I've resumed working on a track that I had set aside now for a lengthy period of time due to adversity having perpetually overwhelmed for years , specifically: You can't be "in the zone", if you have to worry about eviction and similar things.
About "latency" (=technical term, muzos will know, others not so much): There is a "lag" between the input and the output signals, which depends upon processing power of the hardware involved and other factors. Since I'm working on a very old machine, naturally, latency is a bit more pronounced than on the latest gear. Fortunately, when I record, I have "direct monitoring", which is without latency, so I get to be "in the pocket" with my playing (it would drive me nuts and simply dysfunctional, musically, if this option weren't available). However, when running the track within the software, I ususally have to "make up for" this tiny, but noticeable delay between what I played in and which can due to the nature of this technological thing only "arrive" a fraction later in the software. So I have to do some editing, which I haven't done here yet, as it's an unnerving process that I'd rather only do when all the tracks are "locked in" as far as interpretation and so on is concerned. That said: I'm aware that it isn't 100% accurate and "in the pocket" for above explained reasons (and if you were able to make sense of them). I'll fix this towards the end of the entire procedure, of course.
This is just meant as - hopefully - an "appetizer" of sorts. Let me know, what you think, if so inclined. Thanks!
