The amount of people saying they're in their 40s and feeling young again is beautiful. If any of the are reading this, I'm barely 21 but this kind of music makes me wish I got to experience the 80s like you did. A good chunk of my generation feels the same way too
I only got to enjoy the last part of the 80's. I was born in 84 and not the 70's sadly, but the late 80's and early 90's were really similar, but once 1992 came around, things really started changing. Music, television and movies became really different.
I am 16 years old and I want the same as you. Being in that decade and seeing the cars, listening to the music and watching the programs just when they came out and the video games. It is something I will always wish for.
Same age as me, nothing to be ashamed of being a 80s child, when life was hanging out with your mates, on bmx's, and being polite to anyone, not like today, no respect.........
57 here... I met "the one" in Portland Oregon when I was 22 and wild... We ran headlong into the wind and stopped to breathe in Phoenix where greener pastures led her astray... 35 years later, it's 2:30 am, I lay here listening and openly weeping...
The Midnight makes music for people who need to be taken somewhere but can't get there themselves. Every single track they produce has a knack for transporting your body and spirit to a time in your life that you forgot or have to be reminded of.
I know I'm commenting 2 years later... but Lebrock, Dance with the Dead, and Timecop1983 are all also great comparisons right now. I just got recently hooked to The Midnight.
The Midnight completely captures the essence of the 80's like no other. This is exactly what the 80's felt like. I know, I was a teen in the 80's. The feeling of nostalgia is so strong. Thank you.
Rush hour On an uptown train Doors open As she walks in She’s soaking Caught in the rain Her skin shines Crystalline Eyes meet You know where this goes Her keys in They take off their clothes They’re soaking Caught in a dream Her skin shines like Crystalline The problem with believers They’ll let anyone in the door The problem with deceivers Is all the bodies buried under the floor boards Sailors knew sirens would sing From rocks off the cliffs by the sea The monsters with waiting teeth Their skin shines Crystalline Rush hour On an uptown train Doors open As she walks in She’s soaking Caught in the rain Her skin shines Crystalline
That sax ... ❤️ I discovered this track by jumping from one synthwave track to another and oh my god when I found this one ... 👌🏻 I now follow The Midnight on Spotify and each time I'm driving I listen to this particular track. My favorite 80's style track of all time.
I'm 100% on board with this. I'm about to drop in a killer sound system in my truck this weekend. I bought a 10.1" Kenwood LED head unit, four 6.5" Focal door speakers paired to 1.5" oversized tweeters with an effective range of 98 decibels, Two 8" JL Audio subs with a JL 700 watt amplifier (will use the factory Sony 700 watt amplifier underneath the shift tower to power the speakers/tweeters. I plan on utilizing every single ounce of range this song has to its full potential!
Been listening to The Midnight on a loop for about year. Makes my 44yo heart feel young again. This is my favorite of theirs and I feel 3 key influences in the song: “In the Air Tonight”, “You Belong to the City” (the sax, obviously), and Tangerine Dream’s Risky Business score. Just a great piece of music all-around. Am I the only one that gets the sense that Crystalline might be a serial killer seducing dudes on the train?
absolute genius, mimicking the 80s is one thing but you guys have modernised it tastefully and built on it as though 1984 has been going on for 30years. how you create those chords and my god that SAX!!!! I'll try my best to promote your work here in Adelaide Australia
When they upload my consciousness into the virtual reality in the future I hope The Midnight and the 80s aesthetic is available. Forever living in the best style and sound.
I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song. It takes me back to 1982, standing outside on a warm summer night in San Diego, in shorts and a tank, watching the rain as it falls diagonally through the light of the street light on the corner, waiting for my boyfriend to come pick me up. I wish this song had been there with me then, but I'm glad it's here to take me back there now. This whole album is a beautiful ride.
This song just feels wholesome. I love the vast range, the guitar and saxophone solos are perfectly executed in this. I'm having a monster sound system put in my truck this weekend and will be testing out the range and depth of my new system with this. Job well fuckin done, I'm seriously in awe listening to this song!
S.O.S !! Like si pensas lo mismo.
Omg 😍😍 was told to listen this as Phil Collins and Miami vice is my fave thing ever and this is giving me goosebumps...legit like a total remix of Phil and pure Miami vibes 👌🏼🔥
When the drums kick in with that classic 1980s gated reverb I can feel it in my whole chest. I'm instantly transported back to my local pizza parlor with a pocket full of quarters, waiting for my turn at Spy Hunter or OutRun.
2:26 took me right back into the 80's. I even recovered a lost memory. Thank you! Question: what's the difference between this track and the one NewRetroWave uploaded?
I know this is a late response, but these uploads are from their personal channel, where NRW is a channel based in putting out tracks from artists (predominantly synthwave), and giving them credit to boost popularity for the song and the artist. Usually most channels like that will either ask the artist, or the artist will ask them, to put the song up and a deal is made over split streaming revenue. there are quite a few sites that post up music without permission, and those usually get into trouble, but channels like NRW (for synthwave), funky panda (for electro-swing), and trap nation (for trap rap, rap, and remixes) will get permission from artists and make a streaming revenue deal in exchange for a bigger exposure range of audiences.
Listening to The Midnight on RU-vid then I lose track and the autoplay takes over and goes to another Midnight song and I’m like DAMN this one ahhh I forgot about it YES
Just wow....so damn good. I have not heard a song that I just have not been blown away by. Just when I think , yeah that's my favorite song, here comes another! Can't get enough!
How in the world is this song not part of Cyberpunk 2077's soundtrack? I mean, when I listen to it, the first thing I think of is the very first teaser trailer CDPR released 6 years ago with the cybernetic chick with the dead bodies around her getting shot at... MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
The Midnight should have done the whole thing and collaborated with Mitch Murder and MiamiNights1984 and Timecop1983 as well. Maybe even some Perturbator in there for insane gun fights. God I'm so ready for Cyberpunk.
It's a shame Cyberpunk 2077 didn't utilize that many actual synthwave artists, if they did at all. That's far from the only disappointing thing about the game, but still...
@@channelwithout I think bands like the Midnight wouldn't exactly fit in with the overall tone of cyberpunk 2077, since the game is of a pessimistic nature, while the midnight mostly portrays an optimistic futurism.
Fantastic! I’m a writer and I love the storyline.. I see it unfold in my mind.. seriously sexy vibe. As an 80’s kid and I’m currently writing about... The Midnight is on my writing playlists! Thank you for your beautiful art my friends! Blasting now as I get in my creative vibe. ✌🏼❤️💋 y’all from the gulf of Texas coast 🤙🤙😎🌺
