, for any amount of money, in offering a better camera.
@girder123

Damn, i wish i would have come across this video 2 weeks ago before i ordered my microscope. Then one i ordered doesn't let me have both eyes while using the camera. It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING when people wanna see what im doing or i want to show someone something i lose the use of my left eye when i wanna use the camera. So NOW i am going to have to purchase another microscope, wait til that gets here, hopefully use that box and packaging to return my original one. But who knows. I might just end up being stuck with 2 of them. To be honest besides that one feature its an amazing microscope. Would be PERFECT for someone who doesnt care to use the camera or doesnt care to only have 1 eye when using it as well.

@GadgetReviewVideos
@GadgetReviewVideos 8 лет назад
I'm just started watching the video, and you going to link to the amp scope Tri-optic Simla focal microscope that I use. I'll bet $10' if I'm wrong. But want I want to know is about the camera. I agree with the Amscope mickscope, but I also own their camera and do NOT recommend their cameras.
@GadgetReviewVideos
@GadgetReviewVideos 8 лет назад
Ok, I checked your links. The head and microscope is exactly what I own, what's different is I use the single arm and not the double arm. The rod steal is soft and why they are cheaper then medical grade scopes. Now the double arm uses linear bearings, smoother ride until the soft steal after a few years developed scratches in the rod's from the bearings. The single arm uses a round retention ring to half the single arm steal bar and does not get gouges because it does not use linear bearings. As for the light, see next reply.
@GadgetReviewVideos
@GadgetReviewVideos 8 лет назад
+Gadget Review (GRV) the light I use is this one. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VTUD4CG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If the light you recommend has the same soft screws and case then in less then a month the screws will strip and between changing lenses it won't stay in place. So not sure about your light recommendation, but you probably don't change Barlow lenses like I do for different things. The camera, I have the U-300 and maybe the camera is good but the software is proprietary and I can't record with it because it keeps freezing even if I adjust it to manually see 30fps, so any recommendations on the camera? I think yours is a $1200+, looking for something more affordable that works like any normal USB camera and I can use any software with. When I asked AmScope about this they said I tried everything, but it's out of the 15 day wars toy and the software sucks because it's free. Um, no.. Not free, it's part of the cost of the camera that now I'm stuck with.

Hi Louis, big fan. Have a quick question. Vision VS-5FZ-IFR07-RET11.6 Simul-Focal Trinocular Zoom Stereo Microscope Seem that it offers many same qualifications in microscope that you might recommend and it already "monitor"ready. Keeping in mind that I'm in start up business and money are very strict, can you give better alternative for that amount of money or I should just got for this one? Thanks

Hi, whats up friend. I am from Colombia and I would like to know which microscope to buy in Amscope references, I have seen that there is 3.5X 45X and there are also 7X 45X I do not know what the difference is. I want you to help me decide which is the best. Thank you.

You didn't play Pokèmon as a kid Louis? Seems you're the perfect age for being there during the late 90's and early 00's superhyped Pokè games. Though I wouldn't be surprised to learn you were doing stuff to earn you money instead. Anyway, we've the microscopes you linked on amazon, but when we need more I'll make a point out of buying with your referral code.

What about focal length? Do you use a .5x Barlow lens to achieve a 8 inch working length for soldering? I know most Amscope microscopes have a normal 4 inch focal length and that seems too short for soldering.

Great, just great. Watched this video and was suckered into dropping $1K + on one of these scopes & accessories only to find out what they show you on the web site, and what they send you are not the same thing. And their customer NON-SERVICE won't do anything about it, except to have you return the entire thing back to them on your dime and pay an undisclosed amount on top of that to send you what they actually show in the picture on their own listing! WTF? Oh yeah, they don't stock or sell replacement/warranty parts either so if something breaks - too bad - go buy another new scope. Tough ****

I bought the Amscope HDMI non-recording autofocus digital camera, but the lens it came with does not allow me to have a wide enough field of view to see the whole PC board. Amscope told me "Unfortunately, we don't have a different reduction lens/camera adapter that you can use with any of our HDMI camera to increase the field of view. We normally use a barlow lens to increase the working distance and field of view but we don't have one available for your H800 series." Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks.

How many inches do I have to zoom in to see the HELP object? I bought one and I have to make less than an inch and it does not give me space to weld, I do not know how that microscope works. I a m a little disappointed.

WOW! that is something new .i never heard about 60frames/second .. i though 30 per second is the wildest dream i could think about . ..is unbelivable how fast the electronic progress go . thanks for the info . another question : i just learn about PARFOCAL future ..it supposed to adjust automatically focus while you change zoom ..if that exist that would be fantastic ... and here is idea ..i leave the developing invention to you . make electronic device which would be attached to zooming slide ..rheostat or some photofocal rheostat which would dim the light while you zooming ..if you make something like that i'll be first to buy it !!

by the way ; i ask in another of your videos about the difference in quality between elite scopes like LEICA or MEJI and AMSCOPE beside big difference in price .. did you ever have chance to work with those ?...compare the level of fatigue after few hours of working with . i work with MEJI for 30 years ..is great accept doesn't have much of deep field of focus ..old model so i'm seriously thinking about getting real TRINOCULAR with all the updates and demonstrate to my students engraving on big screen . by the way check my website stanislawcollection.com thanks a lot ! stan
