I was just posting this same thing.......It's not that shocking anymore. In recent years "Odd Thomas" was the last one I think did it justice...We'll see with Ole Georgie
This was a beautiful movie and it made me feel something. It’s very rare these days to actually feel something after watching a movie and this is one of those rare gems.
I don’t know if you know this but Netflix spends more money than they receive. So that’s not a good investment on them but that’s Netflix they want more content before they’re gone.
PLOT TWIST: George Clooney has been living on an alien planet all along ...so long that he had forgotten he had arrived here ...and assumes that it is indeed earth.
Brilliance all around today when it comes to these preemptive, seen it coming plot twist theories already in the pipe... seriously!! PWNEDpoints all around on this 1 fella's!! 🤗🤧😅 ...so proud of y'all.
plot twist: the little girl is felicity jones' charater and everything with Clooney is in the past. Everything with Felicity Jones' character is many years in the future and the movie jumps back and forth between those different times. Eventually Jones' older self gets the messages from Clooney but since she's so far out in space a bunch of time has passed and he's been long gone.
It's when I am looking up the trailer and the second result is "The Midnight Sky: ending explained." that's when I stop and move onto just read the comments on the trailer.
@@AverageJoe1006 It's like when you wake up after some really good asmr that sends you to sleep, and some moron in the next up list thinks scratching the microphone and pouring water is a good idea... you wake up going "WTF, GET OUT... Where am I.. Wh... fk.." and bash your tablet.
@@user-jq1rh1vb6d I honestly enjoyed the movie and even watched it twice. Though it is quite a depressing movie with quite slow and obvious plotlines, I think it is still beautiful of a plot nonetheless.
Movies aren't just about twists. Best to watch one without expectation and let it take you on a journey. For me it was a slow and wonderful ride nicely paced with tranquility and tenseness. Totally enthralled by the designs of the set, the "atmospheric" setting (sorry not sorry), absorbed by the superb acting from everyone. And might I add, what a great "reel" for Tiffany Boone. She really served those acting chops. Very likeable too. Despite the low rating of the film, I enjoyed it a lot and it was an escape for me, like a movie should be.
They make it to the antenna so its a happy ending. Plot Twist: The girl is actually Felicity Jones and the movie is set in 2 different points in time. (all guess, only from watching this trailer)
With all due respect I think you're wrong. After watching the trailer a few times over, Here's what I came up with: The trailer starts off with George Clooney at the Barbo observatory calling the Ether spaceship, The next scene is Felicity Jones inside the Ether spaceship calling Earth. At 0:47 A computer screen shows what looks like Global Nuclear War (with major hits on America), and that's why nobody is responding to the Ether spaceship. The one place that looks to be clear of a nuke blast was upper Canada/Arctic. It looks like George Clooney is in Canada/Arctic trying to reach the satellite dish. At 0:37 He's says: "I have to warn them of the conditions on Earth", hinting about a nuclear war. That's why they need to find a new location for human settlement. My conclusion is, George Clooney's character never actually left Earth. He's in a Holographic Simulator, to record his stress levels for the real mission. The little girl is his A.I. guide.
@@dannyramirez3875 not at all. The end leaves you feeling like it’s part 1, or that it’s unfinished. Sure you can appreciate it for what it is and delve into all the minute details, but as a whole, it’s dissatisfying.
A reminder that good actors don't necessarily make a good movie, but mostly the problem was the bad lines, whoever wrote them is an awful writer also the weird scenes that seem to work on paper but they really dont coupled with the rest of the cast that weren't really good, most of the scenes didn't have an impact whatsoever because of bad acting or bad writing.
I see a lot of people predicting and talking about what they think the move is gonna be like. If you want to know the plot it’s actually based of the novel Goodmorning, Midnight. I read the book and it’s great, I’d recommend if you like the trailer rn you read it first
Just finished it minutes ago. The stuff in the movie trailer is way more futuristic than I envisioned, lol. I do think I'm right, and they just embellished for wow factor. I hope that one scene stays original to the book and this version gets cut out (a la Star Wars trailers)
They have succeed this year by smashing due to covid. How many people around the world watching Netflix this year? All jokes aside Netflix is smashing it out the park 💪💪💪
@@productions6697 lol, I always look up trailers before watching a movie. I dont necessarily watch the trailer because they give too much away, I just go straight to the comments section.
@@RJ-cv2uw thats smart I watched it because I saw trailer on netflix but sadly there were no comments, again, you saved yourslef, i suggest Martian or Interstellar if you did not watch them amazing movies
You sound like a Fox News viewer, you just believe the bull shit people feed you instead of finding out what's going on yourself. Go watch the movie and give it a shot before you judge.
Terrible movie. 40 minutes of plot stretched out over 2 agonizing hours. Clooney looks old AF, always depressed and frowning. 1 good spacewalk scene, that's it. Don't waste your time. It's like watching paint dry.
@@СМЕШНОЙСМЕШНОЙ it's just all the dumb sci-fi cliché tropes and the shitty writing. I just kept predicting everything and turned out to be right every time. It's a dumb movie, and i think it's funny and i think it's funnier with alcohol involved.
My guess is Felicity Jones is George Clooney’s daughter. She left space years ago and lost contact with earth. George is her dad and was despaired so he camped out at the space station when everyone else has lost hope on tracking down the spaceship.
Been waiting for this. Plot Twist: Everyone on Earth, including Gerg Clueners and his little girl, is already dead by the time the astronauts' timeline comes into play? I love how everyone is just posting their theories, assuming this movie has to have an Earth-shattering Shamalan-style twist.
I loved this movie. When it was over I didn't quite know what I thought, but it made me think, and it made me thankful for what we have, and it made me realize what can happen if we don't take care of our family, our people, our country, our planet. It could really come down to this. All the nay-sayers, I would guess, aren't deep thinkers at all. This movie probably wasn't for them.
if were 1980...you would be watching Albanian or Czechoslovakian movies about goats...and saying..."you dont get it because you are a capitalistic bourgeois"..........deep thinker...LOL...
What the hell !? I am the only one who enjoyed that movie !? That was really good, sad and beautiful. The ending is very emotional... Very good movie, despite what everyone else says...
Ah! A WOMAN wrote it! That's why it's so bad. Reminds me of what I was unfortunate enough to see about _The English Patient_ ... Yeah. Women don't know anything about science and love shit like this. .
The number of people shredding this movie shows how unable viewers are able to focus their attention without some kind of shallow spectacle. It was a thoughtful movie and well executed. Yes, it is sad, so be prepared for that.
It was awful, filled with plot holes, extremely boring and a really predictable story. Almost non-existant character development. The acting was regular. The only good thing was the photography and the special effects. That scene where the guy is going throught the space ship to save the girl was gourgeous, but even that was opaqued by how dull the moment was.
one of the most depressing movies i've ever seen, indeed... but visually absolutely stunning. the story is not bad and george clooney's performance was great, i almost cried here and there... it just leaves you empty and hopeless in the end. this movie is not for the faint of heart. i have to tend to my existential crisis now, bye.
Depressing maybe, I prefer powerfully sad. After the ending I was trying to replay the movie in my head after knowing the twist. All interactions between Augustine and Iris have so much meaning; I did indeed shed some tears. Good movie.
Same. People are downgrading this movie so much. I actually cried in some parts. The visuals of this movie is amazing. I just wish the ending was different a little haha.
@@TheStedomi Who said anything about happy teens? Dafuq you on about. It’s a shit movie with every conceivable tired sci fi trope from the 50s thrown into a gawd awful brew. The story isn’t the problem, the premise is just fine, but as with all “C” movies, it’s the tired and cynical execution that’s the issue. Watch the other Clooney movie about space (Gravity) and compare that masterpiece to this dumpster fire. Your definition of “great” suggests you need to educate yourself about what truly great film making is all about. Midnight Sky will not make any serious list of top movies of the year. That’s not opinion, that’s just fact.
@@mensrea1251 that's because you dont understand the movie and yes i saw gravity also and you cant compare both. This movie is about life experiences, sad and depressing? yes, this i what life will become This is what this movie is about. So yes this movie is great in its purpose. But you got tp understand this story. This movie is not made for the large public or to score high in entertainment. if you are looking for this, then this movie isn't for you, but it doesn't mean this movie is garbage
The film drifts slowly toward one obvious conversation, 60% of the crew were apparently completely expendable. Also the debris field they flew through indicates the ship was travelling at around 57mph....but Merry Xmas!!!
It also literally ends with the extinction of mankind XD like 2 people go back to that planet and restart humanity? Impossible 2 humans do not have enough genetic diversity for that. It would result in too much inbreeding and the human race would die off after several generations. Like if the entire crew of 5 people had survived and went back to the planet then maybe it'd be possible if each man had multiple kids with each woman and controlled which kids had kids with who. Then maybe they'd have enough diversity, and even if the one woman died if all 3 men stayed then it might of still barely been possible. But since they were all idiots they made the decision to go down to the dead planet to die.
@@-Offstar it is likely the colony preparations already had fertilized embryos there to restart it just in case. In which case a single woman can "possibly" raise kids. And if most of these kids are females at the start they can further use these embryos when they grow up and keep going.
They were traveling at 0, relative to themselves. As someone who has a big problem with shows for being inaccurate or stupid, such as Away with the incompetent astronauts which I couldn't stand watching, I didn't have a big problem with the ice balls.
@@zefnoly9147 There are no embryos there. In the movie it's stated several times the Aether was a study mission to see what k-23 was like and if it could support life. 1 week prior to the events of the movie was when the colony ship was supposed to be sent which would of carried colonists and embryos. But everything went to hell over 2 weeks before the ship was to be launched so it was never launched.
i saw the movie and left me with the sad thought of how many talented directors around the world do not have the funds to make great movies, unlike George Clooney.
Doesn't look like an epic adventure, more like a small and personal journey that deals with slightly epic themes. Interesting enough. Looks better than most I've seen lately.
This film is one of the best films in 2020. People didn't like it because they expect fast and furious on space and this is not it. This film is a slow burner, it captivates us, make us feel emotional. People expecting thriller will get sleepy but don't believe them, watch this masterpiece.
This movie isn't that good...it doesn't require much thinking, you can even watch it without thinking. The space logic is just terrible... especially if you have watched Interstellar which logic was based on real science. If you want good sci-fi movies, watch Interstellar and Arrival...
I just finished the book and it is great, although if people think this is an action packed story you may want to see something else. It is more about the lack and the search for human interaction and the feelings that appear in all of us when suddenly things go to shit.
It’s not an action movie. It’s about a one man’s reflection upon his life, the choices he made and how they impacted those around him, the world and himself. Would he change something? Does he regret anything? George Clooney directed this movie because he wanted us to reflect on the impact we make to the Earth. A beautiful slow movie with excellent music. For people who think.
If you pay close attention he looks at the girl, then the bottle, then down at the desk as if he knows the girl isn't real and he has a psychological problem. He then proceeds to ask "is anyone out there" after realizing he's alone.
I’v seen plenty of people saying this is a boring movie and crap like that, i personally enjoyed it . I respect others opinion too , but we should not forget that this movie was made after a book, so u shouldn t be so judgemental and apreciate that these people worked really hard for this, even if you don t find it pleasant or not , u should respect the actors work.
Started watching this on Netflix, got bored after 10 minutes, came here to check the Comment Section and closed Netflix ✅ Thank you guys for saving my time ♥️
I personally really liked it (except the ending). I would give it a 6/10. I wouldn’t shoot this movie down completely, but I see why most don’t like it. This movie has a bunch of unanswered questions. It’s just one of those movies that you have to create your own scenario and guess what happens; which causes the mystery. I liked it.
The movie is so incredibly perfect for me❤ so touching, emotional and great. Loved it❤ can't believe the comments, now a days people have no brains and emotions 😢
This is my take ... The young girl was his daughter who we find out as it is revealed at the end. To me the whole way through the film he was hallucinating due to his illness. Her presence gave him the strength to fight and carry on to fulfill his mission which was to let the rest know not to return to earth as its ruined and nothing is left. You can see he also regrets abandoning her when he was chasing his career and he tries to make up for it while caring for her throughout the film. I am glad he found her at the end and in turn was able to save her life.
This movie was okayish, but a little boring. Not much really happened story wise or interest wise. That being said, thanks for having someone on staff that actually knew a little about how things work. Printing replacement parts, flexible materials, and what looked like AI designed structure along with the people on the show not being completely incompetent really helped. I hope that you keep that person around for your other sci-fi shows/movies. They could use them.
Ignore the haters in the comments. I enjoyed this movie. There were definitely lines that were poorly written and some of the characters could have been further developed, but overall, it was great.
I don’t understand what is a good movie for people nowadays. To me this movie was a masterpiece, i could say one of the best movies i watched on netflix. The music is spectacular and production is on point. Clooney did an amazing job as main role. People must have shit taste to say this movie is bad.
For those who don't understand the twist: Augustine spent his entire life focusng on his work and never on things like family and friends. He accomplished something but he was never really happy, all his life he was dead inside. All that regret and depression takes the form of his daughter, Iris. The reason why she's a little girl is because that's how she looked the last time he saw her, and the reason why she doesn't speak cause she never got to hear her voice either. Throughout the journey towards the ending Augustine finally has no regrets; he has come back to life.
But he was told by Jean 'you are off the hook, there's no pregnancy' ... so he had no idea there was a child. And the audience has no idea that Jean lied to him.
