Dave. I have lived in Perth WA for 25 years now and it is home to me. It is a lovely place to live and a great place to bring up children. I wouldn't change a thing. However. I have always had trouble with becoming settled here. I am not an Aussie (even after almost half my life here). I am an English migrant that calls Australia home. It has got to be said that the ties that bind, for me, are in England and specifically the area where you have been on this video. It is difficult for me to explain but it makes my heart ache just to watch this. The countless hours I have spent there as a child with my now deceased parents. Cycling and motorcycling. Courting and with my own young children. You are truly a legend my friend. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🙏💙💙🙏🙏
Thanks for another informative and beautiful ride. As an American, what I notice first is the lack of glaring, ugly billboard advertisement signs along the roads and even in the villages. We always have to have the neon, garish signs of the huge chains of fast food places and gas stations (why do we call gasoline, which is a liquid, "gas"?) I hope someday to visit your beautiful country, where my ancestors lived. I hope you get the Enfield back soon!
Was in Matlock Bath yesterday. Today heading for High Bradfield via Strines for a bacon buttie. Then maybe on to Holmfirth returning home via Glossop and the Snake. One of these days we will bump into each other on the road 😀
YOU did it again! Matlock Bath for Fish ,chips and mushy peas, on a Sunday afternoon, we did it from another direction, from Lichfieldish, then on to Bakewell to pick up a PROPER tart for teatime at home,Cheers, DINO and Malta mafia.
Your understanding of local knowledge is very good I thought I was going to have to correct you several times but, no each time you corrected yourself 😂 Nice job, I’ve just subscribed
Hi we live in Sheffield town end. Only takes 1hr if that, to go to matlock. Went alot every Sunday on bike with lads 1981 to 1987 yam Lc days. Good fun.
That looked like an enjoyable ride out you had, and dry. Certainly you met plenty of other bikes along the way. Glad you managed to get your fish and chips.
A great ride and it’s all on my doorstep, which is exactly why I bought the 350 Classic. Next time, take that road from Owler Bar, work your way across Chesterfield to Wingerworth and call in for a cuppa 😀
Nice one Dave, another super ride. The good people at Manhatten Motorcycles took a bike up to Owler Bar for me to test ride , as after a gap of 22 years I didn't fancy riding in Sheffield. The bike was the then new RE Meteor, rode it very nervously down to Baslow and back, and decided I was too old for a motorcycle Then when they announced the Classic 350, I put down a deposit the first week they were announced , and now, having had the bike for 14 months, I'm a lot younger! ....Stay safe, and let's hope the spare parts arrive soon
Not sure how this one popped up in my feed but glad it did! The last time I drove though there was in 1986 just before I left for Hong Kong. As kid back in the 70s it was a place the family went at the weekend and I even had a relative that had a house right on the main street which backed out onto the hillside and had the entrance of a cave attached to it. It's been a bit too long for me to pick it out from the video and the place has certainly changed since I was there but I reckon it was one of the first buildings on the left as you drove back down and through. There was also a perishing well I think somewhere on the other side of the road with all kinds of objects that had been placed there with water dripping over them and calcifying them, if my memory serves me correctly. Other place names you mentioned also ring a bell and spent much time in and around Chatsworth too back in the day. I am originally from Mansfield.
Excellent video as normal! 👍 Your mention of deer in the Big Moor area reminded me of a ride a number of years ago. Closer to Youlgreave. Brian leading, Lol in the middle me at the back. Lol was always in the middle as he could disappear at any time, any junction. Had no sense of direction and didn’t really look around him! Could definitely do with your instructional videos! Where we were riding, a wooded area, there was quite a drop on your left and a steep rise on your right. Suddenly a stag appeared in the field below and jumped many feet on to the road just in front of Brian, and ran alongside him for a short while. Bri’ wasn’t sure what to do as he didn’t want to spook the stag. Nonchalantly the stag accelerated in front of Bri’ and just bounded over the fence on the right (possibly 12’ in the air) and bounded uphill and away. We stopped a little while further on and spoke about an amazing incident! Amazingly Lol hadn’t even noticed! 😱
I used to deliver wine to pubs, hotels etc around Chatsworth area, never saw any Bakewell tarts though as I always delivered in that area on a morning so maybe too early to catch the tarts. 😂 I really am amazed at so many of those roads you were riding along that I recognised. My delivery routes used to cover from Northumberland, Cumbria and down to Liverpool and across to Grimsby. The Peak district is a lovely area as are the Lakes and Yorkshire dales. Us bikers are spoilt for choice for riding routes in the UK. Thank you for another great video.
Loved the ride Dave. City and country. You’d think Royal Enfield brass would get on the stick and ship That Bloke the parts he needs. Looking forward to our upcoming holiday in UK…with Interceptors! Leave some chips for us. 🏍️
Been to Matlock for over 45 years and loved it every time, one problem though, the bikers swamp the area and it’s a nightmare. I understand the freedom but It does get a bit much sometimes
Thanks Dave, great ride and very helpful commentary. I'm planning to take my better half up to the peak district, in a car sadly as she won't ride, base ourselves in of near bakewell for a few days of sightseeing, some good tips provided, thanks again ride safe.
You should have gone to the Promenade Fish & chip shop been going there since the mid 70s , best fish and chips went there first on my bikes, now on my mx5, like my comfort now.
Another great ride through some stunning scenery! I could almost smell the fish n chips 😊 Those BMWs are great machines! I've got an R1200R (wet head), feeling a little neglected since the Hntr 350 arrived 🤔Is yours the R1200RT? It looks very palatial. It's a shame your Classic is taking so long to get sorted but, as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder 😊Roll on, more Classic rides! Cheers for now, Phil
Hi, it's the Zumo mount fitted to a home made bracket. The bracket is fixed to the fairing top with cable raps through a couple of holes I drilled. Hope this helps, ride safe, Dave
No, they tried to meter it years ago but we did a mass bike ride through protest and I think it helped to change their mind, plus all the business owner’s protested.
