Kevin is building an earthship in cold climate Sweden. Although it is not quite finished you can already see it will be a real piece of art and it already has a lot of beautiful features.

I would not take that first amazing rock door entry way out! I love seeing people building these, my dream is to do likewise. Better for the earth and for humanity. Sustainable future!❤

Haha, I looked and sounded sooo tired and depressed but don't be fooled, it's because I've been stepping up the pace and doing between 12 and 15 hour shifts this last month. Racing towards the finish line 😛

What you are doing is commendable. Really admire what you've accomplished so far. My wife and I have been thinking about doing something like this for a few years and might actually be in a position to do so now. Currently we are in Stockholm so looking for a community that is diverse and where building a passive type home that's as self sufficient as is possible. Looking forward to your progress bro 👍💪🏻.

Looks awesome. Lot more mass in stone than cans and bottles. Nice work. That seems like more green vegetable growth than you usually see in alot of earthships.

Yes you're right. I want to work for the rest of my life with the conservation and regeneration of 1000 species, so it led to a lot of customised design ideas, for the sake of having a big enough species cradle /shadehouse indoors suitable for epic upscaled propogation of all the species we get in :-) THEN I'll be adding a full sun greenhouse up front too, as an added buffer against the Swedish winter, in the hope of having year round gardens indoors which double as the greywater restoration system. On the subject of stone, yes, right again. Once I started digging on this site, I soon became awate of an abundance of both Limestone chunks from the iron age and even the colorful stones that were dragged and rounded smooth from when the glaciers started melting and retreating approx 10 000 years ago. In the early years I cleaned out the roadside ditches and collected a couple of thousand cans for sculpting off interior partition walls - but we definately added more mass to the outer walls with the stonework. We're starting a more indepth video diary now too at www.patreon.com/medicineways, for anyone wanting to follow closely how it all goes, especially with systems and food security. There are also other tiers of membership to the channel where people can even take their full, professional online advanced permaculture education / certification :-) Otherwise, we'll continue to put out free video updates on our youtube channel "Babble from the Bubble" - "the bubble" being this, our first attempt at creating a liveable ecosystem for a family on the smallest possible footprint. If scaled up, our findings will make another kind of truly regenerative society model possible in the North, so stay tuned ;-)

I am SO impressed by this Earthship! It's beautiful now and I know it will be even more beautiful when it's done. Congratulations on building it without the use of machines. And Permaculture too! You guys are Gods!

This is going to be absolutely amazing once finished. I’m curious about where you are getting the orange trees from Canada. If you can share a link, please provide, or even the species name. Thank you.

Looks nice, but I'm one of those people who DOES NOT like to be in dark places. I need light to thrive. 🙂

Veldig interesant for meg som bor i Norge. Jeg har fulgt forskjellige prosjekter med stor interesse helt siden jeg så dokumentaren The garbage warrior with Mike Reynolds i 2007. 🤗

I was so excited to hear about the multi-layer food forest and anxiously anticipated seeing it. Dude. Totally anti-climatic. What a sad garden. 😢 However, overall what's been done and in planning is absolutely amazing.

@@B30pt87 Thank you! I was more saddened hearing comments like THAT when I'm mainly working by hand with a 350m2 building, mostly alone, after a family seperation and on a zero budget - just kind support of angel individuals (such as Mattias who's channel this is) now and then. I haven't the time or words yet to thank such individuals properly, but I certainly will be doing so, in ways that count! I'm doubly certificated in Advanced Permaculture and my heart and soul is ACHING to manifest the food forest and rooftop garden design that I've spent years carefully researching and planning (hopefully starting in just a few months). When done, it WILL be in a setting of extreme health and beauty, not to mention abundance - on what is likely to be the cold North's smallest ecological footprint, planned for a family, with seven generations of forward thinking. Phew! hehe Bless! By comparison, I wonder how far TE Finnegan has got in eliminanting / shrinking his / her family's negative impact in the world? Peace to all who are working for it! ❤

Well you should see my sad garden. First garden so don't know a lot, listened to a neighbor that gave me a vinegar spray to help kill these obnoxious grasshoppers and killed all my plants. Should have known better than to listen to someone with dirt for a garden. Gardening is hard. At least indoors won't have to worry about grasshoppers and chemicals or deer.
